Why cant companies build decent middleweights with acceptable (150-160 KG) kerb weights.

For that to happen, Honda needs to send its engineers to Daytona facility for training.

No for that to happen, Honda needs to use an aluminium frame instead of the steel frame the 650 has currently. But when that happens, price goes up obviously and then people will cry even more
To be honest Honda has nothing to prove given it's history of constant and often jaw dropping and even risky innovation-for eg the NR 750 or the gear driven cam vfrs. These cutting edge European brands you see today happily copied some of ideas from their early models
I think Honda has lost its appetite and motivation for the cutting edge given the decline in the European market. At the end of the day profits have to be made. And they are in activas and cb shines so that is what we get.
The CBR650f's predecessor(even though the 650f is a new design even engine wise), the cbr600f4- my current bike-models had proper aluminium twin spar frames and weighed in at ~ 160-dry and this is 2001 I am talking about so not that Honda doesn't know how to produce a lightweight bike
The moment India starts buying 600 class in bulk, you'd see the Japs dropping proper but mass produced and hence cheap supersports

Honda was a king of motorcycles in 90s. They came up with the formula of light weight and high power race replicas. RR was their invention.
But now that Honda is gone. Only the Honda which makes small puny scooters.
