are you such an expert that you can 'know it all' by just watching some videos ?
People posting on youtube are the ultimate authority / experts ?
If you think just going by online reviews is fine, then so be it for yourself.

There are folks who need a test ride to better understand and get a real feel of the bike before they take a decision. This does not make them 'dumb' and they needn't unearth some miracle for the rest of the world to notice. A test ride would be for them to get hands on and personal with the bike rather than believing what some chum on YouTube says.

And yeh, i would love to have a test ride too (even though I am not buying that bike , can't afford to own every damn two wheeler around).

My RTR is 3+ years old now, never had the fiber breaking issue, touch wood.

Also, Wheel base low? how does a short wheel base lead to scrapes?

After owning karizma and p220 for a good amount of time, my understanding changed.

Many of the fiber parts break on our rough roads easily and cost a bomb to replace.

RR may have 180mm of ground clearance but beware. It’s wheel base is low too. So karizma or 220 might not scrape speed breakers but RR310 will scrape. That’s a big concern for me.

With due respect to your comments, a Test Ride is a must to feel the bike and judge the bike by his own experience, riding style.. Auto Journal, most likely wear riding gear and test them to limits, which most practically for us isn't possible and neither needed on road..

Someone upgrading to Apache RR310 would come from riding 150cc - 200 bikes..

- first & foremost, seating position, riding position, which you can't findout from the review..Some can understand, nothing beats a first hand feel of it..
- Riding style, gear shits..Some like to revv and shift gear, some just shift gear & open the throttle..
- Gear shift..Most of us wear slippers/sandals/shoes 50: 50 of the time during commuting.. Whether good as unicorn (or) rough can only be felt by riding it..
- Pillion seat, comfort.. This in only possible with your friend/family person & make them sit on the bike and ask if it is comfortable..
- Low speeds, at what speed what gear, best to be judged by the person riding it..
- Maneuvering the bike (when off) to check the weight and if you can really sneak it from the cinema parking lot..
- Headlights - spread & throw.. Not something that matters for someone who live in the city, but for someone like me from the rural area, where there are not mcuh illumination..
- seat comfort / Rear suspension - If it is hard/soft, what it feels like to bump a small pot hole at slow speeds, movement of rider when braking..
- Vibrations when idle (or) in motion..

There could also be other things with other riders who don't pen down this, but do it on the fly when test riding a bike..

it is good to take the reviews with a pinch of salt, always good to get first hand experience of the bike (test ride) and then put down the money if he thinks it is worth it..

Note : I pinged TVS motors on facebook messenger that i have been denied a test ride by Chennai dealers, and they took my contact details and updated me that they will contact me when they are ready with test rides.. Something that is amusing when the actual delivery has started..

Exactly. If the 2015 R3 had the abs, I would have got a used one instantly.
The RR is around 2.3L and the R3 is around 3.9-4L on road. That's 1.7L to be exact.

how is it costlier by 2 lakhs? The RR comes at near 2.6, R3 is at 3.6

Yes the frame is the only concern for me. The USD should be fine, the LED is cosmetic, I can live without.

I had a similar confusion. But my financial options are limited. Hence chose the RR. The R3 is a beautiful bike.
One of the smoothest engines out there and the build quality is top notch.
It costs almost 2 lakhs over the RR. I wish I could get it now 😋
If you have the cash, go for it. No single cylinder can match the parallel twin engine. Though it lacks the bi-led lights, upside down forks, trellis frame etc, I think these are things you'll sorely miss on a track.
For normal touring, it would still be exceptional.

Not sure if the right thread to ask this, But I am confused between the R3 and the RR310.
I currently own an RTR 180 ABS and ABS is a prerequisite . Now that the R3 is updated, I am really inclined towards it.

Pros and Cons of going for one vs the other?
One major requirement is ease of driving, not too dedicated a riding posture or vibrations.
The vibes on my RTR are a major mood killer and hand numb-er for me.

Finally got a chance to view RR310 in person. My opinion is as follows.

Following are the positives.
- Everyone who discussed their experience in this thread is right to a greater extent.
- Bike looks big. But too short in length. It will be Agile. Very Agile.
- I am 6 foot tall and i can easily tough my feet to ground and can bend my knees to a fair extent. Very comfortable.
- Foot pegs and handle bar are soooo Comfortable.
- Looks neat. Finishing is great. Nothing to Complain on the finishing part.
- Red looks sexy.
- Switch Gear and console are good and provide all info you possibly need.
- Rear seat is usable. Even adults can use it. (Read my negatives.)
- Matt Black is Sexy. I am one of the admirers of Black. It looked sooooo good.
- Red one looks Awesome. No wonder why it has so many bookings. But i am a black person, so. Black looks better than Red.
- Finish and Fit is great. No one can question anything here.
- No TD in my city, so cant comment on power. As per reviews, its great.


Zma has taught me somethings, which are very important in ones ownership. Following are the negatives (in my opinion)
- Seat and Tank are Balls Blaster. Too little space to let air for your nuts. Need an air bag for Nuts.
- I am 6 foot tall. Seat is very Comfy. But getting on the bike and off the bike for me is a pain. Shorter folks are going to fall down to ground at least once in their ownership. Would be bad if they fall down on their first date Climbing on it means, you should be able to stretch your legs apart by over 50 degrees. For shorter folks, it may be 65 degrees. Should join Gymnastics, if you cant stretch your legs this much apart.
- Rear seat is usable and comfy once you are on. But can be used by only those who actively do some workouts. Because, getting on it is a workout. With my height, i found it difficult to climb. for Shorter folks it will be a tough job. For women (sis/wife) in traditional Indian Punjabi dresses, Much more difficult. They will have at least one pair of torn clothes with this bike. Forget taking your mom or aunt on bike. Tell them its a single seater and the rear seat is a dummy. (Because, they question everything we do)
- Under seat panels quality is not up to mark (Referring Karizma here). One ugly pothole or monstrous speed breaker, this is gone.
- The way under engine panel is fixed with side panels, If under engine panel takes a heavy hit, expect side panels to conk off. They are interconnected too closely. and the plastic is light weight. This is bad, because if one takes a hit, rest all take a hit too. I wouldn't be surprised, if this impacts the top cowls too. but Not sure of front panels.
- The panels are WIDE. Too WIDE. I am afraid of its survival on our roads. Because, the more wide they are, the more weaker they are. They need to be close and strong. but the case is exact opposite here.
- Maintaining that black is going to be a pain. Sad. More time to clean the bike. Its good and it contributes to the workout needed for the rider though. Red could be easily maintainable i think.
- If engine vibrates, i doubt the panels reliability. Because, plastic panels survival heavily depends on vibrations. If the engine Vibrates more, these take tremendous hit.
- Rear seat panels flex when pressed with thumb.
- Every time, i want to climb down the bike from Saddle, my right foot touches the rear seat panels. If i wear heavy woodlands, then rear panels vs my Woodland shoe. God. Can This be fixed?? Doubt. The bike is wide, which means, its wider than our legs stretched. Not sure if we can adjust. Owners can confirm.

Will i consider buying it?
Yes and NO.
Yes, if i have a secondary bike and i use this as only touring machine. This is a privilege in India, which very few people have. I am not one of them.
No, if this is going to be my primary bike. I had sleepless nights because of those panels taking hit on my Zma. With this, its a different game altogether.

That's because black has 90% lesser bookings. And the bikes are ready. They cannot make enough bikes, hence the delay.

Also the performance figures, tvs takes an average. Not the best, because of various reasons

The colour defect reason was given to me as well. I was told to get the black one and get done with the purchase once and for all which is available immediately. This was a week back.

A couple of days back talked to the person who is managing the bookings. His name is Shree. He told me that there are 12 red bookings ahead of me. I am the 13th. And none of the bikes have left from Hosur. They are supposed to leave from Hosur this week. Allotment call will be made if the required number of bikes leave from Hosur. If 13 red bikes leave from Hosur, I will get the call the same day. These will take a week to reach Mumbai post which RTO formalities which will take another week. So far only 3 red deliveries have been made. So nothing concrete at the moment. The earliest I am expecting delivery is Feb end. Though now I am bit finnicky about the quality inspection that would be done at their end cause they would now be operating at more than 100% efficiency due to BMW production and their own as well.

And for the guys who are complaining about no TDs. Seriously guys are you people some serious technical and experienced riders who would make a judgement within 15 minutes being on the bike !? I think the YouTube reviews are all enough for me. Idk how a vbox test can be staged incase you guys think that the bike is being projected faster than it actually is. Other mechanical things can be checked in the display bikes as well. Like what serious shit can you guys unearth which the experienced reviewers couldn't get !?

Okay. One more thing. The person who was riding the dominar in the motorbeam video of drag race between RC390, RR310 and dominar, he was the among the 1st buyer of Apache 310 RR on the day the deliveries started. I was there during the time of deliveries. He had the bike to him during review for a whole day. He said there are vibrations but nothing too serious. He was mighty impressed with the bike. If that's some consolation for people wanting the TD. Although not even allowing people to sit on the bike is a little too extreme. We were allowed TD in the dealership compound. Just a small TD which I took after a month of booking the bike.

The main reason is bmw! They got to make the bmw bikes first and then the RR. BMW sales are better than ever, and it's only getting better.
You'll have to lose something to gain something. So tvs can't produce as many as they would like.
