Re: Yamaha YZF R15-S Launched at Rs. 1.14 Lakh
Does it have a less agressive seating stance? One of the reviewers of the the 2.0 bike had said that the 2.0 had a more aggressive stance to increase forward weight to match the larger and heavier rear tyre. This bike also seems to have the larger tyre, so does it have the same aggresive stance or less ?
Also if the tyre size is that of the 2.0 bike, then, i guess, the rear sprocket will have more teeth than the original v1.0 bike.
Also i didn't understand, why is the price more than that of the v2.0, because the 2.0 fairing was more aerodynamic than 1.0.

Now I can say YES Yamaha for R15 S. At least for people who want a 150cc Yamaha engine with pillion comfort. I believe now people won't be having a dilemma in between CBR 150R and R15 S.
Just adding an ABS would be have killing. But yes ABS for a 150cc is a bit odd might be.

Thanks Krishna for posting such updated news. I only follow xBhp for all motorcycles update. Nice to get info like this.Originally posted by krishna77 View PostYamaha has finally answered the issue of the odd pillion seat issue of the otherwise brilliant R15 v2.0. They have launched a single-seat variant(like the V1.0) naming it YZF R15-S. The specs should be the same as in the R15 v2.0. However, the R15-S will be dearer by 500 bucks. But, that should not be an issue with people looking for a comfortable ride! Both the split-seat and single-seat will be available simultaneously. Now, it remains to be seen whether they do it on the R3 in future or not!

Re: Yamaha YZF R15-S Launched at Rs. 1.14 Lakh
IMO, one of the main reasons Yamaha has introduced this model is the impending replacement of the R15v2. It won't be just a cosmetic enhancement, but an overhaul of the platform.
It will no longer use the SOHC LC4V engine we all know and love. It'll have a DOHC engine, USD front forks, LED headlights, etc.
Some of you may have seen the above spyshots from Thailand. This naked model will be sold as the MT15 or Vixion, depending on the market. And as we all know that the Vixion was the base for developing the R15, this will be the base for developing the R15v3. Expect a totally different bike, as Honda is also ready to introduce their new 150cc offerings soon.
The other major reason for Yamaha to introduce the R15-S is for them to maintain their premium pricing and profits. You can expect the new R15v3 to have an even higher price.

This survey took them almost 3 years.Frankly speaking the back looks ugly. This bike is all about styling . Howveer i do still think there is not a more beautiful bike in the world other than the Secial Edition R15 V2.0.he rear looks so beautifulOriginally posted by Gladii View PostThat is a Brilliant move. In my opinion Yamaha has done a survey well and having both v2 and this along side is a great strategy. Not sure why Yamaha India is still not updated yet.

I own a year old R15 V2 and would still buy the more sporty one rather than the glorified commuter.
Its like people going to buy a Lamborghini Aventador and then arguing that a Lambo should be as practical as maruti 800 as maruti has 2 more seats and a boot in which we can carry our groceries.I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

Thats why people buy a Porsche 911, which has 4 seats.

Agreed sir, Porsche 911 is the most practical of the sports cars you can buy. I'm not sure about the 4 seats, there may be a variant, but it does have good boot space.Originally posted by HyperRetard View PostThats why people buy a Porsche 911, which has 4 seats.I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

What do they plan to price it at? 1.7 Lakhs? The R15 is already pushing the pricing boundaries. These additions will make it on par the 250s.

Re: Yamaha YZF R15-S Launched at Rs. 1.14 Lakh
They may possibly say that the new product is better than the old R15v2 or R15-s, hence the increase in price. It's also highly likely that the R15s will continue to be sold along with the new model. So, it won't really make sense to sell old and new products side-by-side and price them the same way. It's just my personal opinion though - the reality may be far different! Honda will also be refreshing their CBR150R in Southeast Asia using an updated engine. The engine is already being used in the 2015 Honda Sonic in Southeast Asia. Yamaha will be threatened if they stay put with their existing product line-up.Originally posted by HyperRetard View PostWhat do they plan to price it at? 1.7 Lakhs?
