even the HD guys wud be chewing off their nails seeing HD going places where its not supposed to go :P

as for the tusker, all u were required to do if fire-up the Hd & twist the wrist a bit... the 'staccatto+pottatto' growl wud certainly have communicated a stern 'step back' to the king of the jungle :-)

if i ever get a HD, i am gonna visit u to help transform it to a not-so-low - be advised ;-)

Oh the bike is Just unbelievable now. Largely because now I have confidence to throw it around a bit because of ample GC
I have been on a bullet for more than 6-7 years , and then pulsar 200 (Still have them, My rule Never sell your Motorcycles ! ) and have travelled far and wide in deep pockets of uttaranchal several times. This was my 5th visit to Gangotri.

But Getting an Intro to Long Stroke v-Twin world , It has been an eye opener for me atleast, 3rd gear will keep the bike running uphill even very near to Idle, Although I kept the motor in 2nd for most of the tough inclines because the engine is still pretty new.
Another thing is , I Dont know if its just because of the weight or low CG , but it got me out of stupid mistake and I instantly became fan of its Stability.
On our way to Harsil, I crossed a running ford and then there was a downhill section.
I dont know why but I gunned the motor in 2nd, within seconds I looked at the speedo .
But just when I took my eyes off the speedo and looked ahead , there was another bigger ford with running water and Ice on its sides.
Panic- Brakes - Both wheels lock up on slippery icy road! Its Highly unusual for a motorcycle to lock both its wheels and still keep the rider on saddle.
I remember releasing the front and re-engaging it, but still could not get out of lockup.
Hit the water at about 50 and jumped out of the crest.
Bike landed and carried on as if it was asking me "what for are you scared?"
and next moment I was grinning wide.

So If you go for HD , You dont even need to visit Haridwar ( although you are more than Welcome) , I will get the extension made and ship. Just get them chrome plated and put them on.
          15mins Job that is.

jeez... that sounds pretty hairy... good to read that u r safe & so is the bike! :-) well that incident speaks a lot about the bike's character.

and again, thank you for the kind gesture of those extensions... will let u know for sure if i ever get a hd.

its taken me 2 yrs to convince my wife in allowing me to invest in a ninja650.

if i tell her that i need 2lakhs more for the bike, she will most certainly file for a divorce, burn off my current avenger 200 & then additionally file a domestic violence case on me too! ;-)

Ninja 650 is an awesome bike, I totally love it for its allround performance.
Harley is only for people crazy about old school craft and who love to work upon their bikes. In all other respects there are lot of bikes that would beat Harley on road.
So I personally like your decision and love the choice that you have made. Also Ninja is a Proven platform not some new punk on the block!

@ dustom_99 : a proven machine she indeed is... +1 to that. besides i love the fact that its back / shoulders / wrists / rider friendly [unlike the cbr's & yammies of the world.] lets see what i am destined to acquire! ;-) i still love the HD tho - guess its a decision of heart more than that of the mind or mebbe a lot of both! :-)

Absolutely love the fact that you ride with Indian performance bikes even after getting a harley.I have seen many people joining in different clubs and riding with other harley's only.
                      Good biker brotherhood spirit.

                        re: Dustom's Turbocharged Harley 1250

I am not much of a herd rider ,although I guess i would join Hogs on a ride atleast once in my lifetime just to find out whats that big train all about.
Where a showroom manager is telling you where the next ride is planned and you can join in by dropping by the starting point??.
Usually ride only with my close friends, which are very very limited in numbers.
And ofcourse I did not get a Harley to make new friends. Infact most of the people do not agree with my attitude to life , so Harley isnt going to help much.
Moreover you cant do much with that extra power on that sort of roads. It went there and came back without its tail between the legs is more than good for me.

Now that Bike has completed 4000kms , and front suspension inserts have completed 2500km without any problems its time to get them chrome plated.
Anyone knows good chrome shop in North india?? anywhere will do..
I could get them chrome in meerut, where people get there bullet mufflers chromed but quality is not that good.

No controlled env, I guess I was out of his strike range (no way of being 100%sure). Moreover this guy was very sluggish in even moving out of way, guess his body temp was below what he would have wanted .
