Inflammable, there will be a slight difference here.

In case of mobile phones the taste and the expectation of the consumer has changed and evolved over the time. People now demand more than just the reliable "entry level" phones that Nokia used to churn out so efficiently.

People now demand more from their mobile phones.

But now take the case of our two wheeler buying customers. They still want the 100 cc engine bikes, why? Because it gives them best mileage.

Bajaj tried to innovate (XCD 125) by giving more punch (125 cc) and equal if not superior mileage, for the same price. But the customer refuses to budge (Ok, the styling of the XCD could have been better).

Result: Bajaj fits the Discover body with the chassis and a 100 cc engine derived from the XCD, and sales go through the roof..!!

With ever rising fuel prices, looks like the 100 cc engine is here to stay for a long time.
Companies will have to innovate near the 100 cc mark, at least for garnering bulk sales and staying at number 1 or number 2 spot.

Hope HH will learn.....Think CB twister will become a serious competetior
Even i use E75 (& had previously owned N-gage QD & N91) & totally love it, though its bullcrap when compared to iPhones & Androids...

Aargh you guys touched a very sensitive topic, lets not get to UI and all.
In short what Nokia didnt do is what Bajaj is doing....

While nokia happily mint money with thier product line with no major upgrades and concentration on build quality, others (read LG, Samsung, Motorola) slowly sneaked in with thier VFM products and attacked it there. By the time they could react to it, the new age phones were already killing its premium product lines.

So what goes up, shall come down analogy works here...
Bajaj is sneaking in with D100 and P135 and nibbling away the commuting class. I would still like to see a revamped Boxer to take on HH. Even Yamaha has a YB now!!!

PS: On a another-contradictory note, Nokia has done good investments in terms taking over smaller companies to bail them out of this situation. They have what HH doesn, a sound "R&D"

I hate that mentality of ridiculing what you wont buy.... If it werent for the so called 'chindi' phones/bikes you wouldnt have been fortunate enough to be blessed with a not so chindi product.

I rode with a Polish gang during my recent visit to Ladakh & they were like, "Man you guys have such small bikes in India, even our smallest bike in Poland have a minimum of 500cc mill..."

ofcourse they were drunk when they said it

Twister cant be a competition to any of Hero Honda product.. the design itself is too aggressive.. to go with the people with conservative mindset. And the bike is anytime overdesigned as per the class of products.

P.S I was with a Honda Motorcycles guy recently.. (this sunday).. he is my colleague's clsoe frend. He didnt know that I am Pro-Biker.. and I kept asking questions.. he kept answering to lot of things...

Right now as per him - Shine is at highest production rate..
Twister is very low.. 150 bikes per day..
Unicorn numbers are not very good too - 300-400 perday..
Dazzler is around 150 per day..

And some news for xbhpians to relish.. - Honda 250cc under R&D stage.. Tentative month of launch January 2011.. Expected to be full faired. Price around 1.25 - 1.4 lakhs

Fireblade CKD assembling to happen around 2012. Honda looking at introducing CBR 600.
