Just got home and logged to see the progress in the thread. I did go through all the previous posts and the pricing too!
Well then, my theories on the pricing have fallen flat (though it was fun!)...
But after doing some research on the net (read checking up specs of the 2010 Ninja), I must say that Bajaj has done a fantabulous job on the pricing. The Kawasaki website lists the 2010 Ninja price as between $4300-4500, and that is only for the carb version. The version we get, it appears is the FI one, which obviously costs more than the US version. So a Rs.2.67 ex-showroom price is extremely aggressive, and Bajaj deserves kudos for doing this - I am sure they are not making a great deal of margins on this bike. Hope other manufacturers would look at this as an example of how to price other sports bikes aggressively. As for me, I am going to plonk whole of 3 lakhs at the nearest Probiking showroom as soon as the Ninja 250 R hits Bangalore... This price is a lakh over what I expected, but there is no rationale to indulgence, is there?
