Re: Kawasaki revealed the new Ninja 400

Kawasaki will never make low cost bikes for India, Kawasaki has placed itself as a premium bike company here in India. I don't think they would want to 'destroy' their premium image by making low cost single cylinder bikes.

Cheapest in their line up is Z125 which costs 1.5 INR , So Next Cheapest is Z250SL ABS which is 2.5INR , not really cheap bikes as per Indian standards .----consecutive posts auto-merged-----

Triumph has no other option to venture into new markets. Their home market is pretty limited, aging and has pathetic climate conditions for riders. Same is the case with US. That’s why you see many brands are coming to Asian markets.

Both can’t be compared to kawa in any scenario.
Africa Twin only got fame because of Dakar Scene , Tiger and GS owners will never shift nor will Africa Twin will dominate Premium Adventure segment. with F700GS and F800GS all set to make India debut soon , fight will remain between Tiger and BMW GS for many Tourers to choose from. Honda in Premium segment is lost in most markets they gained some traction recently only because of CBR250RR but N400 and N250 will again take that back

Initial Reviews are coming in.. Seems to be pocket rocket. More eager and rev-happy than Ninja 650, a significant improvement over the old legend Ninja 300.

        Gorgeous in Black!

Also it seems from this test there is no loss in power in dyno runs, it returns 44hp at rear wheel.

Dont know how true it is, but the sales manager at my local Kawasaki showroom was very confident in saying that Ninja 400 wont make it to India.

Who would want to spend 5l on a 400 cc when dominar 400 is available for 1.5l.
Both are not the same, but price difference is over 3 times the cost of dominar. Makes sense to me. They should not launch.

That's why they didn't showcase it at the 2018 Auto Expo huh. So the R3 will remain king in the twin cylinder segment below ₹6lakhs having got better Metzeler tyres and ABS now!

I think they will HAVE TO launch it anyhow. Think about it:- How will they sustain their showrooms after separating from KTM-Bajaj? Dealerships will only renew their interest, with newer products/ models so that cash keeps coming in.
Any company must have a bottom end product anyhow, that drives their sales volumes.

In my opinion, they can try specific cost cutting while keeping an eye on quality, and launch the Ninja 400 here.
The price is still worrying though. It won't go as low with Kawasaki's QC, but let's see...

Wat?.... Are u seriously comparing dominar 400 with the Ninja 400?..... Do u even know that Domi is not even close to the Ninja 400. There is reason y Ninja has a higher price tag. That bike has a serious performence figs that almost matches with some of thr own 650 lineup. Its really ridiculous to compare ninja 400 to Domi. Simply adding 400 to a bikes name doesn't make that bike with the performence of 400cc. U should have said the r3 instead of Domi. [emoji85]

Agree with you on this when R15 was launched in india the 150 cc market was no were in comparision. As years moved on though there was drastic rise in price of 150cc bikes yamaha cleverly started manufacturing it in india with no major rise in price likewise u cannot compare a premium offering with a mass market one .

Even my Local Kawa Guy is not sure and failure of not getting displayed at AutoExpo means Kawasaki is certainly not planning immediate launch . One former Kawa guy told me that as per his former colleagues in the company it might happen only in Q3 which means anytime in months of OCT/NOV/DEC which is seriously too late ,since this bike is already been sold in Thailand from where Kawa usually imports CKD bikes to India .

I went to Yamaha to get price details of R3 , they have no idea and really sloppy sales team they have . On the face i was told three months waiting without actually checking with the company .

Anyone seen this ? Or is it an April fool joke..
If the news is true, I think the pricing is a bit too high. 4.69 ex showroom translates to almost 5-5.2 lakhs on road for a 400cc. Combine it with kawasaki's famed service costs and it's elder sibling the Ninja 650 is only 6+ lakhs on road.Click image for larger version

Ninja 400 was launched in other countries at the same price at which Ninja 300 was sold. However, we will get this motorcycle with a 30 percent increase over the price of Ninja 300.

                            Kawasaki, you......🤔👿

Damn, when I thought Versys 300 pricing was the most absurd, IKM have proved themselves wrong again.

Ninja 400 has zero value proposition when compared with new R3 ABS variant.

The prospective customer is better off with the proper middleweight Ninja 650 for a very slight price bump.

From the international reviews what Kawasaki has done is, reduced the all round character of Ninja 300, and increased the sportiness in both power delivery and ergonomics of Ninja 400.

The only striking feature above R3 is Full LED headlamps in N400, though we can't be sure if it's as good as new the N1000 ones.

Finally, the new Ninja 400 experience costs nearly ₹1.2 lakhs more than R3 and ₹70,000 less than Ninja 650, WORTH it in India?

                              I don't think so..

                              Cheers!

Though the price can't be justified, the Kawa makes more power - almost 10bhp more than the R3 according to the Dyno. Also has slipper clutch. Finally gets ABS. Led lights. That's it.
Plonk in a lakh more and you get almost 70bhp. At this price point, I guess prospective owners wouldn't mind that extra lakh.
