          • Volkswagen Polo-EUROPEAN CAR OF THE YEAR 2010

The Volkswagen Polo is the Car of the Year 2010. It won a close contest with the Toyota iQ. Just ten points, 347 to 337, separated the two leading contenders, while the Opel/Vauxhall Astra took third place, with 221 pointsThe Polo, a car which in the eyes of many jurors looks and feels like a scaled-down Golf, has been even more appreciated than its bigger stable-mate, which took third place last year. In fact, it is the first Volkswagen CotY winner in 18 years, following the win in 1992... by a Golf. All the 59 Jury members from 23 European countries gave points to the winner, and 25 of them chose it as their favourite. The iQ received points from 58 jurors, with 20 top marks. The Opel/Vauxhall Astra was voted by 55 Jury members, with five of them giving top points.
Even if the VW model is shorter than a number of competitors in the B segment, this generation of Polo is fully capable of accommodating at least four adult people in comfort. Room, performance, refinement and a reasonable cargo space endorse that affirmation. As well as practical reasons, the small VW appeals for its fine exterior design and the impeccable execution of the cabin, which has a level of perceived quality unprecedented in this category.
Energy efficiency is also an important point for potential customers, with the current trend for downsizing. The Polo offers an interesting line of engines, and also the pleasant-to-use DSG automatic/sequential transmission, with two clutches. The new 1.6 litre TDi diesel engine perfectly suits the size of the car, while among the petrol engines is a lively 1.2 litre TSI with turbo which also balances performance and fuel economy. The Polo is offered in two kinds of Blue Motion derivatives, both with diesel engines. The 1.2 litre three-cylinder engine with 75 HP is homologated for an average fuel consumption of 3.3 litre/100 km, equivalent to an emission of 87 g/km of CO2.

            • ^^Unproffesionlism + Rossi + Saif + Lights Off!! = Height of utter wasted expo!

Thankyou very much to each and every guy out there who visited the Auto Expo 2010 and shared his log/experience with me!

What is the use of paying huge bucks and spending even huge time to look at the same pulsars/zmr/R15 etc in new sticker or under new coloured lights? So Lucky me! Because of you guy's I had saved few bucks, huge time and heavy headache due to the Best Wasted Expo in these few year's.
And I feel sorry for you guys because of your ''pissed'' expression's!
Really except chick's there was nothing else to really give an eye nor they had anything to show.
So one in all I am pretty relived that Auto(wasted) Expo is nearing its end by each passing day and am even more relived due to the fact that I am sitting at home popping some popcorns and watching companies showcasing nearly nothing to us!

for us, no. of person at a place doesn't matter.. but the way they pushes everyone including children, gals, ladies, aged people and all & sundry makes us feel bad abt being a part of this madness.
AND, we were NOT part of that pathetic crowd...
like some other foolish people, we waited for our chance to get a glimpse of cars-n-bikes on display... but all in vain!

                location of expo is fine??!
just ask anybody who has to cross this stretch during regular fairs round the year!
just ask traffic guys who has to manage maddening tarffic, and the issues with parking!
just ask the ITPO guys who always feel the dearth of infrastructure to cater to lakhs of people on a single day!

i have visited ALL auto-expos (post 1993) happened in Pragati Maidan, Delhi... and have witnessed the growth and problems associated with it over the years. period.

it seems to be made for street and/or touring purpose
matching its emission norms with india won't be a problem for honda
It is a race track version. And race versions are not so different from streetbikes. Just mirrors & indicators are removed. Honda imported these I think in 2008-end or beginning 2009, for their One Make Race (expert class). Back then they had made it clear it was just for the races, not for a launch....

As for emission norms, it does clear our emission norms. Just Honda should use their head, and really take advantage of our FTA with Thailand. Import directly from there! No need of assembling headaches. Damn how long will it take for them to launch something close to a sportsbike (CBUs excluded).
                  You get the point?? :D

                    Dream on!

Although TVS had something to show atleast! The other stalls have just been 'much popcorn & move on'...!

The ABS looks intriguing. The Notches on the disc definitely seem to be for measuring disc rotor speed (instead of wheel speed, so the ABS should be more responsive), but thing is what does it use? Is it mechanical or is it a scaled down electronic ABS system? I think its the latter. TVS had mentioned this technology would be costly (about 7-8k extra) around the time the RTR180 was being rumoured...

                        Make that (wasted)Auto Expo.

I had somehow had the gut feeling Rossi's visit wouldn't go nice. When I told my friend (non-xbhp) he asked me how will they control the crowd. Back then I'd thought it would be impossible to control a mad crowd from wanting to touch/take pictures/take autographs from their favourite sportstar, becuase using teargas/water jets as crowd control wasn't a viable option here...

But my judgement went wrong. There was a mad crowd indeed, but not to see Rossi, to see a virtual/invisible John Abraham...

What a waste! Just recap, 2 years back Yamaha's stall was the biggest BANG at the expo, and now.... Sheesh....
                        You get the point?? :D

Well no one created the hype but Yes! We all did fuel the fire, we carried the rumors and we speculated non-existant thing..
And I am included in ''we!''

Though this all happened because the companies, showrooms, news, emails etc Ignited the rumors.
For example a news statment from yamaha officials clearly stated that they are looking forward on newer cc markets plus solidifying the one they are in including 250cc market too, and with this news the ''Fazer 250cc'' speculation thread had been popped up!
But at the end of day, the (wasted) Auto Expo was a waste this year because I over expected from the companies!

Though as said by Ranjith lets stick back to ''The (wasted) Yamaha Stand.''
