Thanks man i too have read your posts on the machine. I would really like to know how to go about run-in thing. Company has given guidelines with RPM. Till 480 Km only 5K RPM, 480 - 960 6K, 960 to 1200km 7K and 1200 - 1600 Km 8K. Now few fellow riders suggested me that its good for the engine to open up higher RPM in bursts occasionally. As of now bike has done 530 Km . Any cent of your advice would be a help.

Also I believe Triumph recommends 95 RON for Daytona and the same is put up on the tank as a sticker right? It would be nice if you could post a quick pic of the Tank showing the recommendation.

Yes sure. i hope pic is discernible. I dont think it is there on tank. Also i didnt notice any knocking with the normal unleaded fuel but yes she was getting hot. After that i am filling Speed only.

I followed the manual for the most part. Occasionally I would take it past the recommended rpm range. But the key point is, if you do take it past the recommended rpm range, dont keep it at that high rpm range for long....vary it. But for the most part stick to what the manual says. Its hard, but should serve you well in the long run. Good luck

I think i am on the right track because i am also doing run-in exactly what you have done.

Congrats on the Daytona. And the color red gives it a gorgeous look. Nice choice.

As for the running in of most modern bikes, ideally its most important to keep varying the rpm and hence intermediate bursts of throttle are good. Its important not to simply go into the top gear and cruise at a constant speed like how a dadaji would ride a bike. Once the engine is properly run in, you can rev it hard in almost any gear. These bikes are made to be ridden like that so dont worry.

Ride safe within your capabilities. Invest in good riding gear. And wish you many many miles of happy biking.

Well i have little idea about VIN nos. except that those are 17 Characters code. For Triumph first 3 characters are SMT and last 6 digits are chassis no.
In my warranty card the VIN no is given with date of manufacture 31 Mar 14. Also same VIN no matches with the VIN no on the neck of the bike Chassis. That conforms the no. is genuine. Regarding decoding part i still need to find out.

Hey BRO thanks a lot. The Daytona would cost you 11.23 Lakhs on road Delhi. 10.15 Lakhs ex-showroom they charging in Delhi. If you want to do insurance of your bike by your self as well as registration from a different state then the OTR would vary.

Also I intend to do a long trip from Delhi to Agra via express way and back this weekend (13 Sep 14) . However I don't want to ride alone. If any rider want to join the trip he is most welcome as it would be a great company and support. This would clear many aspects of Daytona like highway performance, Comfort and stress during continuous ride, heat from bike during 200 plus km as well as Fuel Economy. After this trip my bike would also be due for first servicing and would be cleared to take till 8K RPM.

Please contact me here if someone interested to join the Trip. Thanks.

Likewise Bharat Petroleum sells Speed and Speed 97 octane fuel which is 93 octane (98 RON) and 97 octane respectively.
It would be more clear if someone can throw some light on the fuel ratings. I read the fuel ratings from BP website and their price.
From what I recall, RON is the octane number used in India (taken from EU like everything else). The Americans use MON and the numbers are slightly different there. Maybe you're confused between RON and MON

Well definitely not with MON. Its true that despite lot of research on Octane no. still there is some scope in understanding the entire picture of Octane No. at least for me.
It is clear that in India RON is used. RON (Research Octane No.) is determined by running the fuel in a test engine with a variable compression ratio under controlled conditions, and comparing the results with those for mixtures of Iso-octane and n-heptane.
MON(Motor Octane No.) testing uses a similar test engine to that used in RON testing, but with a preheated fuel mixture, higher engine speed, and variable ignition timing to further stress the fuel's knock resistance. Depending on the composition of the fuel, the MON of a modern pump gasoline will be about 8 to 12 octane lower than the RON, but there is no direct link between RON and MON. In US the petrol offered is the AVG octane rating of both.

But most importantly following things are clear:-

                            1. In India RON is used to denote the Octane value of Fuel.
                            2. Normal unleaded fuel offered in India is 91 RON.
                            3. Extra Premium fuel offered in India is 91 RON with additives mixed.
                            4. In addition 93 and 97 RON fuel is available in India sold as Speed and Speed 97 respectively at select Petrol Pumps only.

However one thing isn't very clear to me that I have seen few cars and bikes recommends 95RON petrol. Where is this fuel sold? I don't think so 95 RON is sold anywhere or there is a different logic to it. Any information on it would help.

                              Yamuna Expressway 175 Km ride

OK some useful update about the bike performance. Today morning took the bike from Delhi to Yamuna expressway for testing the power and mileage of the bike. I started the ride after 0900 H due to some unavoidable reasons however the same went good as it gave some mixed traffic conditions. Approximately rode 38 Km in city and rest 137 Km purely on highway.
So i got the tank full with 93 Speed and reset the meter. There was some moderate traffic in the morning but it was manageable. On expressway took bike to 150 Kmph in short bursts also with tacho reading 8100 RPM. I must say the engine is quite refined and powerful. Red Fury (MY Bike Name ) easily doing those speeds as quick as the throttle is pushed. No problems with that. Also i realised that i need to duck low at that high speeds to reduce wind blast. Generally maintained speeds 100 to 110 Kmph so as to achieve best fuel efficiency with reasonable cruising speed.
Mileage achieved 19.33 Kmpl ! This is not bad at all as 40 km ride was in traffic and first servicing is yet to be done. The tank capacity of the bike is 17.2 Litres. So it should give 320 Km of run with a tank full considering the bike is ridden at moderate speeds. I seriously expect fuel efficiency would improve after first service.

Some pictures of the bike i am also posting which i clicked after i came back from the ride.

                              Quick Update for ABS malfunction:
The problem resolved after the bike was shown to service center. The problem has nothing to do with any mechanical component. It was something to do with adjusting the ABS magnetic sensor to ABS pulser ring gap to minimum at 0.5mm. The acceptable range is 0.5 to 1.5mm. This issue has been reported by others too. However service persons were not sure of this but hit and trial worked without they themselves realising they fixed it.

Maxtheo, the same ABS problem and the rectification process happened to RICCI's Daytona too. That too on his first day itself. So I think this is a common issue with daytonas. This is not a problem but issue to be consider during pdi.
