If you apply this formula, then i don't think you can call anything sport.

Crazy place we live in.
F1 is not a sport..!!
wearing riding gears makes us a showoff..!
F1 in India would just bring in tons of revenue to this country. Yes definitely its a entertainment . An entertainment for all of us who watch it. and a sport for those who actually do it.!! aint that true for all that we have here.
Cricket..! 22 guys play. 1 billion watch.. thats not entertainment hugh..
PS:i love cricket,but i love F1 too..

Doesn't sound good, coming from the same sports ministry which 'forgot' to e-mail Saina Nehwal's entry to the organizers of China Masters Super Series in due time.Formula One is not a sport, says ministry
...The basic premise of the ministry is that F1 is not needed in India and the money can be spent on development of disciplines which have a wider base in the country, ministry sources said....
But hey, when " Asked for a comment, BAI president VK Verma appeared surprised, and said the Indian entries had been sent and “no such thing” (rejection) had occurred. “Maybe the players didn’t want to play China Masters,” he said "
Nice logic, Mr. President. Maybe the players were feeling lazy and decided to skip one of the largest badminton events in the world, while putting their entire career on the line? Duh. What brand of heroine were you smoking?
SOURCE: Badminton babus forgot deadline so Saina can't play in China
Even the third world African countries treat sports better than this.
I'm sick of this bullshit played by the ministries. Sometimes I wish our country a democracy. Oh wait.

Our politicians are "Good for Nothing"...Originally posted by leon_nerd View PostWhat a shocker !!! Somehow in India we always rubbish down the obvious and give "other developments" as the reason. Oh yeah, putting up statues for thousands of crores of rupees does contribute to the development. The scandals, blackmoney and dunno what else does contribute to the development of the country. Bravo. Why should we promote a sport of International Status? We can spend that money on hockey and football like we have been doing always.
Right?
When will the politicians stop giving up such stupid excuses to satisfy their means (or avenge their dissatisfaction for probably not being bribed)
.
They knows only how to ride Atlas bicycles, they can't ride an f-1 car bcoz if they do so, their pit-stop will be in HELL. Atleast by riding a bicycle, their pit stop will be either at puntcure-shop or air-pumping....
MeraBHARAT Mahaan... Sau mein see 200 be-imaan.
You must be the change you wish to see in the world

. The primary reason of any sport is to build some qualities in those involved like good health and competitiveness through physical exertion. By your definition we will soon have hollywood and bollywood being labeled as sports

Amateur sports? yes. Professional? not so much.
The reason for conduction pro-sporting events in huge venues is to provide entertainment for the masses. The Olympic games in ancient Athens started out for the same reason.
If a guy wants to jump higher than everyone else simply to make sure that he's healthy, he can do so in his backyard for all we care.
On topic, I hope the ministry takes a look at the Hotel booking charts for Singapore for the month of September.
F1 beings money. Period.
