They did, advise and replace rear subframe and after that saw the main frame also was bent and then requested the owner to claim for total loss to insurance. But tell me how crucial is this 10mm difference can cause to the dynamics of the bike, can I live with it? Or it is not better to take risk ?

10 mm can cause lot of difference in ride quality. If I would've in your place I would stay away from this bike. There are other street triples for sale, just search on superbikes classifieds in fb.

I suggest you carefully evaluate few options - ride them yourself for at least 20-30 km distance before any decision is made.

1) Benelli 600i with ABS - it is a decent enough bike with sweet sound. They give 2+2 years warranty and good finance options too. Worth consideration. Just you should know that it is relatively older model and technology isn't as new as Triumph Street Triple. If you have stamina to wait and budget, then you might wait for new Kawasaki Z900 also as well as there would be Street Triple 765 as per some rumours! But if you can't wait then Benelli is decent choice for sure.
It won't be super quick and not as agile also. But a lot depends on rider how you extract performance.

**Person with average ability riding Benelli and riding Street Triple will naturally be faster on Street Triple. Penalty here is far higher price (nearly 3 lakhs extra! With that much money, you can buy high end riding gear from Italy or Germany and 1-2 years of petrol+maintenance of Benelli!!).

IF you are going for Benelli, do let me know - I know a rider who himself is Benelli Showroom owner in Mumbai (WORLI!!)

I went for Street Triple as that time Benelli was not with ABS. I am now of course not regretting my decision as this is a very good motorcycle and I am really enjoying.

2) Kawasaki Z800 - Despite this being far heavier, it is still strong competitor to Street Triple.
It has some advantages - higher power as stock, higher real ground clearance, adjustable suspension, smoother engine. It is way faster than Benelli and also faster than Street (in stock condition).
Negatives are heavy weight, hard uncomfortable seat - not practical as daily city ride especially in start stop traffic. Price is now a days nearly same as Street.

3) Honda CBR 650F - I don't like it so much but it has advantages too - fairing that makes touring comfortable, comfy seat, Honda reliability, lower price than Street
Negatives are - It doesn't feel like a superbike while riding - don't know why . Somehow, I don't see as many Hondas during my rides to Lonavla/Lavasa etc compared to Street Triple, Z800 or Benellis.. So may be lot of people feel the same way what I feel.

Street you of course know...If you can afford, then it still remains better choice - also probably most popular in 600-800 segment despite price.

@jeevan.chaukar ST is smoooooth. Looks like it can do 180 kmph all day long!

Did you get EU spec Air transition box + Arrow ECU map + Arrow Exhaust? Can you get the bike on DYNO?

Yes, I got the air box, map and exhaust already..FEw months ago..
Haven't done dyno etc as those facilities aren't easily available and I lack the time to do all that...As of now I am happy with existing tune of my bike so not bothered about numbers right now...Those numbers are in our mind only. Ultimately, we have to be clear that very few of us can actually use 100 bhp without getting in danger!
I am trying to learn the craft as much as possible in limited chances that I have (only 1 ride per week on Sunday mostly)...

Good call to drop it- it's already been dropped. 7.7 will get you a much better bike with better history. If you know any member of the local R.A.T.S, check with them. Often member who sell put the word out in their group. There was aStreet Triple on offer here in Kochi recently for exactly 7.7 lacs with more than a lac worth of accessories. I got the news from a friend who is a member of the local RATS. There are options don't jump in.

Note: Please try these kind of things only after plenty of practice and good roads with long distance clear visibility in day-light. Know your limits. I am not a great expert but know my limits and back down where needed rather than making high speed as a prestige issue. Also no racing on roads please....Helmet and full riding gear is a must have..Don't copy anyone else - do your own thing in a gradual manner.

I am using GoPro Hero Session 4. It is light and compact. Lasts for couple of hours. I have added 64 GB high speed Micro SD card to it.
Got this from USA during a visit at $200 + $17 for handle bar mounts. Including taxes it came to $235.

But there are certainly cheaper options like SJCAM. While quality is slightly down, they are way cheaper (colour are either pale or oversaturated while GoPro colour reproduction is totally natural - nearly as seen by our own eyes). Amazon.in has variety but you might do well to check actual dealers also and they may even give slightly better rates than Amazon.

Update about Tyres: Importing from outside versus buying locally

I tried getting Metzeler Sportec M7 RR tyres from Germany as they are significantly cheaper (as long as you can find someone to hand carry for you). It was about EUR 245 there while it is Rs 23500/- in Pune as far as I know. I even found someone with plenty of weight allowance who was coming back from there. Unfortunately, there was a fine print in airlines baggage allowance which stopped this process.
The guy had 46 Kg weight allowance as check-in and including tyres, he was well withing that limit. But they showed a condition which was not so obvious - 46 kg allowance was supposed to be used as only 2 bags with 23+23 kg weight max per piece. Since tyres were 3rd piece, they didn't allow.

This was odd situation but the lesson is that we must study baggage rules carefully before importing through someone who can hand carry the items for you. I had hand carried many things but that time we were multiple travellers and our # of bags were less so we didn't notice this issue.

Pirelli Rosso Corsa tyres are costlier and all reviews say Metzeler and Pirelli are on par and both are top of the segment.
But Metzelers are easily available in Pune and are cheaper. So I have decided to go with these.

Will let you know once tyre replacement is done. Now my ODO stands at about 10600+ km and my current stock Pirelli Rosso Corsa tyres are nearly done. Possibly they will last another 400-500 km but anything more is unlikely. Front has a bit of life but Rear is getting finished. It is not recommended to mix different brands so I will have to change both together to Metzeler.

I had made up my mind for ST and even took my kid and my family for finalizing the deal during the weekend, It so happened i felt to drop by to Honda showroom and test drive CBR650F for not more than 15mins. This bike really jolted me and impressed me for my kind of riding and personality, everything in the bike was made for purpose,reliability and perfection, It was like Self contained and composed bike. After Spending nearly an hour here, i went to Triumph with confused mind set, but i was sure ST would surpass my expectation.

Triumph arranged me a test ride, the bike was exceptionally comfortable and loss weight was very much noticeable the moment you sit, What broke my heart was, stalling, as a newbie, the bike stalled atleast 4 times during the mild traffic in first gear during take off, comparing to honda which was like non-stallable engine,. I went home now again with dilema of which bike, Called up Honda for long test rides, they instantly agreed for weekend, I did a test ride for 40-50Kms was pretty convinced this is the right bike for me,

Comparing with z800 close competitor in price, The acceleration and top speed are almost similar. Then again the surprising news of massive price drop of 1L for CBR650F recently, Which has cleared my blur for Z800 vs CBR 650F. Booking CBR 650F, On the price front it is now 1.5L cheaper than z800 and 2L cheaper than ST, and just 50K more than Benelli.
As requested by xbhpains i will create a separarte thread and post my experience in detail, Thanks everyone for guiding me to avoid pitfall, I may request you to help me find good riding gear for 40K very soon.

CBR650F is surely a good choice if it is like 2 L cheaper than the Street Triple. That now makes it reasonably priced bike.


Heartiest congratulations! Keep riding and be safe...Wear best possible gear and learn your technique before you start going really fast on your new love!

Your aim of getting good riding gear under Rs 40000/- is a bit ambitious and may require you to make some amount of compromise. But still it should allow you to buy everything from the budget brands.

Please check www.motoroids.com - they have one article on affordable basic riding gear.

By the way - not only the riding gear - you will have to buy plenty of protective stuff for your bike - e.g. Frame Sliders, Fork Sliders, Paddock Stand Bobbins, Tank Pad, Tank Grips etc... Another thing you will surely go for within few months is Yoshimura or other good quality exhaust system as stock exhaust is so silent that it robs the feeling of riding a wonderful 4 cylinder superbike.

Stalling of Triumph Street Triple - I think you may have suffered this purely because first gear is rather tall on Street. So a new person ends up stalling the bike few times. But that is no deal breaker. I ride this bike daily in Hinjewadi traffic which is really bad but except first 1-2 days, I haven't faced stalling at all as I am totally used to it.

There is other issue of stalling on Street which is of completely different type (engine is spinning at say 5000-6000 RPM and then you press clutch and drop accelerator to ZERO - some people have faced the issue that engine entirely stops in such case). This I haven't faced but some have faced it.
Once you ride street, you mostly are likely to forgive all of that

Tyre Update:

Finally after a long ordeal, it seems that I will be getting new Metzeler Sportec M7RR tyres (Front and Rear) tomorrow and hopefully will get these fitted onto my bike during this week.
Triumph Service Centre also mentioned that my front wheel rim should be available in this week and I should be able to fit new tyre on new rim (front) while rear rim is good so it is just a tyre change for rear.

Will update this thread about final price etc once through.
