Re: Yamaha YZF R15-S Launched at Rs. 1.14 Lakh
You're right, that's why I still love this bike. Rode UG4 of a friend, and it was awful in terms of acceleration, sound and comfort. But R15s seems to have torque of 15 when compared to mine at 11 (I think so), one at 7500 rpm while mine at 6500 rpm! What do you say?Originally posted by Samarth 619 View Post
Is the riding posture same as Apache or R15 v2?Originally posted by Samarth 619 View Post

Well, maximum torque is yes, more in the R15, but that torque is available at 7500 rpm only.Originally posted by Rajarshi Mandal View PostYou're right, that's why I still love this bike. Here's the thing about maximum torque:- it doesn't say anything about what will be the torque at low or mid range rpms like 2000 or 3000.
It might be possible that at 2000 rpm, your Pulsar makes 4NM and R15 makes 2.5NM (for example). And later in the rpm, R15 overtakes the torque curve of Pulsar.
Low rpm is where your Pulsar is still stronger.
However, it doesn't mean the UG4 has bad acceleration. The trick with these modern bikes, is to accelerate high up the rpm's before shifting into the next gear... Around 4-5krpm is normal shifting for these bikes, around 7-9 gives good acceleration, depending on how they make the power. Then you'll accelerate even better than before, with no problems.
Yes. According to Yamaha official website's pics.Is the riding posture same as Apache or R15 v2?
I compared both of them closely, and it seems the only difference between S and version 2.0 is the rear portion (seat, mudguard, etc.) and the front fairing. Each and every other component seems exactly the same visually.---

For me its just a marketing gimmick. The old bikes Like RX100 and samurai, fiero gladiator... these all never came with such things and look still the engines are so versatile.Originally posted by HyperRetard View Post
These guys are talking about FE but still the fz returns 40. And the R15 with more power almost returns the same. Infact NS with 200cc gives 37-40.
I find these new terminologies to me gimmick.even the Gixxer with no tech returns 42-45Last edited by xplod566; 11-05-2015, 10:02 PM.

I agree that some technologies don't make that vast a difference that it should matter to the end user. A lot of terminologies are only marginal in their benefit.Originally posted by xplod566 View PostFor me its just a marketing gimmick. I think, Blue core kept aside, its the Fuel injection that really helps the FZ score better figures in mileage.
I'm not sure about the FZ still returns 40 kmpl fact. If I'm not wrong, the guys who rode it on highways as a promotional ride, claimed that it gave 65-70 kmpl. They were not biased because they had some bad things to say too.
Even otherwise, I've heard only good things about this new engine.
Yes, that would be the best thing to do... Rev high upto 6-7 krpm to see its thrust in any gear, and also, go into higher gears like 5th and see its response at lower speeds like 35-45 kmph. If you're convinced then only go for it.

Ah all the Japs have technology with a name these days, Honda started with 'HET' badging, Yamaha followed suit with 'Blue Core' and hot on heels Suzuki responded with 'SEP'. All are aiming to promote better efficiency without compromise on power delivery. However the benefits can only be established only with rigorous trial with standard simulations between the older generation and newer generation bikes by an independent lab of repute. This almost never happens and we the prospective customers have to take whatever is fed to us by the marketing whiz kids and may be user experience which can vary widely due to multiple aspects.

I actually happen to test ride tbe bike.THe intial pickup is really good but once it reaches 70 its looses all its steam.Yoiu are right its the FI that doesnt he trick .I think if someone buys it as a city commuter then its really good hwere speeds are always lower than 70 with high initial pickupOriginally posted by Samarth 619 View PostI agree that some technologies don't make that vast a difference that it should matter to the end user.
