As much as I hate the pricing of these bikes, I completely understand why BMW has done this and would have done the same.
KTM has served as a lesson, we all know that there is a large segment of KTM owners who have given the brand a bad name, I'm talking about the rowdy middle class kids who ride with chappals and no helmet, weaving dangerously through traffic. I see them all the time in Hyderabad. There is absolutely no way BMW would want their brand associated in anyway with that kind of behaviour or those kinds of people since it would hugely impact their Luxury brand image in India which is their primary focus.
It isn't really BMWs fault, a business will do what it must to protect it self. If you want to blame someone, blame our government for issuing licenses so easily and freely and not enforcing traffic rules.
