  • 600CC - Can I get one

Hello... just need some honest opinions, its been some time I have been wanting to get myself a super sports bike. I finally have a budget of 5Lacs INR.

With this I cant really get the official litre class bikes launched in india with their ridiculous price tags (Thanks to 120% duty in india on CBU's).

I was thinking off getting myself a 600CC (options here are YAM YZF6, Honda CBR 600RR, Gixxer 600, Ninja), ofcourse 5Lacs is not really enuf to get myself a new one, but can I get something close to a new one? What all do I need to keep in mind before I invest this amount?

Do I have anyother options? There are speculations that Bajaj and KTM are launching Duke690 by next month end, then again thinking about bajaj I won't be surpirsed if they delay it 2020

I have heard that its cheaper to import from Thailand, is it true. Appreciate your help here.

    Thanks & Regards,

BTW I am from good ol bangalore.

First of all, you need to buy a legal import with the DRI picking up bikes these days. Secondly, you cannot import anything below 800 cc.

Check the papers of the bike. Especially, bill of lading which will hve the duty and the date of import on it. Check if the RC book mentions the true description of the bike.

I understand, even I thot the same, and go for Honda CB1000R, but I am planning for YAMAHA FZ6R. But then again I am confused, Can we not import a 600CC in india, then what about so many 600's on sale, they are not legal?

          What can for 5Lacs?????

I can assure you one thing.Even if Bajaj happens to launch it this calender year it will never cost 5lakh.It will cost somewhere above 7 lakh for sure.

Says who? Legally you cannot import Anything! 800 cc or 1800cc or 125cc. Which is why you pay penalty. Penalty can be anything between 0 and 200% depending on your negotiating skills with the bribe hungry official.

Not just 600, most bikes are illegal because they have NOT paid the requisite duty or Penalty. They have been illegally got in as accessories. Which is why the DRI is after these bikes. These are the problems with unscrupulous Bike/Arms dealers in this country!
The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!

I know you have to pay a penalty for everything but you can't get away with it with a 600. You will have to send it back. Unless, you do it like the grey market dealers.

Any individual who wants to import a bike himself can do so, as long as its 800cc and above. Its not illegal to import a bike 800cc and above. It is, if you import a 600. The only way you can get a 600 legally is if you get it on TR.

My uncle's had 4 bikes so far, all legally imported by himself. The 800cc rule came sometime back so he has had two 750's imported as well. The DRI cannot impound those bikes.

I know someone who had to send a car back because it was not within the import rules.

thats true....but the 400cc's will cost him double the price....everything has a price....but it'll also come with a bonus- peace of mind.....now everything has its pros and cons...its upto you to choose.

Well I guess I wont be owning a 600 here in india in my life tym. I already have 2 enfield 500's, but wanted to get myself an R6, CBR 600 or FZ6R

I guess I will get myself a legal used 1000cc for 5 Lacs. Any opinion ppl?

Note: I know I cant get a new r6 or CBR600 for 5 lacs INR in india.

                          Regards,
