dustom_99 i have no idea about locally made dynos. I dont have anything for or against powerdrift as well. A transmission loss of 15% is the norm hence 95ish rwbhp is okay for a 110 bhp bike. This one had an arrow exhaust and arrow map as claimed Wch explains few hp jump according to them.
I m sure, this time around, the journalists would ask for arai figures first thing on launch/ review. But i do agree... the official reviews must post its arai spec sheet this time.

I wrote down a longish post , and then realised what's the point. With triumph we all have already gone through all of it.
It would be interesting to see sales Boucher claiming and what does that small star say this time.

I am absolutely sure triumph themselves were not the first ones to spill the beans. On this or the other forum, some member mentioned he saw arai charts and that they only showed 78bhp. Digging further revealed it could be that south american tune etc. It took nearly 10days for just this much to unfold where members got into action for good.
What i said is not to believe what triumph says this time. I expressly said journos should post pics of arai spec chart i cluding graphs if any. I dont think triumphs claims hold any value for us anymire. They have lost the credibility in this matter for good.
Regarding dynos and Dyno tuning, they are most commonly used for engine tuning and upmapping the world over and yes there are machine to machine as well as climate based variations. But then there are caliberations too.
If u r saying we should not believe PD s claims about rwbhp figures, i cant say i disagree. But if pd or any other journo doesn't verifys arai specs this time around, such a reviewer will also lose credit in my eyes too. I guess thats why in this particular review they tried to depict that they did their part to verify engine specs this time. Well.. this isn't the best or most reliable way to do it. They should have asjed triumph for arai approval sheets. Lets see Wch auto mag does that.

It's a thing of past years and long gone and I have lost the track largely, I guess I was the one who posted ARAI homologation doc on TEambhp and hardware changes between EU and Brazilian version.
You can go on that time of interweb and see that dynos and magazines had tested the then Triumph bikes and posted inflated graphs to come near official figures ( the figures they thought were true , before beans were spilled)
Not many were criticised for this . I donno what kind of money would companies be paying such phoney ass magazine.
Anyway , since I have lost interest in Triumph totally because they have absolutely no face to sell passion possessions on fake figures. So next time it would take govt certificates before atleast I will think of them in good light.

Yes.
Much more than triumph, it was these journos and magazines whom i lost faith in.
They were the ones who couldn't call their bluff despite it being their job. Thankfully we have lots of international forums for each model this time. However a lot of india specific doubts still remain unanswered there.
If it wasn t for a vigilante auto buff like u, who knows they may have got away with it.

I am not the one responsible for catching Triumph , I remember the debate was already on by then, when I posted type approval certificate in one of the thread. So I can't claim the credit of catching them.

I have written a lot about how I ended up buying the street triple so won't repeat. Even now there is a nightmarish experience going on for one particular buyer in Mumbai. But we can't generalize . My own experience has not been bad so far. Compared to Triumph I found attitude of Kawasaki and Honda lacking for sure - again there would be others who might say opposite. I try to be very neutral and fair as much as possible in my posts so that nobody is misguided by anything that I write.

After much thought, reading and watching reviews for what felt like eternity, finally bought the Street Triple 765 S.
I could have created a new blog a new thread for the street triple 765 however I feel Jeevan sir’s review is an honest one with no frills one and adding it to this thread would give a mature perspective to both the models – 675 and 765. Also the fact that the decision to go for Street Triple 765 was heavily based on the Street Triple 675.

Dear Augustine - I think we have met once in Lonavla probably. Thanks for the kind words! Let's meet once you are through with first servicing - by then hopefully the skies will also open up and we can do some justice to potential of this wonderful machine

The first service is at 800 kms or 1 month whichever is earlier, thereafter every 10,000 km or a year whichever is earlier.

For the first 1600 km one has to adhere to the speed limit or rather RPM limit.
• 0 - 480 km not to exceed 5000 RPM
• 480 - 960 km not to exceed 6000 RPM
• 960 to 1280 km not to exceed 7000 RPM
• 1280 to 1600 km not to exceed 8000 RPM

Though the bike comes with factory setting which sets the RPM limiter at 3500 so you will see the blue light flashing all the time.

Have been going for short rides around the city. The aim is to get 800 km on the odometer for the first servicing. As mentioned in the previous posts the bike gathers muck very easily, it was a mild shower and roads were dry and there was no water logging however you can still see how much muck the bike gathers. (have attached pics)

While I enjoy cleaning the bike as much as riding it. Keeping the bike clean is a task in itself and needs lot of time and patience. I am still yet to figure out how to keep the radiator clean. The front mudguard being a short one the radiator is easily susceptible to gather muck. And during the monsoons a mixture of water and mud hardens on the radiator and does not come clean even when water pressure is applied.

Trying to find after market mudguard extensions and also have to get radiator guard. Please suggest if anyone has gone mudguard extension and radiator guard. I am not sure if Triumph accessories has the extension or the radiator guard.

Hi Kamlesh,

I have one very sincere suggestion despite being a Street Triple owner already. If you are hell-bent on getting a street triple, then I believe you should wait for RS version to get launched also (you hopefully should not be too desperate as you do have one Triumph to ride already )

For S version though, there is a formidable competition from Kawasaki Z900 which is a bit cheaper also. Agreed that Kawasaki is heavier - but it isn't as heavy as older Z800 but is more powerful. So now it is way too close between these two bikes than the past. RS version will beat the Kawasaki hands down but is also going to cost much more - yet it will be worth.

I remain a Street Triple fan so my recommendation is to wait for RS and then only decide. Hope they don't price RS way too high to take into Ducati or MV Agusta territory

Other update from me:

Just finished my 2nd annual service (did it a bit ahead of time for no particular reason as such - actually supposed to happen in September but almost 1.5 month ahead of schedule). ODO was about 14700 km.

Expenses include Triumph Major Service Kit (roughly Rs 8500) and Labour charges for service (about Rs 3500). I separately bought oil (Motul 300V 10W40 due to good result from last year) and spent Rs 3600 for the same. Air filter, Oil filter, Spark Plugs, Cylinder head gasket etc was changed. Coolant was only topped up. They have also done Throttle Body cleaning, Stepper Motor Adjustment and recalibration etc.

I asked the showroom folks to leave out Chain Cleaning and Lubrication as I prefer doing it at home anyway and have the necessary stuff with me.

Overall about Rs 16000/-

I did get my brake pads checked and have even got Brembo pads from UK (90 GBP) for the front but the current Nissin pads still have about 2500-3000 km left in them so will be changing both front and rear pads in about 3000 km from now.

Currently I think they have Red and Black options only - among these I prefer the Red - but that is very subjective as some may find black much more stealthy and elegant. Red is more in your face colour and not everyone prefers.

Other than what Jeevan sir has mentioned - Colour is a personal statement and while Red is flashy ; Black is stealth. Also Black colour demands a higher price roughly Rs 12000 more than Red. I think decision to choose colour should be made by heart and not mind

Yesterday gave the bike for first servicing - I had clocked 700 km on the odo. Probably i was the last one among the lot that got Street Triple to get the first servicing done. I guess am sceptical to take out the bike during monsoon due to the fact that even after numerable wash there is still mud hardened in radiator. Anyways it was one month due so had to get the servicing done. First servicing does not take much time, you may get the bike back in 3 hours. I chose to hang around the showroom and got the bike around lunch time, had given the bike around at 11 am. I was reading through one of the earlier posts by Jeevan Sir and it says the first servicing for ST 675 cost Rs 6400. By that account servicing cost has not changed much and is almost similar.

All the prices are including GST

1st Service Labour Charge - 2360
Chain cleaner - 170
Chain lube - 170
Castrol Oil 4 lts - 3360
Filter, Oil, OES - 681
Washer Sealing - 100

Total - Rs 6841

In addition I also went for an accessory - Frame Protector. The price is Rs 8000 and another thousand for fitting. I am planning to go for basic protection kit - fork protector and the engine cover protector. Most of the accessories for Street Triple are not yet available and are still in transit and may take some time to be readily available.

In after market purchases i am thinking strongly to go for a front fender extender, this will avoid the dust that kicks into the radiator. If that does not solve the problem then may be go for a radiator guard.

I am also looking around for personal protection gear - helmet, riding boots, riding pants. Currently have a cross helmet which throws back my face at 100km/hr also the DSG textile jacket fills up with air even after the zipper is upto my neck and offers very less resistance. I went with all my savings to purchase the bike and now feel that should have kept aside some for the accessories and gear. Protective gear is very important if you want to enjoy riding the bike. Nevertheless will gradually go for them.

Had a short ride after the first servicing, with the new engine oil the bike feels lighter probably the throttle is more responsive also there is a grunt to the firing and a roar after 5000 RPM, I am not yet crossing the 6000 RPM so wonder how it will sound at 7000 - 8000 RPM

Dear Augustine,

I would definitely suggest choosing stronger quality gear at this point. Definitely you should get higher quality helmets like X-Lite, HJC etc. Also, surely look for a helmet that fits all the below criteria (my X-Lite 603 has all of it)
a) Ventilated
b) D-Ring straps
c) Pinlock Visor
d) Removable and washable inner linings
e) Provision to fit helmet communication device
f) It should definitely fit snugly - cheek pads will significantly press your cheeks initially. Check the gap with finger between your forehead and helmet inner liner when you wear it - finger should not be able to slide between the gap or rather that gap should be almost none.

If you have any relative traveling from USA or Germany or Singapore etc, ask him/her to carry in the helmet for you. The prices are WAY CHEAPER abroad.

For jacket also, please choose a good quality jacket. Preferably go for a mesh jacket that has removable waterproof shield. I am using a costly Vanucci textile jacket (Italian brand) and in terms of safety it is awesome. But it is not usable in hot weather despite being ventilated - I do use it in hot weather but it results in lot of sweating if you get stuck in traffic for even 2 minutes or even if you are slow moving under scorching sun. Leather is even worse in terms of real world usability in Indian condition though these options are more protective than mesh jackets.

Now there are many Indian brands coming up in riding gear (Rynox, Solace, Zeus, Aspida etc seem quite ok to me) and you can try them out. I suggest you to visit a place called "OPEN ROAD PUNE" located in Phoenix Market City Mall. Maybe you can start this year with mid range priced gear and as you gain more confidence, you can upgrade to high end imported gear including helmet.

There is no upper limit in terms of what you can spend - so be judicious! Try to get stuff from abroad as much as possible when it comes to riding gear. Try it out in Indian shops to ensure correct size - then order same thing in USA or Germany etc.

One more suggestion:

You can buy a paddock stand (check face book page of GA Engineering Mumbai) for about Rs 3000/- and then onwards, you can do the chain lube/cleaning at home and save significantly. This doesn't impact warranty and you have to do this every 500 km rather religiously.

Slowly people are releasing DIY videos of even other things like Brake Pad Cleaning etc but I would not advise during warranty period - let showroom guys handle during warranty.

By the way - if Triumph is charging Rs 12000/- extra for black colour then there is absolutely no sense in buying that colour unless you are hellbent on that colour. In fact from what I see, that black paint is not at all anything special (unlike the matte black or gray schemes you see on some very high end cars). It is not deserving any premium and seems just like a money making strategy without actually giving anything really to the customer.

Red at lower price looks very attractive and is quite attention grabbing wherever you go.

• Re: Red Rose - my new Triumph Street Triple 675 RED!

Agree with you Jeevan Sir, have been a do it yourself kind of guy for some time. And i guess all petrol heads who care about their ride do like to fix their bike as much as possible. Of course when you have to take the ride to a authorised mechanic or service station you have to.

have attached the maintenance kit that I bought for KTM 390.

1. Paddock Stand
2. Chain cleaning lube
3. Chain Oil (Castrol SAE 90)
4. Chain cleaning brush
5. Carnuba wax

Note the paddock stand can be used without bobbins. Was worried that I would have to go for a new Paddock for Triumph however it fits for Triumph street as well.

There could also be different opinion on the choice of chain oil. The SAE 90 is basically gear oil however was suggested by the KTM mechanic so went for it, it stays on chain for 350 - 400 kms and so far no complaints. I am using the same on Street Triple as well

Chain cleaning brush is a recent addition and bought online from Amazon for Rs 190 its very easy to use and saves lot of time and gives a better finish than a rag or cloth can give. I strongly recommend the chain cleaning brush to everyone

These basic tools help you keep the ride clean and oiled for basic maintenance. Any and all suggestions are welcome on maintenance kit I feel this is bare minimum one should have for day to day maintenance however if anyone has any thought on some other basic tools to add please suggest -

Protective gear is very important and only enhances the pleasure of riding responsibly. Investing in protective gear will save you lots and lots of money what one may end up in hospital bills. First priority being a helmet went around window shopping to stores in Pune. There are lot of options and you will get what you can pay for.

Pro-biker helmets and accesories store in camp pune offers good choice in Zeus, Rynox and other brands as well. They avoid high end brands like AGV, Shoei, HJC, Arai because they are slow moving products and are very expensive. The store offers good choices in other protective gear as well.

Dream Sporting gear is authorised Alpinestar distributor and they have other brands as well. At the time I went, the store was expecting AGV helmet shipping to arrive in 15 - 30 days. Expected pricing for AGV k3 series was around 23k and for AGV k5 was 25k and above.

I thought of going to the Open Road store in Phoenix mall but could not make it, will definitely go in the next few days.

In the meanwhile was surfing over the net and came across bikegear.in they had lots of option and had a good collection for AGV helmets. Their online chat expert can call you if needed and provide suggestions as per your requirement. The store or warehouse is located in Jaipur or atleast thats where the shipment originated from.

I placed the order for AGV K3 SV helmet on Sunday morning and the helmet was in my hands on Tuesday afternoon through blue dart. Got a pinlock visor, the helmet has dark sunvisor built into it. Only K5 series and above come with Double D ring, So had to do with a single D ring strap here are the pics
