Benelli Tornado 302 - SPIED in India

We had earlier reported that Chinese owned Italian motorcycle manufacturer Benelli has plans to launch the Tornado 302 in India this year. Now, as the reported launch date of the festive season approaches, a test mule of this faired sibling to the TNT300 has been spotted on the roads of Pune, Maharashtra.

Unveiled at the 2015 EICMA show in Milan, the Tornado 302 a.k.a. the 302R gets a 300cc liquid cooled, prallel twin cylinder engine as seen on the TNT300. This engine though, has been tuned to produce 34 hp and 27 Nm of torque as compared to the former state of tune that produced 27 hp and 26.5Nm. This engine will come mated to a a six speed transmission.

It is believed that the model will come equipped with ABS due to the upcoming safety norms that will come into effect in 2017 although it remains unclear whether ABS will be a standard feature. Once launched in India, the Benelli Tornado 302 will take on the likes of the Kawasaki Ninja 300 and the Yamaha R3. Expect the model to arrive with a price tag in the range of Rs. 3.15 lakh to Rs. 3.20 lakh (ex-showroom).

It looks fantastic in flesh.. Autoexpo 2016.. I have seen it.. but it looks awkward in test mule for some reason..

Never the less.. the bike might sell hot cakes if they manage to undercut the R3..

The TNT 300 sells pretty decent..

That's a stupid question. Bigger fairing =more speed. Especially on Indian roads.

Mandatory for new vehicles from April 2017
For existing vehicles from April 2018

If they launch the 302 before April 2017, they get a year to milk the customers with the Non-ABS version till they release the ABS version.

I think price will increase when they add ABS. they wont keep the price same. so basically we have to pay more for additional feature.

For me, even the showcased one looked bad....may be in flesh it might look slightly better.

Benelli has very strong design when comes naked but for fairing they are not even close. Nowadays more thoughts are given for reducing the fairing size but this bike has got more plastic.

Looks like ZMR V2 gone fat.

Nice to see full faired bike from Benelli at last on 300 segment, but if this comes up will they stop TNT benelli 300?
