Clean the filter there Ken. 'Fumes'. You're loosing on mileage, spoiling the environment and unnecessarily jeopardizing the Yam's reputation against a seemingly 'clean' Honda

The 'Blade DOES look good. Or does familiarity breed contempt (just too many "One's" around aye!!)
Anti-incumbency is not just limited to politics I guess.

04-08 : 4 years down the line and all the R1s look the same, something like 27,000kms that you did on your three R1s all added up!

And if we go by the numbers then 1098, MV Agusta are craps in front of the mighty R1s...

In a Blade thread why are we "All" veering towards the "mighty" R1?

Not discounting the R1 is good, but the Blade is just better:
            • Scope of All : "India" ; the good looks syndrome, r1 has better resale value again because of looks, connection with John A. The Fireblade has never been subjected to any kind of mass publicity in India as yet.
            • Scope of All: is me and the Indian trip: Non availaibility of any other superbikes officially, 1098 is too expensive but would of course have been my choice,
            • Scope of All: You and the people you interact with: Please ask any lovey dovey newsly fallen in love couple - they will tell you who is the world for them.

Also to personally clear your doubts I will still beat you 11 times out of 10 in a drag on any secured 400 metres you can find, or my R1 is yours. Remember 2006? Even on a 2006 Blade and your 08 R1.

Also, please note I am not including sensible people like you, me and others who are actual riders in any of my above posts except when referenced directly.

That link is Old Hat! I thought we were talking about 2009.

Ofcourse you will beat me 11 times out of 10 on any secured 400 metres, maybe even 400 times out of 15. At least on paper.

First find me a "Secure" 400 metres, then we will talk. On any bike! Your choice.

About being infatuated... ofcourse I am infatuated... with motorcycling... be it any bike.

^ You have me convinced. R1 is the best. Hail you and the beast!

                  Remember 2006?

^ Nice tug of war between u guys!

Lets have it then, blade vs r1..

The 09 R1 is also better and no less than the Honda. If one were to select a bike out of the 2, the R1 wouldnt make a bad choice, considering how little there is when u choose a liter class(except the money ofc).

a combined abs pic is missing. lemme fill it up. (taken on a cbr600rr)

Sunny: any idea whether Honda will be launching the 600RR here or not??

Good that this thread got posted. From what I've read, the Blade is an awesome piece of engineering.

It isn't for me to comment on any of these bikes, yet any litre bike shootout you pick up has the Blade at the top and the Yam at the bottom, with the Gixxer and Kwacker somewhere in between. So, whatever little difference is there, is pretty much palpable and tangible. And '09 remains to be seen.

The biggest problem is the lifecycles of both the models are off sync by an year so it the Blade will always be one year behind the R1. No manufacturer revamps the models within the lifecycle significantly. Every manufacturer has most of the 'plug-in' technologies figured out which they will be adding every year in the 4 year lifecycle to keep refreshing them, besides the color schemes of course.

In the end my main bone of contention is that the Blade has almost been mocked upon as if it is nothing. I never mock the R1, in fact i will be a fool to take any litre bike lightly and label it as better. Unfortunately, we have to change our levels to match others in context.

Whatever liter bike you ride, respect like its got hold of your balls in tweezers! And respect the ones you dont ride like they already have them!

Those people who tell you not to take chances
They are all missing on what life is about
You only live once so take hold of the chance

I hope Honda bring the 09 version in India. March 09 perhaps.
