Why is this a sad news for us? Come on guys, this is part of a business strategy. Remember how GM is trying to find its way out of the red in the US? By limited the number of models it produces and limited the number of companies it has. Same goes for Yamaha.

The MT01 was never sold in the USA due to emission regulations. It was sold only in Europe, UK, Canada, Australia and India. It has been discontinued in Canada but the SP version will continue to be sold in the other territories. [EDIT] Looks like they've dropped the SP as well...so it really is the end of the road for the MT01[/EDIT]
There will be no more MT-01s sold in India. They sold about 24 bikes (one of which is parked in my garage) and I guess that will be that. I love this bike for it's sheer practicality in Indian conditions...and perhaps it will turn out to be another "RD350" or BMW "Funduro" in a decade or so
