    Bike Details: 2008 Honda CBR600RR
    Color: White/black/blue Konica minolta edition
Registration number: MH 06 AT 2803
    Location: Hyderabad

I am posting this thread on behalf of my friend (Harish) in Hyderabad. His 2008 december model, Honda CBR600RR was stolen last week. According to my friend, this is one of the two bikes in the hyderabad area.

Two guyz posed as prospective buyers and finalized the sale for 6.1 lakhs. They gave a demand draft (DD) for 1.1 Lakhs as advance and managed to sign a small transfer of ownership on a stamp paper stating that the remaining amount of 5 lakhs will be given in exchange for the bike.

A week later, they gave my friend two cheques for 2.5 lakhs each. After receiving the cheques, my friend handed over the bikes to the buyer. The buyer's name was Owais Saair Hussein (who also gave photocopies of his driver's license).

To my friend's surprise, the cheques had been given a stop payment and that is when my friend realized this was a planned scam. I understand that it was my friends fault to begin with, as he should not have given bike until the cheques got encashed in his account. However, when he tried to call them back, they said they would get back to him and never called him back again.

My friend has registered an FIR with the police. If anyone spots this bike please inform me or my friend Harish directly at 9866331068.

I have attached a pic of the motorcycle, and the guy sitting on the bike is the ACTUAL thief (Owais Saair Hussein) who stole the bike. If you guys or any of your friends happen to come across this bike, please inform your local police station.

Please help out guys. My friend is devestated as such, losing his precious machine.

Hey i have seen this bike abt 3 weeks bck @narayanaguda
i hope it was with owner at time. as i didnt see that person in photo, the person who was ridin it was fair skined, slim and may be in his early 18 to 20 age group more like a teen
and the back tire was totally worn out and easily i could see the lnner layer of the back tire. i thought of stopping the person and wanted to ask why would he be riding the bike with totally worn out tire which could pose a safety threat. as person was ridin it fast
    Now Riding

it happened a week ago ...so guess you saw the owner..however i would keep a look out whenever am out...but i am guessing that bugger wont be taking the bike out for a while as its obvious that everyone will be on a look out now.i swear i couldnt imagine a more dumber person who not only allowed himself to take a pic and expose account details but also ride helmet less on an SBK when everyone is on a lookout for him and the bike.
nevertheless,i will inform my other friends and will keep an open eye here.kept it as a header in facebook and orkut communities

              2) Did you try to contact them over the phone?
              3) Did you go to the address listed in the person's licence?
              4) What was the timeline, from the day that the price was finalised and today?

All said and done, pretty messed up.
              1. I verified with my friend. They didn't put a stop payment on it. The bank got back to my friend stating that there are insufficient funds to honor cheque.

              2. He tried to contact them over phone, but they are not picking up anymore.

              3. Yes, my friend did verify the address on the licence....it is an address based at BTM layout in bangalore. These guys did mention my friend that they are from bangalore. But at address, no one is there. I am guessing that they were in that address before (a rented place) and not there anymore.

              4. The first time they met my friend was on August 5th. They took the bike on August 13th. On august 14, the bank (ICICI) contacted my friend saying that there are insufficient funds

thanks satan69in, but the thing is, they don't live anymore in the address provided in their driver's licence. Moreover, I am certain that their bank account address is also not valid anymore. Although a bank verifies your address at the inception of your account, you can always move out later right?

Since you've the pic, I'm certain your friend will get back the motorcycle.

I believe the cheque was a real one aargee. But am certain that they won't be using that account anymore...thanks for the concern man!

Yes Justyhere, but the thing is, the cheque was real, but they bounced due to insufficient funds.

I don't think they are the type who would go abroad jigar2speed. They are just small time crooks who want easy money.....between passionate bikers and DRI hassels, there are some rogues in the middle who want to make money off that. You were right when you said that they are either genius or stupid. Stupid for being caught on cam. I am sure this very moment he is reading this post. It is certain that he will only try to sell it. The objective of this post is that no one should buy this bike. SBK's being a small group, its really not hard to trace it....

It was an ICICI bank cheque satyenpoojary. The bank contacted my friend immediately as it was a big amount. It is being sorted out with the police now....my friend is following it up now...I am very certain the bike is still in hyderabad.

Hey balkumar, the bike you saw was the other konica minolta edition cbr600rr in hyderabad. Theare are only two konica minolta editions in the twin cities.....my friend pretty much knows most of the superbikers here. The 20 something guy, lean structure, fair, and mostly without a helmet...I've seen that bike in the jubilee hills area often. And good observation on the tyres...he rides fast with worn out tyres....

Good point satan69in....the bike is hiding out now, and I am certain this thief wants to resell it...I think he is a novice crook....thank you very much for helping out, I hope that just by a stroke of luck, that someone will look at it and let you know....thanks a ton yaar!

Good point whiteunicorn1011. The only way they can resell the big now is to re paint it....but that's no easy task....it will be hard to replicate another cbr600rr paint scheme exactly....we know a modified bike when we see one...and as is the case with a paint alteration...besides, the rc will have a different color indicated....and true passionate bikers know the paint jobs of differen year of the bike....so this thief trying to resell it won't be an easy task to begin with, unless, some really unknown person, as innocent as my friend gets struck. But my friend is using his police influence, so lets hope for the best.

Well guys i never-ever thought that such cheap thing can happen. Such facts are common in the case of pulsar, rx-100 etc, they modify it, repaint it, etc but damn this time its RR and its konica minolta, i think it will be very easy to catch that guy.

Exactly MAN-UTD, what in the world was that thief thinking. It really takes a lot of plannin for the scam guyz as they think a lot, and such criminals are very clever chaps, as much as I hate to admit them. This thief got his pic taken and still manage to steal bike. What I am worried about is the we din't think of other options these thieves have. For example, what they can do is to either re-sell it, or sell it as spares. Or is there anything else they intend to do. They definitely won't try to take it abroad, cause the prices of such bikes are cheaper abroad than in india. But what else? Any thoughts anyone?

I don't if the television idea will work Rockrz. Its the first time, I even heard of such a thing. Rest assured, thank you. I will pass on this idea to my friend.

DRI and customs are the least of worries for my friend now n_aditya. He is just very upset over losing his baby. We all dream of getting an SBK, and in his case, he was planning on another bike and all this crap happens!

I thought of this Rajesh Mudaliar. But they won't really get a lot of money selling it as spares. They already paid an advance of 1.1 lakhs. If they were to sell it as spares, there will be very few takers on the plastics as this one is a special edition konica minolta. I doubt they will take extra pains to repaint the fairings, and still, it won't be a nice paint job and people wont buy it. Unlike a regular 100 to 200 cc engine (that are commonly stolen and used on motor boats for fishing, etc) there won't be many takers to buy a 600 cc motor. I bet that the thieves only option is to re-sell the bike, to some unwary, innocent soul. But most bikers going for SBK know the bikes and are active on forums such as xbhp, and other common classifieds. Words speard like fire. It will be a miracle if we could find this bike back. My fingers crossed.

                            Okay.
                            Any new updates?

Was the bike transferred to the name of the thief?
Patience is something you admire in the driver behind you and scorn in the one ahead.

The reason why i said television was that:-
                                1) sbks are rare and a hot time news anytime on t.v.
                                2) a stollen sbk attracts even more attention on the news that is seen my mostly aunties (who wanted their uncles own it sometime) and so intresting and a hot topic. also, it attracts the most attention compared to any other media.
                                3) it will definately put a lot of pressure on the cops for some action..
                                4) you could alert a whole town of such a bike with your rewards scheme.

the greed of reward will definately help in getting back your bike and plus you have the picture of the a$$hole so it will definately give you a lot of leads for catching the thief.

plus who knows, the guy might call you up asking you to takeback the case and payup the ammount!!!!! (thats a very rare case to happen but still)

edit: if this thing had happend with my bike i would have personally got on the tele for my bike which is actually a punny 150 the point is try everything thats gonna get back the bike
