I'm relating this, to the new Product-wise departmentalization system in Bajaj.

Kawasaki is first to be separated, as it already has Ninja 250 here... Next I think is KTM. Then, maybe the Bajaj's individual Indian brands... This is what I perceive, not confirmed though.

OT: I have just posted a news thread about new 600's. One/ Two bikes will surely be from Kawasaki. But, don't discuss that here, its in a separate thread.. Sorry for the related OT.

For all who expecting price cut on ninja ..

the bottom line is .. kawasaki will not jeopardize the brand name ninja .. by lowering the prices and replacing spares made locally .. the intial plan for ninja was to manufacture some limited components in india and assemble them which makes its cheaper .. that plan didnt work out .. its may be due to quality issues ...

but a new generation of didicated bikes may arise from this agreement from bajaj and kawasaki .. which may be little cheaper due to local manifacturing ...

the above is practicle assumptions .. who know's wt changing market scenarios can make comp to think ..

OT: Now yamaha also planing to setup india as global hub for manifacturing there superbikes ... i read recently somewhere

Will kawasaki sell the Ninja 250 at a lower price in India??

Well so far the car manufacturers in India are pocketing the money rather than passing on the benefit to the customer. We have to wait and watch whether Kawasaki really will sell the bikes at lower price point especially when there are people who are more than willing to pay higher sum!!!

If we look at other benefits of this new arrangement, we can note that:
                        1. Spare parts will be relatively easily available in India.
                        2. After sales service might get better(hoping that the Kawasaki will be training people!!)
                        3. When other manufacturers launch similar bikes, kawasaki will have an upper hand as they would have established well by then. Kawasaki can price their bikes aggressively!!
Cheap and Reliable is not Fast, Cheap and Fast is not Reliable, Fast and Reliable is not Cheap!

Read a news article yesterday involving Bajaj MD and Kawasaki MD. It was clearly mentioned that there were no plans to localize the bike or its parts to bring the cost of the ninja down.

So those who are expecting prices to drop might just end up waiting.

Those who already have or will be getting a Ninja soon, its good news considering it wont hit the resale value at least in the near future.

Edit - I think i read this article in DNA. Will check back and confirm.

The biggest positive point would be easily spares availability and if kawasaki manufactures 600 CC and other high end bikes in india, that will be an advantage as people wont need to pay high import duties and other taxes to that extent as individuals pay today and this low tax slab will boost better sales.
