The word that comes to my mind is "just enough strength" when I see the side stand or some other parts, Kawasaki Bangalore is under equipped as of now in regards to parts, My brake levers were broken and a lead time of 4 weeks was provided to me,

What you can do is order the part from Kawasaki pune and have it delivered here, I got my brake levers within 24 hours instead of the 4 weeks as told by Kawasaki service centre. unfortunately they do not have the footpeg mount as of now.

Side stand looks "just enough" to me, I believe it can perform but yeah a little push from the other side is all it will take to topple the bike over. That is why I am parking it in closed spaces and if the place is open I am always present around. Don't want to take chances, with the service centre and the insurance policies not being up to the mark.

Frame sliders: Get them. bt do understand that in the event of a fall, The handlebar would still hit the ground and the levers can break off. same can be said about the pillion and rider footpeg. you cannot avoid that.

I am jealous that you got to ride the bike and I am yet to take it to the highway. have completed only 100km till now. I have started the claim procedure which took 12 days, and the only god knows how much more time.
Enjoy your bike and don’t worry much about the side stand. Ride long and ride safe buddy.
    Thanks brother.

Just an update, i have placed an order today itself with Evotech-performance.com (Uk) for the below parts.

    1. Kawasaki Ninja650 2017 Rear Spindle Bobbins

    2. Kawasaki Ninja650 2017 Front Spindle Bobbins

    3. Kawasaki Ninja650 2017 PaddockStand SwingArm Bobbins

    4. Kawasaki Ninja650 2017 Crash Protection

    5. Kawasaki Ninja650 2017 Radiator Guard

Unfortunately, the radiator guard is currently out of stock. A friend of mine would be carrying the courier back to India, whilst in his return journey next week. Will have it installed asap.

Regarding the handle bars, i think there are a few handle bar protectors available at Alibaba site. Not much sure about the build quality, hence wouldn't recommend that to myself or anyone to install that.

The nimble stand however needs a small extender. I currently don't have the pic of that extender, once i have that, will surely post it here in this forum.

Apart from that, i am yet to add a good looking tankpad (not the ones with skulls or some sketal graphics but a plain and simple one would do the work), a pair of stomgrips and few more to add on later.

Let's see what all might be added later on.

Wish your bike a speedy recovery, and lots of miles to munch on the roads ahead.

Let's catch up some fine day.

Wear Proper Gears, and say yes to Safe Riding
Have a Sane & Safe Joyful Ride !!!

She is already in the garage now..

As for the parts that you ordered. You could have got them from 6k to isle of Mann at Kasturba road , Bangalore. I don tknow wether they have the front fork sliders and the rear axle sliders but they do have the frame sliders and the radiator guard to my knowledge, give them a call and see if they have the radiator guard. You might get lucky. Those guys are part of the rideventur group which owns the sales and dealership, they will install the parts on site too.

I looked for tankpads too.. but I am planning to get my bike wrapped, it's all Balck so many possibilities with a wrap. And for atom grips and tank pad check out "biking spirit" if I am correct with the name, it is exactly behind the triumph showroom on residency road Bangalore, it is on the St.marks road side of the prestige mall, I found the prices comparable or even lower than what I see online and the guys there are helpful and you will have peace of mind of having the product in hand before paying and immediate delivery and installation.

Hope this helps.. ride long ride safe

Re: My new Touring partner | Ninja 650- 2017

I have my own doubts about the existence of bar end slides and their use on ninja 650 which already has a thick cylinder made out of aluminium. [emoji1]

You can claim the stock sliders as part of insurance but don't think you can do that for accesories.

Re: My new Touring partner | Ninja 650- 2017

            An Update:
Very bad service experience with kawasaki india.

My bike needed a rear footpeg stay after the fall from standstill... I took the bike to the service center in jayanagar, Bangalore. The order for parts was placed on 29th of august as per the service center. Now the ordeal begins.

Three parts were to be ordered.
            1. Front brake lever
            2. rear brake lever.
            3. Right side footpeg stay assembly.

the time I was given was 3 weeks, which comes down to around 20th of September as per them, and the job is of 15minutes. It has been over a month now and I am still to get my bike. On enquiry I found out that. The parts have stll not shipped to their service center.

the date they gave me was 18th of september, but the Invoice for the rear brake lever was created on 27 th of september and for the stay assembly it was created on 4th of october. Obviously kawasaki does not know how to do inventory.

to add to the burns, I was not informed of anything in here by the service centre, all they had to say was "we cannot do anything". I will create a detailed thread on this regard to get advice from other forum members.

Kawaski service experience | customer support

Hello forum members, I need some advice from you guys over my experience with Kawasaki service quality. So here is the story. I will try to keep it as short as possible in chronological order

              1. 10Aug: I got the delivery of my ninja 650, 2017.
              2. 11Aug: Friend Drops the bike from standstill, rear footpeg comes off as the stay assembly breaks.
              3. 12-25Aug: Issues with Reliance General Insurance, as they say cashless on their website but do not provide cashless facility. (do not buy reliance general).
              4. 29Aug: bike dropped at service center, 2 other parts ordered as they suffered small damages and Insurance was nil-depreciation.
              5. 29Aug: Order for parts placed with Kawasaki India by Kawasaki Bangalore, I have the order number.
              6. 3Sep: Expected date of vehicle release given as 18September.
              7. 15Sep : Parts did not arrive.
              8. 19Sep: Kawasaki Bangalore denies all responsibility and quotes they cannot do anything till parts arrive, and they have no say in the inventory of Kawasaki India.
              9. 19Sep: Mail and calls to Kawasaki India customer care, no replies to mail and customer care admits to having no information apart from service center address.
              10. 24Sep: Showroom still has no clue as to where the parts are or when they will arrive. It is said to be in transit.
              11. 27Sep: First part's invoice is generated from Pune, part is not shipped yet. This is not even the stay assembly which was required.
              12. 5Oct: Stay assembly Invoice generated at the inventory, part still not shipped yet.
              13. 7Oct: Service guy informs that the stay assembly is part of the shipment but cannot guarantee its arrival until he gets it in his hand.

The bike is still at the service center..
              My questions are

              1. Kawasaki India does not have a contact person to raise complaints to. The customer care number actually welcomed me a s royal enfield customer and when I dug up that issue, found out that they handle 3 brands, so they are a 3rd party and not Kawasaki. The mail channel is also handled by them and they have no info whatsoever apart from the phone number and address of the nearest service center and showroom.

              2. Kawasaki Bangalore denies any responsibility in the process claiming that the max they can do is raise an order, the fulfillment of the order is handles by Kawasaki India, and they have no control over the process.

              3. If Kawasaki Bangalore has no control over the process and Kawasaki India has no contact person or channel to raise complaints to, how is a customer supposed to raise an issue in situation like this, when the service center itself has given up on the process.

              4. Is it usual for the part to take 1+ month to start shipping from their source, These bikes are assembled in India. Online retailers from USA are giving a 5 day shipping guarantee , what is stopping Kawasaki from doing so.

I raised this issue with the Principal dealer for Kawasaki Bangalore(deepak hegde) , and ashwith shetty (senior service manager for Kawasaki India) but all i get is a lackluster "I will get back to you on this" response which they never get back to.

as a customer my contact point should be the service center and nothing beyond that. What should/can a customer do if the service center is unable to do its duties or denies any say in the process by claiming that "Kawasaki Bangalore is a customer to Kawasaki India"

so my bike is at the service center and the service center cannot give me a date by which I can get the bike. It can be a week or a month, for just 1 part for a bike that is being manufactured within the country.

I feel one month is kind of reasonable, given that the Honda SVC took almost 2 months to get stock of brake pistons for CBR 250, locally manufactured product from Thiruvalur District, TN, around ~700 kms from the SVC!

But mostly heard bad reviews of the service and after sales value.

You mean Kwackers have low resale value? I had assumed the opposite due to the reliability of Kawasaki.

Seems like the best bikes for resale value are super bikes. Going by the sbk classifieds, there is always demand for the 1000 wala. Have you considered the ninja 1000?

Hello Mr Arun Kumar....It is really unfortunate that you are going through this ordeal. The bike looks fabulous and I am sure its frustrating not being able to ride it for so long... I dread something similar for my bike now.....I wonder how much essential inventory my dealership has!! Maybe I should stock up on some parts myself for any such eventualities... I have had two occasions when the bike fell to the right side while going downhill in bumper to bumper traffic...no physical damage to the bike luckily though your pride takes a beating in such situations...

I suggest you forget about the insurance business for the time being and file for a claim later...the bottlenecks could be in the way they process the claims...i am not sure but just wondering

Nope, find it too, heavy, wanting something lighter, hence street triple, but cbr is a long shot here , will wait for more ownership reviews and decide, my actual initial choice was the fz07 or the tracer 700, but yamahas lack of interest in mid and big segment bikes is very disappointing, I find the yamaha twin honestly better than ninja, but that's just speculation, the 1000 is a bit too heavy, will wait a bit and decide. But before a bigger bike I will get a scooter, kinda fed up of using my cbr for even a supermarket run 😂

Another update: got the bike.. but did not take it out till the time I had the frame sliders installed.

The service guy appologized for the delay, but the lag in service cannot be undone. From what I know I am not the only one. All the models are facing this issue.. from what I know Kawasaki and Bajaj had parted ways 2-3 months earlier but Kawa was still using the manufacturing unit of Bajaj at chakan.. now they are shifting to their own facility in akurdi, Pune... I checked on the label on the packaging of the brake lever, it was indeed akurdi and not chakan.. still does not justify the delay in parts that are being manufactured in Indonesia.(rear footpeg stay assembly)

I am happy that I got my bike but not really happy about the time it took and logistics problem with Kawasaki and the way it was done..

Advice from service centre.. of possible buy and keep spare parts for the bike those which don't really need a visit to service centre.. levers, pegs, cable etc.. I bought a brake lever as spare.. and wud get the other basic parts soon too.

                              Update on the bike:
I did a 320km ride the very next day I got it from service centre..and now she is covered in dirt.. with all that distance in rain.. my guts could take me to 165kmph in normal Highway traffic before my helmet turned into a vibrator.the bike is really comfortable at those speeds, the only danger I found was the road conditions and cattle roaming around on the highway. even road patchwork would not go un-noticed and might unsettle the rider if you miss seeing it.. Sweet spot as of now if 130-140kmph at 6th gear 5500-6500rpm.. the engine is pretty quiet too at this speed, no violence on the acoustic front. After this.. a vibrating helmet and screeching wind noice was making it uncomfortable to maintain higher speed.

Any suggestions on a good helmet? I need something which can take this buffeting issue atleast to 150kmph if not higher? and yes quiet helmet is appreciated , I am not a fan of loud exhaust on long journeys..

Congrats on the new bike Arun. It's a nice bike. You should add a frame slider and rear suspension spool to save against body damage during fall. Also, get shorty levers & foot pegs from ebay. They're much cheaper and look pretty good.

Here is a pic of my bike.
