    Harley Davidson Street 750 customized for Gujarat police: xBhp News

    Nine Bridges Harley Davidson today delivered six customized Street 750 bikes to Gujarat Police. This is the first time that a police department in India has chosen high-capacity motorcycles for specialized use. The motorcycles will be used primarily for quick response actions by the police department, including the escort of senior ministers and visiting dignitaries and emergency response as part of a natural disaster response team, among others.

      Hope they dont get used as a market troley by police-wale. We see Police jeeps / Sumo used for all other purposes. Hope the bike's dignity is maintained and used only what it was meant for.

        This is a Disaster,as i remember saying in an earlier thread related to this news When Pulsars are not maintained I wonder how these bikes will look after a year or more.
        End use will be "Joy ride" for the department.
        Also there was news that the cops could not handle this bike(the power)
        Is this the only bike which gives confidence and maneuverability on the road???
        Who will they chase in this densely populated country and cities??

          Reminds me of the news of Dubai Police getting Lamborghinis. Absolutely no use, just to perpetuate the recent image of Gujarat as a prosperous and wealthy state
          and hog the headlines. I can get it if they get CBR 250s(UP police did sometime ago, didn't they?), but Harley's. Great usage of taxpayer's money.
          Though I am 100% sure,most Gujarati taxpayers who pay for the Police expenses(I am not sure how much %age of national funds is allocated for state police), won't complain because it contributes to the state's image building exercise.

            This will be used to escort the politicians and their families to their relatives weddings. The other days of the year, it will be rusting in the exposed police station parking lots.

                Why so serious??

                Yes, the bike they have chosen might not be the best option around. But it might turn out to be good enough as a highway patrol vehical. Lets give them a chance; with great power comes great responsibility. Maybe they'll keep them in good condition. And we should not have any prejudice against all policemen, theirs' is not an easy job. Just my opinion.

                        Make in India and export, nobody said Ride in India. Remember that these CKD and CBUs are there because the same politicians say sport bikes and bigger displacement motorcycles are luxury items and not basic necessity and hence the taxes are justified. Yet their own logic does not apply to them when they raise their 5 year budget(or is it 10?) for govt cars by 5 lakhs every now and then to be able to afford that brand new 35 lakh SUV for their family trips via taxpayer's money.

                          Guys dont you think RE would have been a better choice. It would have showcased real Indian bike. HD is no doubt great but there isnt any Indianness in it. RE could have been modified to suit the police departments requirement.

                              I have a small doubt - are 750 ccs really needed for the intended purpose?
