Great to know you are recovering

I remember you talking about getting disturbed about the number of crashes you were seeing on sunday rides.

It was a bit of a shock to read about your crash because I had kind of assumed that you were super cautious and therefore the news was both sad as well was a reminder to me that things can go wrong even if one is conservative and cautious.

At the same time, it is a great relief that you are okay and are getting better. I wish you a quick recovery and hope that you put this behind you and get ready for the next ride

While I dont have a 150bhp rocket, my bike at 65-70 odd bhp also at times illustrates why those riding big bikes need to be very mindful of their safety. I think the biggest difference is that in a low powered bike, it takes a bit of time to go from "Am I riding a bit fast" to "Oh fck" and thus you have some leeway to make amends. On a big bike you can actually be at "Oh fck" even before you realise that you might be going a bit fast.

Here's a pic of the previously showroom condition bike post accident. A lesson to never be thrown off your game...

OMG !! Glad you are safe Bro. Were you riding for long and fatigue kicked in. Cause I know riding a superbike in India is very tiring ... infact riding any bike in india is very tiring due to the climate and lack of road sense of other people. Thats why we all should make it a point to take frequent brakes when we are going on long trips. By frequent i mean almost twice as frequent then when travelling in car !,,.Ride safe guys...
Biking is about you and the bike and the highway and the freedom you get when all three work together. Its not about Bullying others on the road and behaving like its your Dads property.. So drive safe and be nice to your fellow bikers no matter what their ride is.

Still can't believe it happened to me but I guess all it takes is a momentary lapse and things can go all over the place. Just a reminder to all super bike riders to ride well within your limits on our crazy roads.
Good luck with your recovery boomshiva... Hope you get better soon... The pic of the bike looks very scary... Glad you're ok...

As we can see here even the more experienced superbikers end up in accidents so certainly a beginner poses even more risk to self and others.

So don't you all think there is a need for special license for riding super bikes on Indian roads?

Also the bike manufacturers need to impart super bike riding techniques to their customers and issue the special licenses.

Although superbike accidents are few and far between, still dangers are evident.
I prefer riding a slow bike fast rather than a fast bike slow !!

Having a special licence is one of the first steps in dealing with superbike safety. Any 18 year old with daddy's cash can walk in and ride out on a near 200 hp death machine. And in the process give a bad name to the rest of the community by his riding. Making a special licence compulsory , adequate formal training and grading the bikes interms of cc will help improve the situation. Hell its india , so forget what i wrote , go to a dealer near you and get yourself a pocket rocket and ride it like you ride a 100 cc commuter. Off late i am meeting such idiotics riding superbikes that i have stopped going for group rides altogether.

+1 to that. I think we need an initiative towards special licences for anything over 500cc (Bulleteers need not suffer then).

My friend, our present licensing procedures are cumbersome but absolutely bogus in terms of standard. There is a need for whole transformation for all classes of vehicles.

As much as i agree its a nice initiative, but the fact remains that, even for getting the normal liscence, some people just pay cash and bribe the officers and get away, now think if a new type of liscence is introduced then woudnt it just repeat the same practise. And as Big Ron said that kids with rich daddy's buy them bikes, how tough would it be for them to "buy" a liscence ?Sadely that is the present state of the officers who are posted to avoid such uneducated, reckless people off the road. The way they see it its just a way to get more money, and specially being bigger bikes, they might just end up asking for more bribes.

But its a far fetched dream. The hopes of changing a corrupt system here is very very tough, as we the people itself have grown adapted to this flawed system and its almost like second nature to them. So the hopes are bleak.

But if anything such like that comes around.Ill surely be there to support it all along.

you have said the right thing bro.Different licenses means more bribe,I think first there should be a zero tolerance policy towards bribe & corruption & awareness among people only then we can think of introducing this special licensing system.

change the system change the system... what a cliche. can anyone come up with the idea on how??
our system is corrupt. the officials and procedures bribe oriented . everywhere not just at RTOs. do you think our top administrators dont know this?? they do. but their intrest lies in keep things the way they are- bribe oriented.
how s the system bribe oriented??- by giving the inspectors the authority. while you can challenge most govt atrocities in court of law, such inspector oriented stuffs are largely individual officer centric and challenge free.
                              heres my suggestion to overhaul:
                              make licencing procedure inspector free.
first you fill form , pay fees and get a reference number much like your roll number in exams.
using this number you should appear in online tests from privately owned govt authorised but tamper proof kiosks for theory exam. (this happens nowadays in most rtos but only at RTO offices terminals. if we free the bird off cage touts will largely be out of business like they did in railway reservations courtesy irctc.)
stage 2, driving simulators testing your driving skills with no human to assess you. computer will do it. they can. we have necesary softwares. and they wont be too expensive. and such places should be privately owned kiosks authorised by govt.
the pitfall of this system remains proxy - someone appearing the exams on behalf of someone else. well a webcam based system could be used that records the whole test procedure which is of less then 10 minutes usually. this should be added to the online pool data.
if an individual uses proxy candidature and gets a licence, his test data along with video will be open for future reference forever. hence any such cheating will be a liability of the licencee who may have to face music if he ever gets caught.
by the way i am largely against introducing seperate licence for sbks. most govt systems have been largely reformed/entransparented nowadays. licencing isnt because- well nobody cares. licenced rightfully or wrongly or unlicenced- drivers/riders here tend to bend the rules of the road. why not take bribe and let them do as they please. if they jump the signal , cops can challan him. why not fill our pockets.

Not at all safe in India.. once you have the power and the throttle in yourr hand you will use it no matter how much patience you have... still riding between 60-80 is safe but people riding at 120-130 on Indian roads are playing with fire that will engulf them for sure....
