well i wish if they start off with a 150cc 15 hp bike instead of those eco bikes.but suzuki already knows the indian market well so they have the right cards.
Where there is a will there is a way! Where there is a way there is a Fiero! Where there is a Fiero there is a Fieroid!

To sell they will have to target the rural & small town mkts but it is in those places where suzuki wont be known as a really good manufacturer of two wheelers (unless they use their sbks to showcase their capability, sounds stupid though!)...125cc mkt is dying fast but I dont think the demise will b that fast. See the discover for instance. BUt a strat with a 150 would have been better, esp as the competition is heating up in this segment and these bikes been positioned as a commuter segment fast..thanx to the pulsars & the fieros...& now the Unicorn...they might as well revise their targets..somebody stop them!!!!!!
With great power, comes great responsibility- to man, machine and especially to mother nature.

        nope joel,
suzuki has read the market wrong this time
it feels 125cc will still be the mass market in oct 2005
i see more pulsars+cbz on road than wind+discover+glx+fazer
with the mileage that pulsar is giving lot s of people have shifted to 150cc rather than the puny 125cc's

so by next year, the market is sure to tend towards more cc bikes with 150 cc becoming entry level Executive segment(forget about CT100 and CD-Dawn)

by the time suzuki comes in the market will already be occupied by the new pulsar and unicorn leaving very little market share for 125cc segment

i see bleak days for suzuki with misinterpreted analysis of the market

the only way it can beat others is by providing a highly efficient 125cc with specs similar to the 150cc's and price comparable to discover sort of bikes which is not likely to happen

Everyone crashes. Some get back on. Some don\'t. Some can\'t.

thank god, atleast honda has proper marketing staff who know the indian bike market
other wise we wud have seen a 125cc or 100cc unicorn
i hope they observe the sales of comet and plan for manufacturing such bikes in india for a price tag belox 1 lac.

now BAL and TVS guys can be rest assured they have only one big competition that is Honda
Suzuki is out even before they have entered the market with their 125cc CHUSAAAAAAAA!!!!

just look at the bikes we have:
              100cc crap
              110cc victor(+10cc)
              115cc caliber(+5cc)
              125cc extra crap(+10cc)
              135cc ambition(+10cc)
              150cc premium crap(+15cc)
              175cc eliminator(+25cc)
              180cc pulsar(+5cc)
              225cc karizma(+45cc)

y do companies have such a small diff in cc's in their models which wud result in each model eating up the sales of other and later phasing out of the models(caliber 115, Wind)

i feel thy should create distinct market segments and try improving their products in each segment

Everyone crashes. Some get back on. Some don\'t. Some can\'t.

Our thinking is different from the public at large....here are some statistics

Do you guys know how many motorcycles are sold by HH in a month....About 2 lakh plus and of which Splendor is about 90 thousand, Passion about 40 thou and CD dawn about 50 thousand (all havng the same engine ).... ambition about 10 to 15 thousand and rest CBZ and ZMA

Bajaj sells about 1.1 lakh motorcycles a month of which 80 thousand is CT 100 / Boxer and 10 thousand of Caliber and wind and about 20 thousand Pulsars. Another 15 thousand of it are scooters.

TVS sells about 60 thousand motorcycles of which majority are Victor and Centra. Another 40 thousand are scootys and mopeds

Yamaha / Kinetic and LML are too insignificant. in fact last month Graptor sold a meagre 350 units and Fazer 1500 nos. Comet for the entire year is planned only for 500 numbers. Aquila barely managed to sell 200 plus units in a year.

In this scenario our voice is very feeble [V] or never heard compared to the commuters at large segment....we are talking about 3.5 lakh vehicles in 100 to 125 CC compared to 30-40 thousand 150 CC bikes and 1000 bikes above 150 CC...so why should Suzuki come out with high end motorcycle? In 10 years we havent graduated beyond 125 CC and in one year how do you expect the market to react towards us???? THink about it...and let me know

                      well said pedro.

i think all the companies r playin it safe... inrtoducing their models in the sure-win category.. its their evolution which matters, n how deep r they willing 2 put their foot in d indian market.

Sure, it seems dazzling 2 us tht suzuki will b here with a big bang n launch theie heavy machines here.... how many takers will they have?

the comet is on d verge of a launch.. n its created a huge wave of excitement in d site...everyones excited bout itn praising kinetic for taking d bold step, but did u happen 2 read the forum topic which discusses the qty of people on d site who would actually consider buyin a comet? i think even on this site, it must be only 10 - 15% who seriously give it a thought 2 buy it....

we keep oogling at machines, we do not buy..

n its the sales which the companies look at, not the amount of drool their machines collect.

ultimately, its the companies profits tht matter.. the commuter segment is a time proven success path for all the companies here in India.

All we can hope tht after they quench thier thirst with their strong foothold in d indian market, they would not neglect the people like us who keep craving for power.
                      frightened already?!

Every bike co. will think of a major profit and market building and that can be achieved in the economy segment.

                        Wt say ppl???
                        Take care!

well said pedro....but another thinng to look at is how many ppl r willing/able to buy comet at 167000?....u can count em on fingers....companies look at mass sales and not jus selling a few 100 bikes

btw, does kinetic really has the back up infrastructure for comet?

why can't these japs see that we need power bikes now...they launched power bikes in 1980's when it seems india was just riding bullock carts.they din't have enuf buying power.
give us a 150cc bike, which makes 20 bhp, not that unbelievable, cause the RXZ sold round the world makes around 18.5 PS, still gives economy of round 35-40 (excellent)
karitzma, don make me puke ma guts out, please
