  • Three year old in delhi gets a motorcycle license

A three-year-old boy has been granted a special licence to ride a motorcycle by judges in India.

Azeem Khan had to prove he could control the powerful Royal Enfield Bullet after his dad added special extensions to the controls so he could reach them.
"He is much safer than most adult drivers I know," said proud dad Shantanu, of New Delhi.
"I used to sit him on my bike and he would always grab at the controls. One day he will be a professional racer for sure," he added.
But Azeem, who turns four next month, is not allowed out on the main roads on his own.
"Of course I won't let him drive on the busy roads without me on the bike as well. I trust Azeem but I don't trust other drivers," he said.
And the pint-sized biker already has his sights set on his next set of wheels.
"What he really wants is a Harley Davidson but he'll have to wait a few more years for that," added his father.

Thats a father with lots or +ve thinking.
But in most of the cases
"I will not let u ride a bike until your feets touches the ground properly, only then you will be able to control the bike till then no argue" or " BHUL JAO until you get your license" or "Abhi tum bache ho" etc etc

If every father in india is like Azeem's father we would produce thousands of HAGA every year

This is not a great news......Here in chennai I've seen many children riding bikes....But 3 years is something to cheer about the boy......

Riding is an Art.....and to learn this first of all he needs to Grow up....

Controlling the bike without falling is not a big deal.....

+1 , riding/driving is not merely the use of ABC (accel-brake-clutch) and able to turn/steer. Its much more than that. You need to be mature enough to learn the dynamics of traffic nd follow rules and discipline.

              huh crap..
govt is giving license to those people whose feets dozent touches to the ground..
what happens if by chance he fell off from the bike
would he be able to lift it up??

what about those people who might be 17 and is completley capable for riding bikes and also knows how to ride a bike, then govt should provide license to them as well..

Totally agree with this part. Which is why I NEVER ask my son to ride on the roads nor in traffic.

This is a horrendous mistake. Talents should be recognised in right categories only and to let a kid do this even for a testing purpose is grossly insane. What if the bike fell at the time of testing itself? We all know what can happen even before adults reach for help and I am not too sure if a three year old can stop a bike from sliding/falling. Hope this does not start any war where other parents decide to outdo other so called proud parents as is the tendency in India generally. Lets not publicise this thing too much guys. I for one will not discuss this with anyone. My views. Sorry if they seem strong but I think for the betterment and safety of our young ones we have to take some.

                      nonsense.
great that a kid can ride but its stupid to grant him license.he should just stick to some TV shows, not to the roads.
                      i agree with Varun.
now EVERY pre-18s who can ride have a right to demand a license.

btw how does he stop the bike if he cant reach the ground?

In India, we may get a lot of things going in the name of Child Prodigy. I don't find it funny, but I find it foolish on the part of someone who GRANTED a driving license. Well, as in that case, a child can get a driving license after attaching a welded accelerator and brake.... Utter Crap....

Also, we are mature only at the age of 18 to cast a vote.... and similarly to marry or to have SEX with someone.... anything earlier than that is a CRIME.

I would not be amazed if the other day I read a news saying Marriage certificate issued to a 8 years old guy because he HAD something BIG enough to bring a MAN to shame.

                        This happens only in INDIA
Its not about the BHP or the CC, its about one common religion called Biking!!!

The boy is innocent and his father is putting his life in DANGER by himself just for a little publicity. Be Practical how he is going to stop the bike if his feet can't touch the ground.

@Bibhu: Do you have any sources or news article if you can post here about this. Bcz I simply can't believe that govt. can grant license to a baby.

From a legal point of view, as a lawyer, I am of the opinion that such a decision is unconstitutional. Everybody has a right to a safe environment including the child in question. By granting this order the judge is endangering not only the child but others also.

Furthermore, it is a general principle of law that when a permit is granted to somebody, it is general understanding that the grantee is competent to understand the nature of the permit. The grantee should have attained enough maturity of mind in order to understand responsibilities inferred upon by the permit and the consequences of violations of the same. That is the very reason why underage riding or driving is prohibited. I strongly reject the notion that a 3 year old possess the mental capacity to fully understand the obligations related to riding a two wheeler on the road.
I am shocked at the judge's decision. It is my view that the judgment should be reviewed and set aside.
