ah.sorry i missed your post. regarding your postsript first,
indeed i am.Originally posted by acdc View PostWell doc (assuming that you are a surgeon as your handle suggests)
Cheers!

if you mean you are at tesla, i m due for my next visit there soon. my nephew is in their product dev team.though I work for an automobile company that makes premium electric cars and ACDC is my fav band.
my favorite band is 92.7 BIG FM | Indore they are playing old indian songs all the time.
thanks. would do that again.I strongly advise you to attend CSS
i never said i am against upgrade. i am not. nor am i against a leap at least here in my country. the reasons are cited below.they will clear all your doubts regarding upgrades
bingo!it is an eye opener for all kind of riders with 'n' numbers of riding experience.
why of course.you will know what they teach you over there not just applies to track but to your daily riding (doesn't matter if it's a 50cc scooter or a litre class) as well
but one would be mistaken if he or she thinks that they teach you every single thing a street rider should know about. no one can. its not within the scope of riding schools actually. no ex css trained person should , at least on chaotic streets of india, assume so. i am sure no one from around here does. this is why i said what i did, and mr jeevans posts also conferred to it. in fact thats why we are having this whole discussion. some people who wouldnt ever go whole nine yards with their bikes may, under the usual safe limits take the leap. and if most such people arent crashing, who are we to dictate that sports bikes should only be used on tracks and by people who would take em to the limits? by that logic woodland should be banned for people who dont go hiking. alas we give each person a freedom of choice. in fact if you would check out that 1.12 crore INR ( a crore is 10 million by the way.) ducati superleggera, most international journalists believe these limited edition dopes wont ever be used on road by most all of the owners. so should we oppose them buying her as an expensive living room fixture? i doubt theres anything sane in it.
of course we all have our reasons and we all tweak the knowledge gained from all sources including this forum and the riding schools with a little dose of variety of experiences we get. thats why theres no simple or yes or no answer to most things in life. even the sun doesnt rises from east if you are at north or south pole of our planet.I have attended one in California and No amount of reasoning I or other members give you may be sufficient to decide how to go about upgrading or taking a leap.
..
.
.
Go through this page some posts do throw light on why to upgrade and not take leap. 15 things to consider before buying a big motorcycle - Page 4 - Team-BHP
make that most of india which indeed is my location . and this is precisely one of the reasons i talked of guarded leaps being fine here. With the kind of road conditions you have in Indore (as your location suggests) is quite a good bike to move around.
to curb confusion i would rephrase my stand on this topic in simple words-
1.- on tracks theres absolutely no place for a leap. step by step upgrade is the only way to go ahead.
2. - on chaotic streets of india, no training will save you from mishaps. not even a god like control of your ride.
3. - on unpredictable crowded streets here, no matter what bike you ride, you have to be within a very narrow range of performance of your machine. anything above is a potential risk. trying to gauge the potential of any bike on streets is a joke, a disaster in waiting. and i didnt mean only sbk. this applies to anything with engine over 150cc
4. - on indian streets no amount of experience will save you.
5.- a leap doesnt means buying sbk as your very very first, learner s bike.
looking at above 4 points, i reasoned that if you rode your 250 cc bike on indian streets (strictly) for years and then 600 cc for ages, finally planning to buy that hyper or maxisport all you have ever done here is rode your previous bikes in a very very narrow band with absolutely no guarantee you wouldnt meet the ground on big bike . if you are sure not to overshoot this band willingly, you 'maybe' very much okay with directly getting the big one and riding her albeit on that narrow range. if you are aware of sbk threads on this forum and the one you quoted ( i dont know if its allowed though) you might just be fine on bigger bike. that seems to be the logic as to why many people who took the leap didnt see their rubber side up. not everyone who leaped here crashed and this phenomenon has to be looked into. and it may make sense for people with sbk dream who would own her for barely a year or 2 to buy what their heart desired. most people here, who buy sbk do fall in this category. and these are the one who would wonder - "but i always dreamed of an aaar won and nothing else, cant i buy that right away". they may not buy anything for this step by step upgrade and may miss out on ever owning a sbk and hence this discussion. in an ideal world, most of these riders would take a step by step upgrade enjoying each bike for what its made for and increasing our tribe. but in a more practical world, lot of people take the plunge here but they have very little options to get on the limits-personal or bike's. let people have the pleasure of fulfilling their biggest dream safely by not confusing them and by guiding them about what they are stepping into. i hope you got my point of view.
why dont you sell your splendor and buy a learjet with the loose change that came with big moolahI am not sure how you arrived to the conclusion that i said splendour riders are bad or to be looked down upon.
hope you would now get the tone of your words. by the way you sure must be aware there are lot of bleeding edge bicycles that you cant buy without selling your sbk and adding some more money but none of us meant that.
all the fun stuff... yeah....Even I am nearing 40's and have been involved with bikes since I was 15 so i know a little bit of both riding and the amount of fitness(strong lower back) required in 3rd decade of life for all the fun stuff.
cheers for the 40s.Last edited by entsurgeon; 04-25-2017, 11:24 AM.

Re: Help me buy a superbike
I have taken my fat Gixxer to the Hills, a place named Manali in Himachal a few time and it was out of its comfort zone. It was not only the road or the pot holes or the inability to take the lesser beaten track in case of rains but the riding position that is not conducive for extensive hill riding.
Super sports are very light so they are much easier to handle but conversely the riding position is even more extreme.
You ll actually have to take it for a long spin to see if it works for you.
Personally, if you not into riding much get it. For everything else better options are available.2011 Suzuki GSX1300R - Tiforce full titanium DUAL 380 MM, ECU editor Flashed , Unrestricted , custom Map, PCV, Steel Braided Lines , Supersprox F/R, Evotech keyless, Pazzos , FP Tactical , speed o healer , ebc Extreme Pro , Zero Gravity DB , BMC race a/f , Brembo Radial M/C , Galfer Wave rotors F/R , Brembo HP Calipers , Brembo Reservoir, Corbin Custom Seats f/r , Dual HIDs, custom paint and GPR V4 SS.

Re: Help me buy a superbike
I have been a member of XBhp for a long time now.. and I often browse the forum whenever I get time. Please note that my question may be OT
I've been eyeing on Z900 for quite a time. I stay in Pune and originally belong to Bhopal. Now the problem is that in Pune the Z900 costs roughly 10lacs whereas in Bhopal/Indore it's more than a lac cheaper. I just wanted to know is there a way I can purchase (if I do
) the bike from my hometown and get it to Pune without riding it (the distance is 900km)? How expensive can it get to get the bike here? Is it possible to purchase the bike in Pune and get it registered in MP without actually taking the bike there? What are the legal obligations? What will be the road tax here and If I pay the road tax will that be enough to ride a bike from another state? Or is it better to buy the bike in Pune?
I know my questions might sound stupid but there is not much information available online regarding this.
