I can relate to the same as i ride a RC390. Its like a bigger more aggresive brother.
But from my perspective as the kind of bike i want- it should be light, adequately powerful, smooth (as in vibration free) and should have good handling i thought the ST makes the cut after all the mods done. The MT 09 would have been on the top if it would have priced at least about 1.25 lacs cheaper than what it is priced at.
Wat about the fz07? Clueless Yamaha.. They could have released the fz07 as competition in the middle bike segment, with the likes of er6n, tnt600i. Same with Honda why can't they release a more affordable cb650f, I'm sure it would be a lakh cheaper than the CBR version.

        Well, first and foremost
        a) Yamaha does not "have to consider" anything, just because someone with a keyboard is on a forum claiming that they have to do xyz
        b) They are not clueless, because the Z800 is a CBU, so is the MT09. The MT07 being less than 800 cc would be required to be built here. Separate production lines, more employees, much more expenditure, advertising, brand building, you know the rut.
        c) Are there enough volumes to even justify their entry? The market is already saturated. Versys, Ninja, CBR 650, Benelli 600, CF Moto, Ducati monster and scrambler, The hyosung range, Bonneville. If you start factoring in the harleys, which account for about half of the market anyway, you are looking at a very saturated market.

PS: India gets bikes from EU/Japan(except harleys) and not USA, so if we do get anything, it will be the MT07 and not FZ07

Damn government and their restrictions... The mt07 would be a fantastic middle segment bike, I think it has the quality to blew away the competition in this segment. Hondas pricing of the CBR was a bit over the mark, why no cb 650f is my question? Harleys I'll put in the cruiser segment and they are priced very very high obviously.

Sure as hell it would be.

            India loves faired motorcycles. Sadly.

            Very high? Not really, IMO.
            Street 750 = 4.69 ex-showroom
            Iron 883 = 7.67 ex-showroom
            1200 cc Custom and 1200cc Harley 48 = 9.10 and 9.30 respectively
            1600cc Street Bob = 10.64

Was never a big fan of cruisers of Harley, the only cruiser that interests me is the ducati diavel. Love faired motorcycles? It would be nice if they offered the option of the naked, the duke ,gixxer, hornet have changed the game in the starter naked segment.

Me neither, but I've started to warm up to them.

The same goes for cages too.

http://www.cycleworld.com/2017-yamah...iew-first-look would be fantastic if Yamaha can launch this bike by next year or soo... I see it as a better alternative to the ninja 650.

I wonder if the whole MT-09 plan is scrapped. . . No delivery photos or news on google :/
Being on two wheels is being liberated. The vastness one feels being under the open sky. The whole feeling. . . cant be described.

The mt-09 is mentioned in the Yamaha motorcycles website along with the r1, not sure about the availability. What baffles me is why doesnt Yamaha have a midrange motorcycle like the other competitors do?
                          Honda - CBR 650f
                          Kawasaki - er6n/ninja650/versys 650,z800
                          Triumph - street triple, street twin,tiger 800
                          Benelli - 600i/gt,899
                          Hyosung - GT 650

Where is the mt-07? It would be ideal to release the mt-07 Tracer here in India, atleast in a year and a half types.

I think yamaha is aware of the fact that our market is more fond of the Inline-4 harmony right now lol Closest they could get is the inline triple MT-09.

thus MT-07 will not do as much good against the effort they would have to put to bring it here. In my opinion atleast.

What about Kawasaki n hyosung with their twins? I mean comon, pricing wise the mt07 naked/tracer is ideal for the mid range motorcycle market, if priced between 6-7lakhs... But I spose Yamaha are not interested, which baffles me...

Well if you trace back to 2005 / 07 the only 2 companies which could've driven change in the biking scenario were Honda & Yamaha. Infact even going back 4-6yrs back they still had the resources to really be the juggernauts in light-mid weight, but unfortunately they see more value in commuter & power commuter segment.

Yamaha atleast has shown some nerve in getting the R3 a bit late but still. Honda I'm not sure when.
