Actually not that far, 2.5 hours from Chicago. BUT I don't want to ride on the flats of Illinois, so now way I am riding down there

Living in Milwakee, you should have bought a Harley man.
Ha, not my style nor are they as reliable as the japanese bikes (although reliability has considerably improved since the mid-90s).

Ya man. This is like the worst place to own a sport bike. All the roads are straight like a scale as far as you can see. Coming from Pennsylvania, this place is total opposite of what a sport biker would like. Waiting to return back to PA...

      Just kidding about the Harley.

          1. Riding is ok here, I can't lane share so that is a bummer. Also weather sucks only for 4 months: november end through february end. I prep my bike for storage by end of november, out by March 1st week.

Actually it is good that I have a downtime for winter. It allows me to learn more about the motorcycle. What actually bothers me about Wisconsin is the lack of any real terrain change (hills here don't count) and twisties (compared to the west coast). Oh well, at least Wisconsin is CHEAP!

          2. Also, on a total aside, I don't know if you have seen this classic ad:

          Enjoy.

Congrats on the CBR. Both you and Bartman should put your bikes on trailers and head out here to AZ for a vacation. Will show both of you some incredible routes to carve. Although i guess you can find plenty twisties closer to your places, but cant blame a brother for tryin

Ha, thanks for the offer Carlitos. I will definitely take you up on it IF I visit Arizona while riding the bike.

I have taken both the Ninja 250 and the CBR across country. I would do it again in a heartbeat but I have some other commitments right now. Like I said in my other posts, I used to live in California, so yes carving up twisties is a load of fun.

Actually what bothers me about most of the midwest (that I have seen) is that there are twisties (believe it or not) BUT there is practically no elevation change. So in many respects, the twisties here are easier to carve than say Mulholland highway in southern california.

HOWEVER because they plow the snow during winter in wisconsin/illinois, the roads get torn up. I rode down to Chicago a couple of days ago (I pretty much always take back roads). The road was HORRIBLE. I got so p%%ss$$d that I rode I94 all the way back .

In conclusion, I am **trying** to go cross country on the ZX in the middle of summer. I will post if that ever happens.

                Ride safe, later.

Oh yeah man, totally forgot u were up in Cal for a while.
                  Cross country sounds wicked fun.
BTW, have u ever hit Mullholand? i so wanna go there sometime.
Hopefully i can get more experience on the R1 by next year and then start hitting the holy grail rides.

We should really get a new thread for this BUT to answer your question: yes I have hit Mullholand drive. It is not very technical but loads of fun. Just search "R1 Mullholand" on youtube, you should get some nice videos.

                      Hey cbr600,
could you list out the mods on your CBR?
I can see that its heavily modded.
I see aftermarket levers and possibly rear sets as well. Or are they powder coated black?

I bought the bike with most of the mods 2 months back.

                          Jardine Slip-on Exhaust
                          6000K 55W DDM HID
                          K&N Air filter
                          Fender Eliminator Kit
                          Integrated Tail Light
                          Front Flush Mounts
                          Frame Sliders
                          Powder Coated Controls

                          I installed the HIDs.

The levers and rear sets are OEM i guess. They are just powder coated black.

                            Nice mods.
                            Upload a sound clip sometime.
Have heard the Yoshi pipes on CBRs but not the Jardines.

                                Stolen CBR

                                Hello guys,

First of all yesterday was my birthday. And the surprise is my CBR got stolen yesterday. Of all the 3 months I had it it is stolen exactly on my birthday.

It was there the previous night before I slept. Next day I walked out of my door (with full enthu being my birthday) and its not there. I reported to the police. Apparently, 2-3 bikes were stolen from my area (Champaign, IL) that night. This sucks man.

The good part is I have full insurance on it. Hopefully, I'll get some money and I'll buy a newer bike but only next year.
