Cmon I was expecting actual D390 adv pics as you mentioned earlier.
Such mods are there in my brother's D200.
Seems you wanted to mention modified D390s

Power is relative, a 34bhp 310r will feel like super sport to someone riding a 100cc 9 bhp bike, but the same bike may feel like a dub to someone riding an inlinefour 600. I personally feel 33bhp for a 169kg bike is not really underpowered and decent enough for touring in our Indian conditions. I also felt the G310 gs has better low-end torque compared to duke 390 or even compared to the Versys 650. 390duke wakes up only post 5500revs and you got to constantly work on the gears under that RPM. Even the versys 650 feels jittery at 25kmph in 2nd gear, but the 310gs was at ease at 15kmph in 2nd gear, a boon for traffic.
Agreed that power is relative and for riders like you, who are coming down from high powered bikes, your main requirement will be a lightweight adventure to flick around the street and to take it out on the trails. But, for guys like me, who are planning to upgrade from the Pulsars 180-200-220 and the Apaches 160-180-200, the power to weight ratio of 310 GS will definitely not feel like Super Sport. Very soon it won't be fun to see this G310 GS maxing out at around 145 km/h on the highways. Also, there is no fault in a buyer expecting a bike with power, which at least matches the likes of Ninja 300, Yamaha R3 and 390 twins, while they are paying a substantial amount of premium price over these bikes.

Surprised to know that G310 GS has better low end torque than Versys 650. The weight of the Versys 650 and the fact that it makes 65Nm torque at higher rpm of 7500 is not sufficient unlike it's other 650 siblings which make the same amount of torque at 6500 rpm, also with less weight of around 30-40 kgs.

He clearly said D390 ADVs. The Adventure variant is simply called KTM 390 Adventure, its not a Duke

Power on motorcycle is never enough, the more the merrier. having said that, i guess at personal level we have to draw the line somewhere which could be driven by budget, riding style, terrain etc. Else freeze on one, and there is always another bike with some extra power available to confuse us. Just look at the lineup in kawasaki itself, they have plethora of bikes starting from Z250 to H2 and everything in between. Like you mentioned, folks who are looking at upgrading from Pulsars and Apaches looking for powerful bikes will will look at G310R, if they really have to, and not GS. And we all know G310R DOES-NOT stand a chance when compared to KTMs or RR310s interms of price, power and features, etc etc. Adventure Touring category is a bit different and niche segment, where importance is given to comfort, ergonomics, suspension, luggage carrying provisions, tank range, weight, protection from the elements, etc. Torque takes prominence over BHP. I have been saying that its not right to compare both the BMW bikes to others in a generic way. If a buyer is buying an adventure tourer and expecting it to behave like a pocket rocket naked then his is got his priorities wrong in the first place.

My personal view after taking TD of G310R last Sunday.

                  --Looks good

                  --Engine is great, no doubt

--The TD vehicle had loose chain issue, clutch was not upto mark (should be particular vehicle issue), when informed the BMW mottarad rep said its due to 185km runin from morning. Was disappointed as for just 185km with different people using the bike if we see issues then its not right.

--I felt the engine noise (exhaust note) was not upto mark, no sign of any premium feel (not expecting to hear like twin cylinder but this was something i didnt like)

--I know its over priced but i wanted to TD first before making a decision and after the above feel i decided to cancel my booking instantly

--And like many I didn't like the pricing

--Cancellation needs mail notification as suggested by BMW so sent mail to them and got notification today that it will take 15-20 working days to get my booking amount back

Back to square one, what bike??? My wait of several months gone in vain.

For those who booked and going ahead, good luck and hope you enjoy the experience-do share your ownership experience.

There are so many options today compared to 8 yrs back when only motorcycle above 250cc was Royal Enfield. Today we have the KTM lineup, new ninja300, TVS RR310, R3, CBR, Z250, Dominar, TNT300 to name a few in that price and displacement bracket, and many other as well. Test ride them and select the one which works for you. Its exciting time in India for biking enthusiasts with the available options and will only get better from here with subsequent years.

Test rode the 310GS AGAIN yesterday - a slightly longish ride. Few added observations:
                          Bike is tall.
Needs atleast 2" handle bar risers for very upright posture, else torso upwards is slightly leaning in. Bar risers would also help in standing on the pegs, as currently its not very natural when one stands.
Rear brake pedal position feels awkward, as if one would miss it. Not sure if its adjustable, or if one will get used to it.
The headlight assembly fitment is shaky as pointed out by so many people and reviews. the movement can be seen from the rear side as well.
Fit and finish it nice, however the cowls and shrouds around the headlight looked bit on the flimsy side, incase of a topple.
Tank feels big and wide, pity its only 11 odd lts. Wonder what all they are doing underneath that cover.
Mirrors are just about ok, will need extenders for cleat view. Bar risers may help a bit.
Horn is useless like most bike which are made for export. Will require an aftermarket louder option for sure.
The bike leans in drastically quick in corners, not sure if its the tyre profile or 19 and 17 size. will require getting used to.
                          Braking felt just about ok.
Suspension is very soft, esp the rear one. feels like sitting on a rocking chair.
Power is linear and not intimidating. People looking for power or folks used to riding bigger bikes will get bored with this on the highway. 310gs makes a good case for country roads and city commute.
Very good low end torque/ride-ability at lower speeds. Easy to take corners and speed breakers in 2nd gear, no need to shift to first.
Exhaust note is underwhelming, nothing to write home about. Aftermarket options may help but again cost??

Overall, the bike would require a fair bit of customization to suit individual rider, which would further take the cost high for an already over priced bike. Not everyone's cup of tea after the initial honeymoon period is over.

From what I have been told, the R1200GS costs between 10K to 15K for a service. Considering that it is once a year or every 10K kms, it seems manageable but this much for a 310 is really pushing it....

Must be a record for a made in India motorcycle to have such high service costs! I expected somewhere between 3k-4k but this is just daylight robbery. Triumph, HD and Kawasaki service costs sound like a bargain now. 😂
