Great Initiative folks. It will save many lives and prevent even many more accidents.
That is the whole idea and the fact that loads of people point out that the lights are on goes on to prove that it is immediately noticed!Originally posted by Hey Ram View PostLast edited by AnuragAshok; 05-10-2010, 01:48 PM.Life is like riding a bike. It is impossible to maintain your balance while standing still.

A very good initiative I would say. Atleast once this becomes a rule and is applied all over India, then people "Might" get educated about the Benefits of having the Head Lights on during Day light (at least the parking lamps on to say the least) and stop reminding you - "Boss tere bike ki head light jal rahi hai!!" Sometimes I really do feel to first show them my thumbs up for being so caring... and then the birdee for being such a dum and then driving big cars!!
Indian manufactueres (who are slowly shifting to DC electricals on their bikes) should really think about hardwiring atleast the parking lamp to ignition so that the parking lamp should always remain on when the bike is on.

Considering the weather conditions it has to be mandatory in those northern countries, but it won't make much sense in indian traffic except in high ways. First we indians have to atleast obey traffic signals. In bangalore, esspecially in outer ring roads in morning, I was forced by many cabs to jump the signal. I use to stare at them by pointing my fingers towards the traffic red light. Those morons go reverse to switch the lane and jumps the signals to jam with the oncoming vehicles. 5 mins waste to clear that traffic jam. Until these drivers exists in india, whatever the rule we implement wont make sense.Originally posted by sheelpriye View Postin some Scandinavian countries where the weather is usually dark and gloomy, for better visibility the car/motorcycles had their beams on in 'low beam' mode,
I stick to low beam
Infact I am very much confortable with Highway riding than city commuting.
Atleast we bikers should stop these signal jumps by blocking the cabs.
I too always switch my low beam in highways. Except few trucks, all the vehicles follow my indications and won't neglect it as just a 2-wheeler.Originally posted by roshan3440 View PostUsually on the highway I keep my headlight on ( Low beam ) ...There are advantages like the opp side drivers are alerted, village people notice you coming from a distance even though few care to stop until they are half way there
and when you are riding in groups, it helps me to locate the fellow rider from a distance and same applies for the rider in front during day ..... But I keep coming across people who would tell you that the light is on
... including the traffic police themselves
Is there any rule in current to fine the vehicles with low beam in daylight?Last edited by sakthi_nj; 05-10-2010, 03:18 PM.

Today I went for a Ajmer to Jaipur Intercity Tour, with headlights on... A Truck driver's assistant popped out and pointed out that the lights are on. (by making "twinkling stars" hand gesture).Originally posted by dineshsamtani View Post+1 i'm in for it.
I made gesture as if saying "yes, I know" and he understood it, but his face was like "ye pagal ho gaya kya?" ...

Ah- India!!!!! We have to make it a rule to save life.
Government has to make mandatory for the Helmets and Seat Belts, otherwise we just wont care.
Life!!! who the (beep) cares, I like the wind-in-my-hair and I would ride with a helmet- is what People do almost everywhere in India.
Its wonderful that the government is making it mandatory, it will for sure make one more visible. But the concern is, the pandooz, the thullaz, the sakharamz and the other Khakhi clad morons will take it as an opportunity to fine us, even if you are taking our bike out of your garage and onto the service/slip road. Cant help it- Yeh India hai meri Jaan!
Now that's a not so smart act Mate! High beam- day or night is annoying to the oncoming traffic.Originally posted by rennycornelius View PostI have a habit to ride with high beam on highways at the day time,
all cheers

P.S: I am waiting for the day when our government makes it mandatory to Eat food, Drink water, breath AIR- because if we dont it- we will die. ok, now it was full of Sarcasm!!!Its not about the BHP or the CC, its about one common religion called Biking!!!

If this rule comes into effect then I have to switch on the headlight of my bike and then............ capture another picture of my headlamp and put it on my avatar.
(Who knows I may be fined by cops for promoting unsafe riding
)
nice one! lolzOriginally posted by dcs View PostP.S: I am waiting for the day when our government makes it mandatory to Eat food, Drink water, breath AIR- because if we dont it- we will die. ok, now it was full of Sarcasm!!!Last edited by fast_ferocious; 05-11-2010, 09:36 PM.From variable Bhps to a constant 17.6 Bhp.

Good move
Good move.
I keep my lights on most of the times I ride except in really dense traffic where auto-rickshaw drivers will get really agitated if you don't switch off the headlamp. They will remind you once, if you don't listen: they yell at you to turn it off.
Do turn it on (especially on highways), there's nothing you will lose. It increases your conspicuity on open roads.
The worst mistake is to drive at night without any headlight or tail-light.

I feel your pain, bro. Those ignorant, impatient idiots at the back of the lot will be the first ones to honk, as if the traffic will move out of the way for them. Many a times, I will be waiting for the lights to turn green, and those idiots will already be halfway through the junction almost right on the path of the other vehicles. I fact, I once got rear-ended by another two-wheeler rider who expected me to run the lights as it was turning red and was tailgating me and as a result couldn't stop(Him being on a Splendor with it's archaic drum brakes, and me on a P220 with discs all round). This happened when my bike was less then a week old.Originally posted by sakthi_nj View PostIn bangalore, esspecially in outer ring roads in morning, I was forced by many cabs to jump the signal. This is the mentality of the general Indian motorist, so expecting them to follow the headlights-on-during the day aspect of road safety is too much to expect.

lol.. Many people thinks that bikers like you are trying to show off and attract attention to your "racing" bike by those although always turned on lightsOriginally posted by dreamchaser View Posthaa haaa i was once charged with a 100rs fine for riding with my headlights on the R1...i said that this is a standard feature on these bikes but who listens...now i can ride in peace i hope but still people show the blinking sign when they see me...
