Suzuki To Locally Assemble Hayabusa In India, Priced At ~Rs. 11 Lakhs
With sales of the Hayabusa being consistent, Suzuki is now planning to locally assemble the motorcycle via the CKD route resulting in a price drop of around Rs. 5 lakhs.
Suzuki had recently launched the Hayabusa Z Edition in India, it gets a Yoshimura exhaust
Which is the most popular superbike in India? It is without doubt the Suzuki Hayabusa because almost everyone has heard about this hyperbike, courtesy of the Bollywood movie Dhoom. While many might not know this but Suzuki has seen consistent demand for its flagship motorcycle in India, yes, the Hayabusa does sell in decent numbers for its price. In a move which comes as pleasantly shocking, Suzuki now plans to locally assemble this 300 km/hr machine in India, bringing it via the more cost effective CKD route.
Currently the Suzuki Hayabusa comes via the CBU route and is priced at Rs. 15.95 lakhs for the regular variants and Rs. 16.20 lakhs for the Z Edition (ex-showroom, Delhi). With CKD assembly, the price of the iconic motorcycle will come down by a good Rs. 5 lakhs, making it an attractive proposition at Rs. 11 lakhs. The Hayabusa is powered by a 1340cc, 4-cylinder engine which pumps out 197 PS of power and 155 Nm of torque. It can sprint from 0-100 km/hr in just 3.0 seconds and is electronically limited to a top speed of 299 km/hr. Its main rival is the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R which is faster accelerating.
The Suzuki Hayabusa makes for a good touring motorcycle, it can munch miles quickly
However, that’s not all, Suzuki plans to assemble more superbikes in India via the CKD route. This means, the company could also bring in more products which would be attractively priced to take on the offerings from Kawasaki, Triumph and Benelli, the other manufacturers in the premium motorcycle space who have committed to CKD operations. The big bike market in India is seeing a boon and with manufacturers showing commitment towards local assembly, the good times are sure to roll. Some superbike makers are still awaited with MV Agusta being on the top of our list.

I was doubting this news because it came from Motorbeam and every other site was linking to it as the source.
But here is the (much more reliable) original source of this news: More superbike makers plan to make in India as sales rise - The Economic Times
I don't know why Google did not pick this up though.200 | 300 | 1200 BOXER

Its a nice step, and hopefully will inspire others to follow.
Although I seriously seriously doubt the 5 lakh price cut. I dont think the difference will be that much. It will be significant enough but not 5 lakhs in my opinion.

That 30% reduction in MRP. Recently Mercedes and BMW also started local assembly of few of their car models and the price reduction after CKD was also 30%. Fingers crossed.www.motorcykle.in - The lighter side of motorcycling

Re: Suzuki Hayabusa to be assembled in India, price to drop by Rs 5 Lakhs
Here is what the Hayabusa costs, at transfer prices:
So a transfer price of 5,65,400 is currently incurring a 60% duty which brings us to a total of 9,04,640. Suzuki then adds its margins etc. and sells it for 16 Lakh ex-showroom Delhi.
Some time later Suzuki starts CKD ops for this bike, which means 30% duty, thereby getting us to a total of 7,35,020.
That is a difference of only 1.7 lakhs. And let us further assume that Suzuki reduces its margins per bike as well (they have a ready-made assembly line, created for the Inazuma).
With all this, a cut of 2-3 lakhs looks realistic, 4 seems far-fetched and 5 seems flat-out impossible.
I would love to be proven wrong though.200 | 300 | 1200 BOXER

The Import duty for a CBU is 75% and not 60%.Originally posted by tanay View PostHere is what the Hayabusa costs, at transfer prices:

What's also interesting is that Suzuki absorbed the 15% hike which suggests that their margin was very high as also shown by your breakdown.
However, if Suzuki are really interested in selling good volumes they could potentially lower their margins and the bike could be cheaper by 4 or 5 lakhs.Live to ride.. ride to forget..

Yes I forgot that stupid duty hike. But taking that into account we get a saving of 2.5 lakh on the transfer prices. I remain skeptical on the 4-5 lakh cut.Originally posted by NiXTriX View PostThe Import duty for a CBU is 75% and not 60%.
For e.g. the Tiger 800XC went from CBU to CKD and actually became a little more expensive (granted, there was a model upgrade but still...)200 | 300 | 1200 BOXER
