Re: Karizma r and ZMR discontinued in india
News Approved.
The Karizma era might just come to an end soon...
An old tourer with thin tyres, lot of weight here and there, low power, etc can only be considered old & rejected, by the now saturated market, which now has access to a lot of choices. Gentlemen, the Pulsar vs Karizma war of the decade of 00's has ended.

Re: Karizma r and ZMR discontinued in india
I always belived the legend of Karizma R was dead in 2014. But still they can bring the old legend back in all her glory, with just minimalist styling changes(like a projector or led lights) + some modern equipments(read rear disc, FI etc) and it could be the thing just needed for the legend to rise again.
There was a time when these Karizmas made many jaws drop.
I never expected it to die like this. Hero very badly need to get rid of their designers.Ride, ride and ride.. But always do it responsibly..

Re: Karizma r and ZMR discontinued in india
The way the newer version has been received, Hero might not have any other option. Sooner or later, this had to be. But, apart from anything else, the legendary engine will be missed.A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

Re: Karizma r and ZMR discontinued in india
Karizma was definitely my first love. I still remember when I took a TD on the then "Hero Honda" Karizma in 2004. I was simply blown away!!! Got myself a Karizma after my first job (first bike from my own salary). Had a great time with so many miles spent together. Finally saw a new version launched and my hate towards it was instantaneous. I hated Hero for not upgrading the Karizma in the way Bajaj did for Pulsar brand. I hated EB for butchering the beauty I loved so much. I had a feeling that this was the beginning of the end of my old love Karizma.
I hoped I was wrong.
But sadly, I wasn't. This development confirms it.

Re: Karizma r and ZMR discontinued in india
I still remember the first time I was to purchase a friend's second hand Karizma... It was a dark blue bike with engraved Karizma logo on the tank. I had to be specifically told how to gearshift it because I was only riding a Centra 100 before it i.e. the toe lever confused me as to how will I upshift.
I still remember forcing my dad to go for it, while he refused because 60k was too much for a second hand bike according to him, way back in 2006 I think. But the feeling of owning the Karizma in a world of Pulsars, was unexplainable. It was the superbike of the earlier days, may I say. Premium it was, definitely. A senior used to bring one to college and it attracted the fair gender's attention a lot.
We all grew up, I got a P180 back then & now I have a Duke 390.
I don't know who to blame for this news. Maybe the 1000s of helmetless posers who form the market, and got new toys with passing time? Maybe we, the bikers?
It was us only, who flamed Hero Honda for introducing only color changes and not technical changes. Guess what? Hero Honda became Hero Motocorp. We got a full redesign and power increase. They did tune the Karizma to a 19.7 or so bhp engine, and guess what, we're still unsatisfied. We still want god knows how much, maybe 25 from this "off roading derived engine". Or maybe we wanted a better design in a "tourer"...
Ever heard the saying, "Everyone is talented in his own way, but if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, the fish will spend its whole life thinking its useless".
It is a long stroke off roading engine. And if you just wanted a bhp ace anyways, didn't you have enough choices anyways, specially the Pulsar 220? Why crib for a Karizma upgrade?
It still has more Low end torque than Duke 390, better take it from me, a 390 owner. And smoothness? Don't ever try finding a segment equal, coz there's none.
I guess, we should've kept our mouth shut as we always had a decent Touring option within 90k. Now we don't. Democracy can be such a double-edged sword, isn't it? It took me too years to realise this....
I've ridden a friend's Karizma for the past 1 year, as he went to Mumbai to be a movie star, he became a TV star though. Plus, I got a brand new ZMR from Hero as part of a Marketing Programme. A part of me will miss seeing the Legend of Karizma in the showrooms, even if I won't own one in my life.
Nothing to say really.

Re: Karizma r and ZMR discontinued in india
Sad news not as sad when they discontinued the original CBZ but indeed sad, I remember the day I first rode karizma, I was really happy with its smooth engine and handling and its design it was a different story everyone loved it. It was one of the milestone in Indian biking history and will go up as legend, a hero will always be remembered as one. But given the history of hero motocorp it has a tendency to ruin its good products they first did that with CBZ and then with Karizma both race winners turned to losers all by bad planning of Hero. Only thing I am happy about is the legend won't be ruined more by hero.

Re: Karizma r and ZMR discontinued in india
Guys,
Its irrelevant discussing whether it was the the power output, the looks or just the competition which caused Karizma series' sales to go down. Some of us have lots of good memories with Karizma. You may give Karizma a farewell too by your memories.
Allow me too, to share few photos of Karizma (R & ZMR) that I took all these years...

The Karizma R, of a friend alongwith my own Pulsar...

The Karizma ZMR, of another friend... First photo has me in it, second pic is of the bike owner.

ZMR & CBR... Doesn't it remind us of a corporate divorce? Well, here are the 2 flagships they put up against the competition....

This is me posing while I was on a one day journey around Udaipur with a good friend...

Karizma ZMR in Udaipur.

This is ZMR near the Ahmedabad NPP... The Ahmedabad Nuclear Power Plant, which produces electricity for many years with very little quantity of radioactive elements, and totally without pollution...
The smoke you may see, is actually just clean water which got boiled to cool the hard water's steam.

ZMR at the Tropic of Cancer, an imaginary line where the sun is exactly over the head at around noon time (on 21st June or so)....

These are the hanging cubes, near Fateh Sagar Lake in Udaipur... Its also called "FS" by residents, and its busy till 12'o clock in the night...

A beautiful journey ends, so that more can take place.... I wish Hero Motocorp all the best for their future products.

I was having a Sky blue color Karizma from 2006-2014.. had ridden total of 27000 kms on it & then sold to a friend & moved on to RE. what a well built bike it was! a smooth performer. Though i also like the latest ZMR in white color. it looks sporty from rear. would love to ride it

Re: Karizma r and ZMR discontinued in india
I am a Karizma fan boy right from the day it was launched in the year 2003.. got my first Pearl Composed Red Karizma back in 2003 and used it till the 2009 before I moved to Delhi.. After coming to Delhi, I booked myself a black ZMR in Feb 2010 which I still ride till now.. The bike deserves respect..
I personally felt the New ZMR looks sweet but the Karizma R was spoiled in terms of looks.. but again, it is just my opinion..
my Love for the Karizma twins will never fade...
Hope Hero Motocorp Resurrects the Karizma Twins soon

Re: Karizma r and ZMR discontinued in india
Hero is coming up with updated versions of karizma brothers soon. I am 99% sure they are not discontinuing it. In fact as per my knowledge they are coming with some new production ready products at upcoming Auto Expo in Feb.sigpic
A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith and use up a lot of fuel....
