It is most definitely smoother than any Honda I have ever ridden. AND I have ridden almost everything between the 125cc to 250cc range.

I did a Test ride on one of the Pre-Production test mules back in April. This is what I had to say back then. Kindly understand that at the time of writing, I was not a Moderator. First impressions:
        1. Power Delivery is like the Ninja 250R uptill almost 9k. Thats when the Ninja goes absolutely mad(going all the way to its 14k redline) and the NS doesn't
        2. Torque build-up is extremely linear and it flattens out around 8.5-9k ish when the acceleration is addictive all the way till 11k. I actually liked the carburretion more than Duke's FI. The Carb has smooth response to low throttle input at low revs. Duke/P220 Fi is jerky by comparison. Smooth response is good for rides in chock-a-block city traffic.
        3. I couldn't hit rev limiter though I did breach 11k RPM on the way. This is higher than Duke Rev Limiter (10.5k). And Believe me I was trying to but I always subconsciously upshifted as soon as I felt the torque dropping at the top of the rev range.
        4. Suspension was front soft enough that it was more comfortable than my P220 Carb. Irregularities on the road which filter in on my P220 did not on the NS. Still the bike felt more planted in the corners due to excellent feedback from the chassis and possibly fatter tires.
        5. The motor is absolutely smooth. Almost Honda Unicorn smooth if not more. The only time you can actually get very minor vibes is when using engine braking. There are absolutely zero vibes with the throttle open. The bike had been abused to the core and has been taken to unimaginably bad road places. I mean the tester guy uses this as his off-roader and goes on off-roading escapades with his buddy who has an Impulse . Still there were no buzzing panels / noises from anywhere after 10k on the odo.
        6. Revs up fast, like a typical short stroke motor. Not much torque low down, again like a typical short stroke motor (== Same as Ninja 250R), but you won't mind it much if you are riding spiritedly given the buttery buttery gearbox. (Double Buttery was intentional )
        7. Engine note is very feeble, especially at higher revs. Doesn't sound ferocious (in a grunty bassy way) like my bike. Even R15 sounds gruntier in comparison.
        8. Brakes have good feedback and they do their job well.
        9. Tires on the test bike were TVS Eurogrip. They seemed a bit inadequate for this bike. Easily squealed under braking and aggressive downshifts. But, If this is the case with the production bikes as well, we always have the option of R15 V2 / CBR150R / Ninja250R rear tire AND FZ16 / R15 V2 / CBR150R Front tires. Choose as per preference/budget .
        10. The switchgear will most probably have some changes. I couldn't get any feedback from the indicator switch. And there was also no auto-cutoff like my bike.
        11. Last but not the least, a special mention for the excellent chassis which you can actually feel as it gives you feedback when taking a corner. I barely took 3-4 corners properly in those 10km but the difference in feedback was more than apparent. R15 v1 chassis doesn't feel as communicative.

Finally, the bike is extremely friendly to a 1st time rider and doesn't feel like a Bajaj bike even 1 bit. The short stroke revolution has finally hit bikes after affecting low-end torque in cars adversely. New gen 'All New' bikes will soon be short stroke with peaky power delivery eg. Pulsar NS, Duke, CBR150R. So if you have a torque monster of any kind, please hold onto it. I guess very soon I will be starting a "What happened to low end torque in modern bikes" thread on xBHP similar to the thread on Team-BHP on cars and emission norms will effectively kill the torque monsters as we knew it. The test ride barely lasted all of 10 minutes, whereas it took me 25 minutes to write all this.. Funny
The bike I tested was a pre-production test mule. A LOT would have changed by now. The only reason I wrote it down back then was so that I don't forget *exactly* what it felt like when I rode it (Exact same reason why we write trip logs). @P220 / Duke / Ninja / R15 / Unicorn / Future P200NS owners, I am not trying to make any enemies so try not to get offended.

Excellent price . @mg - superb pictures and yes it is the black that makes pulsars Hot .

@ antz.bin - a clean and clear test ride report . thanks to you please start that thread soon . . And it would be well appreciated . I would rather prefer a maintainence high bike which has a great grunt and torque ( not a cruiser ) than a smooth maintainence free bike ( totally my thought no offence to anyone ) .

I remember having a short test ride of this bike. It was definitely a good experience!

When i rode the P220 for the first time, i knew it was different from earlier Pulsars. I went for it rightaway.

Same feeling was experienced when riding this P200NS. A step ahead of the earlier Pulsars. It just goes wherever you think. You think and it changes directions. I did some risky manouvers on this that i don't do on my heavy P220. And it was thrilling. After riding this my P220 feels old generation instantly.

I would like to request all the prospective buyers to ride safe. With this bike you are tempted more than the other Pulsars to try overtaking antics. Blame it on the bike. The Hooligan is reborn!

              Ride Safe!

Saw this on the Pulsar 200 NS website yesterday

The news of the bike being available now at the showroom is pretty exciting, but at the same time I'm getting worried about different dealers asking elevated price tags makes me worried.

Bajaj should ensure that such practices are checked and the end user get a fair deal out of their hard earned money.

Damn. Being a duke owner I am definitely jealous of all the prospective owners .
The probiking won't be selling the 200NS for sure. I had confirmed it at the Vashi KTM. The reason being it's a KTM showroom meant exclusively for KTM bikes. I do see the Kawasaki's too being disallowed sometime in the future after the advent of the 690 Duke and 350s.

But really, hats off to Bajaj. They are the beacon for the Indian 2 wheeler industry. The 200NS sure is a steal at that price point.

Now a note of caution : The 200NS sure has been priased in all quarters Like the Duke once was. So let's wait till people buy it and share there experiences. The bike might not be without issues(as is the case with any new bike including Duke)
BTW at this price and with the kind of performance it's promising, I'd take the bike regardless
PS : I see a lot of teenage school/college kids riding criss-cross/changing lanes riding the 200NS on Mumbai streets in a month's time zipping past like John Bhai did in 'Dhoom'. They do it on pulsar 150s and 220s. Imagine the confidence which the 200NS will give these 'dudes'.God please save me the agony and my head too

                            Payeng Bhai,

Still inclined towards the duke or the pulsar seems a more attractive proposition?

The VFM proposition of the Pulsar is very tempting. On the other hand the exclusivity and mind blowing throttle response of the 200 Duke is just too good.
