This is sad actually. Newer technolgies should flourish. But then again, one look at ownership thread, I am tempted to say they couldnt pull it off with the Fi.

This is one bike I came close to buying in April before I was transferred from Hyd.

I only found this diff Vissually from the RTR160.

And the Carb had a red cap on the top. Wonder wht is tht for. Could'nt take a ride though. Waited for a few hours chatted with some folks and i noticed Sandeep's Fi was at the svc(http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/help-me/7839-help-tvs-apache-rtr-fi-rear-disc-brake-issue.html).Its a diff story.

I confirmed whether the Showroom guys hve started to give test rides and went there. they put up white 180 for display!. Got the quote for the bike

    price - 66,090
    others -9,280
OTR - 75,370 (700-1000 rs lesser than the FI)

They had White, grey and Black with them. They are expecting Red in few days. Booking have started and will be delivered during the launch date (witihin 5-6days). And they think tht Fi's would be stopped in a few days as well

Took a test ride (pathetic test ride i ever had). Was expecting to take it to necklece road and test it for atleast 2kms. All i could manage was 500mtrs of ride within small gulli's near the showroom.

here's what i could fiure out. Bike was brand new. had only 3kms on the Odo.

Found No diff in vibes, engine harsness between 160 and 180. Vibes between 5-6k rpm is still there Infact my 160 was better in these regard.

It had a good torque. Pulled effortlessly even with a 80-90kg pillion.

Pulled it till 9k rpm in first 2 gears. Decent accelaration even with a heavy pillion. Speedo was disconnected so i could'nt figure out the speed, gearings and other stuffs.

This is all what i could manage.

Argued with the guy who accompined me for the test ride as to why am not allowed a longer testride. Was so pissed off with their attitude tht is gve the bike back to him and walked back to the showroom. Kiran commercilas has become pathetic! Complained to the manager and i took off. he promised me a better test ride after a couple of days once they have all the papers.
did u ask the SVC if any parts from the 180 could be used on the 160?

I really dont think any reason of disappointment...

Its a regular job a company has to do to keep pace with the market...

Anywaz, I feel RTR FI 160 would soon be replaced by the FI version of rtr 180....!

With that kind of price difference between the RTR 180 and RTR 160 Fi, I am not sure who would still prefer the RTR 160 Fi over the RTR 180..

    Just what I thought.

anyway the RTR 180 would definitely be more fun than the RTR 160 Fi

And soon, Apache owners will be able to go even faster. Later in the day, TVS officials announced that the company will launch a racing kit for the Apache some time in July. This is the second such kit that the company will offer, the first being for the Shogun almost twenty years back. It will consist of several go-faster parts like a free-flow exhaust, air filter, bigger jets or carb, perhaps even a high-lift camshaft. At least in terms of being a pocket rocket, the Apache looks set to make the Shogun proud. Hope they throw in better rubber too. As it stands now, the Apache 180 is a solid improvement and is the Apache to buy today. And do remember to slap on the racing kit when it comes out!
