. I feel xbhp should have a fund or some sorts where every interested member contributes. We buy a newly launched bike and then share among ourselves for a week each or so.Then figure out what the reliability is like. This way for a Bajaj launched bike, for instance, we can avoid being Guinea pigs

Same rate of price increase shouldn't be expected because this isn't a single cylinder. I would think of 6L as starting price for this.Originally posted by HyperRetard View Post4 lakhs for a 800cc paralel is slightly optimistic.
Where does the 500 cc cingle fit in then?
And the 500cc RC
2.1 for RC390
3.2 for D500
3.5 for RC500
5 for D800
5.5 for RC800The way you ride is the way you are..

And you would have it over a similarly priced ER-6N or a Ninja 650? (which are about 40K cheaper.)
Nobody would.

Why wouldn't they? I am talking about the 800cc not the 500s.Originally posted by HyperRetard View PostAnd you would have it over a similarly priced ER-6N or a Ninja 650? (which are about 40K cheaper.)

I wouldn't want to spend that much on a bike which has a shit build quality.
But but but... it's not even launched yet.. I am quite sure a premium bike like Duke 800 will not come with the same quality as of duke 390/200.

Globally, KTM is famous for shitty build. Infact they are the Pulsars of Europe, in build quality. Read any MCN comparo/test and you will see.

Re: KTM Duke 800
But probably not 'shitty' enough to make people ignore the 150cc and way more bhp difference over the 650 twins. And commenting on the build quality from now is funny. Anyways, to each his own. We shall see when the bike is launched, which is still a long time from now.Originally posted by HyperRetard View PostGlobally, KTM is famous for shitty build. Some people still buy the CBR250, despite the 100cc and 12 BHP difference over the 390.
According to your logic, they shouldn't exist?

Re: KTM Duke 800
So this is your analogy?? Same thing applies on the 650-800 cc level? I don't think so. Anyways, I didnt say they shouldn't exist. I just said there will always be takers for both kind of products. VFM and high power with bit inferior build quality or Great quality with bit inferior performance.Originally posted by HyperRetard View PostSome people still buy the CBR250, despite the 100cc and 12 BHP difference over the 390.

I guess this thing started with a discussion on probable pricing. And I feel a company doesn't price it's products low because some people feel their build quality is 'shitty'.
Let's agree to disagree. Peace out!The way you ride is the way you are..

A lot of people, actually.
And how do you know it will have great performance?

1. Some people who are still buying cbr 250 is now 'very few people'. Initial batches of cbr wasn't niggle free, but still the word Honda makes us turn a blindeye.Originally posted by HyperRetard View PostA lot of people, actually.

2. Some people having apprehensions about ktm build quality is still 'some people only'. Many among those some haven't even bought it, they have formed an opinion hearing about stories of the initial batch. Perceived information varies from actual.
3. Performance of 500-650-800cc ktm is a corollary to the performance of 390.
4. There isn't a perfect bike for perfect price coz both the variables are subjective.

1: Thats because a lot of people already have bought the CBR, and its abundantly available in the used bike market. And it has decent resale too, unline the Austrian.
And Honda actually took notice of it, and made it niggle free, unlike KTM, which accepts their products are niggled, yet does nothing.
2: Everyone, including some of the owners have issues.
3: Wow. What logic.
4: 5 lakh D800 is not that perfect bike for perfect price.

1. Cbr, decent resale! Ok. I remember your query for a used bike. Why didn't you consider cbr??Originally posted by HyperRetard View Post1: Thats because a lot of people already have bought the CBR, and its abundantly available in the used bike market. Abundant availability in used market, I infer that people weren't happy with the product or their choice. Regarding sales number, google honda cbr sales vis-a-vis ktm.
Aren't you aware of the upgrades in 2015 Dukes?
2. Everyone!!! Nope. Some owners, I agree.
3. Thank you.
4. Is it official? I am not aware about the pricing of D800. But still, degree of perfection of a bike at any price point is very subjective. What is expensive to me, may not be to you and likewise perfection.

You remember my query, but you don't remember what I wrote in it? Little knowledge is a dangerous thing.
2: I know of plenty of cracked alloys. Recently there was a guy on T-BHP who got black D200 alloys because his orange ones gave way. On a 2015 RC390. Some quality control, that.
3: So lets get this straight. You are saying that because the 390 single has good power, so going by that logic, the 800, which is a paralel twin will have good power too? Weird.
4: Thats what Samarth619, and a lot of other senior members who have given their valuable contributions to this thread think it will retail for.
