  • Is now the time to buy?

Hey guys, I've been thinking of picking up a 2011 Fireblade. Just spoke to Honda and they're quoting Rs.15.35 lakh OTR Mumbai registration with delivery in 10-15 days. Apparently they just raised the prices.

But based on conversations with a few friends, is it the right time to be buying an sbk? With all the new announcements concerning taxes and CKDs etc, it all seems a bit vague. And I don't want to buy a bike and then suddenly find 2 months later it's cheaper by a few lakhs that I could have saved if I had just waited a bit.

I'm not even sure what the whole deal is and when it will be implemented, so I would appreciate some clarity on the issue.

    Thanks.

I suggest wait for a while....new entries are made in country which might reduce the price bracket......With the competition rising yes we can face some reduction in prices......so wait...but if you have sleepless nights regarding SBK's then this is the right time.......

        yikes. that's quite an increase.

did they give you a reason for the "spike" in the price?

          thats a steep hike....

all the tax and everything are concerned with the CKD operations and not with the CBUs in picture so I dont think there will be any decrease in the price untill next year post budget or Honda announces CKD operation of the blades as well.....

the honda website still shows the OTR Mumbai of Blade @14.69 lakhs....

have you confirmed this with the dealer?? I would suggest you to drop in a query at the HQ about the price anomalies.....

No anomalies therein...The new price is of the 2011 model. The website however shows the old price(i.e. the price of2010 model)

Rs.15.35 lakh is the quote I got from Honda Wing World, Mumbai, for a black 2011 CBR1000RR with Mumbai reg, which they said they can deliver in 10-15 days. A friend of mine convinced me to wait out the CKD announcements and in the meantime the damn prices jumped instead of dropping. Now I'm wondering whether I should just buy now or is it worth it to hang on for a couple of months and see how the market develops with regard to the pricing on SBKs. Was hoping someone here could offer some insights...

In my opinion you should go in for a Ducati 848evo........it costs almost 2lacs cheaper. It looks sexy and is fast enough to keep up with most litre class bikes.

                        My 2 cents

I would ask you to wait not for price factor but for the 2012 Fireblade model. They should launch the model around October this year. I expect a big change in the fireblade machine, gadgetry and other features just to have their nose ahead of the Ninja 10R and the BMW S1000RR. I have also heard "rumours" that 2012 model will be a V-engine.
(OT: I just saw the RSV4 on Sunday and boy what a machine it is!!!)

Also being in Mumbai you might want to see the monsoon off!!!
                        To each his own karma!

That's another thing I've had on my mind. The Blade's been unchanged for 3 yrs now. I feel 2012 will at least have Traction Control if nothing else. Also I would prefer to own a generation that's at the beginning of its life cycle and not the end. But damn, the wait is killing!

I would wait till the winter months. The Fireblade hasn't changed since 2008 so I don't think there is any harm in picking up a good second-hand one for a decent price either.
Who needs more than 70 bhp when you don't need to slow down for the corners?

No, the new price is for the 2011 Model. One can get the black one (dunno the nomenclature they use use for black) and the orange/silver collection. I am finalizing to buy the latter one. Went to Honda Wing World, Delhi and hence the info
