      That's a brilliant news.

Will this rule be applicable for the imported bikes as well, likes of Honda, Benelli, Kawasaki, Ducati etc..

Reason I ask this question is, the outlets of these bikes sell helmets and crash guards at a very high costs.

This is a welcome move. But then, do the people really care? I see people riding bikes without wearing a helmet on their head but on their hands..

I also wish if the mirrors would come riveted or welded to the bikes body/frame/handlebar. Morons, first thing they do after acquiring the bike is get rid of the mirrors thinking these are just cosmetics and appear meek on it. F**k them all.

Free ISI helmet. If you can spend 6+ Lakhs on a bike, buy a better helmet, not a 700 Rupee ISI helmet.

Buying a 6+ lakh rupee bike does not make it mandatory to buy an expensive helmet..
Similarly, buying a budget bike also does not imply that you buy a 700 rupee helmet.

Helmet's main purpose is safety of the rider.

ISI certified helmets are safe, as per the standards.

Yes, they may not be fancy, but they are up to the job.

Re: Helmet, accessories to come free with two-wheelers

So after cops fail to enforce their helmet rule around the country, which has probably dented the local ISI mark helmet sales expectations, they now want manufacturers to buy us ISI marked crappy helmets instead and these additional costs will eventually be passed on to the owner in the price of his/her motorcycle. Just another business tactic from the local helmet manufacturers to boost their sales.

Its funny, how many times I hear cops stop fellow riders for riding a DOT certified imported helmet without the ISI mark even after you explain to them that the DOT ones are rated higher than the ISI rated ones.

Even if these helmets are given free, what guarantee does it give that the rider will ride wearing them at all times? A person idiotic enough to ride without a helmet wouldn't wear one unless and until somebody offers him $$$ as a daily challenge for it.

Just last month KA cops made it mandatory for pillions to wear helmet. I was pleasantly surprised for a week because people in my city were happily following it. Then a week later, neither the cops cared nor the pillions. People started riding without them and cops saw them and did nothing. People who bought second helmets for pillions ended up wasting money and only the helmet manufacturers won here.
                Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Since I am around the corner to buy a new Maestro Edge (Paid Rs.1000 as advance booking), I wanted to clarify on this freebies and quoted the above notification came on the paper to the Dealers facebook. I posted it this morning but no reply as of now (normally they reply in 2 hours for all queries asked in the facebook).

May be they are confused and thinking how to accommodate the money which they need to spend towards this new ruling from the State Department..!!?

"The MVD has also asked manufacturers to find a solution to deactivate Bluetooth facility on mobile phone while the motorcyclist possessing it is driving the vehicle" Lol. What does this MVD guy think manufacturers can do about cellphones? Install Signal jammers?

Why would you want a 700 Rs helmet with your Superbike, even for free?

Good luck taking your ISI helmet at 200 kmph, and hell me how it goes, ok?

I don't know why do we even implement compulsory helmet?
If someone overestimates his cranium bones or mistakes them for admantium, and is idiotic enough not to wear one, then let him be.
I don't even feel sorry for such people.

I wonder which helmet would save from a crash at 200 kmph.

I think its not totally the fault of the manufacturers its the fault of commuters as well who don't bother wearing a helmet also the traffic police for not implementing the rules. Govt should invest more in educating citizens about road safety just how its done in the UK
