The New Price
Indian government slashed the custom duty on Completely Built Up (CBU) products. The duty on CBU products has been reduced from 75 percent to 50 percent. As a result, a lot of the manufacturers have reduced the prices of their motorcycles models that are imported as CBUs. Honda has also joined the party by slashing the price of their Fireblade range. The prices of both the Honda CBR1000RR and the CBR1000RR SP have been reduced.
To be precise, the price of the Honda CBR1000RR has dipped from Rs 16.78 lakh to Rs 14.78 lakh. On the other hand, the more premium CBR1000RR SP sees its current price tag at Rs 18.68 lakh compared to its earlier price of Rs 21.22 lakh. (Both prices are ex-showroom, Delhi)
Honda CBR1000RR and CBR1000RR SP
The 2018 Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade draws power from a 999cc, inline four-cylinder engine mated to a six-speed transmission. The fuel injected motor is good for churning out power and torque figures of 189 bhp and 114 Nm respectively. The braking on the Honda CBR1000RR is taken care of by twin 320mm disc brakes up front along with a single 220mm disc brake at the rear. ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) comes as standard to enhance safety and improve braking.

The 2018 Fireblade has also joined the ‘electronic rider aid revolution’. It comes shod with a traction control system, selectable engine braking function, electronic steering damper and much more. It also gets a coloured TFT instrument cluster. Honda claims that the new model is lighter by 16 kg and its kerb weight now stands at 195 kg. This reduction in weight is said to improve the handling and make the Fireblade more agile.
