132kmpl is insane...!!! My 2005 splendour use to give 60-62 in city and 75-76 on highways with speed below 60kmph.

PS: Overdrive could have extracted 10-12kmpl more from splendour i-smart considering the fact that its rider was the heaviest of the lot at whopping 118 kilograms where as platina's rider was much lighter which helped it to extract such an insane figure from a litre of petrol.

Thats very much observed by them too. The disclaimer at the end is more important that its not practical at all to drive as sedately as they did. Unless, you are given monthly salary for test-driving them 20 working days of the month, its not sensible.

It is sad to note that companies use deception to make profits. Legally, their statement that their bikes returned 102 kmpl when tested by a "government certified agency" seems 100% proper. But the way this is advertised to people is like everyone in India can ride a Splendor iSmart and get a mileage of 102 kmpl using it. This is unethical.

This is like salman khan saying he is innocent
Let's hope in future hero gets at least something right after their split with honda.. let's see if they can move away from using the honda base engines.
btw, i do remember once way back in 2000 a friends uncle was able to extract 90 kmpl (when ridden in minimal traffic and sanely) from a Kb 4S champion. Was a nice bike i must say, and my friend and myself enjoyed riding it a few times while in school.

I have never seen any splendor give more mileage than 65-70. Some old cd100s gave about 80. But 106 is kind of out there. If Hero really wants to prove it then they should show it in public testing in someway.

My Joy i have got 106 kpl on two occasions. And for all of your information, i was not alone. I was ridding and my pillion was my friend. I weighed at around 72 kg, then and my friend weighed 75 kg.

So a combined weight of 147 kg.

              .
I think your calculation has gone totally wrong somewhere. Even test riding conditions wouldn't be able to gives that mileage and your claim borders on incredulous.

So a combined weight of 147 kg.

We tested with speeds hovering between 40-50 kph.

We were on highway and also through city. We had no aim of testing. But my friend who was pillion usually traveled with me to college. He was amazed by my bikes mileage of 80+ kpl. So that day class was suspended and he asked me to test the mileage on testing mode.

We rode and rode and after 90 km we got bored, still excitement was building and when we crossed 100 kpl we were amazed. Then at 106 kpl it finally got over.

My friend and me were both amazed. Then after 15 days we decided to test once again to verify it and once again we hit 106 kpl.

So it is no surprise that Hero claims same for splendor i-smart is no wonder.

My Joy even at almost 4 lacs kilometers returns 80+ kpl with my kind of ripping with frequently touching 90-95 kph with two-up.

If hero comes to prove me then i am ready to show 100+ kpl even today.
Sometimes it becomes so funny that words do fail me to describe the series of events [emoji23] [emoji23] if people get 106kpl in Indian riding conditions then why people bash the guys who claim 5bhp increase after putting a free flow air filter or claim beating a 250cc bike with their 150cc after putting a dalda dabba exhaust

Exactly, what's time consuming, mundane, boring to most people may not be so for a handful few. People with enough resources and time on their hand will be always impractical. Climbing Mt. Everest got easier these days compared to efforts it took fifty years ago or so; old techniques are outdated and impractical now!!!

Thanks to Overdrive for coming out with this official test; now we know(officially) how to save fuel in extreme cases and stretch the distance.
However, long-term side effects of such riding are open for speculation.

Where do you even get these comparisons?? Climbing mount everest and riding a 100cc bike... Seriously??

Anyways, it doesnt matter if they get 100 kmpl in tests. The point is, it is about the mileage general people get while riding. A normal commuter doesnot give thoughts to od tests or riding to save fuel. He just wants to commute in the least problematic and most feasable way. So putting stuff like 100 kmpl on a brochoure when the actual mileage is 2/3rds of that is kind of misleadong.

I dont understand all the hue and cry about this. Every buyer knows that the mileage claim by ALL manufacturers is under test conditions. So its never going to be same as real world. So are the top speed and power figures. There is difference in ideal and real conditions. going by the comments above, please tell which manufacturer is not misleading. And more thing, quantum of differences doesn't lead to classification as misleading.
