just been looking for the best bike to buy Busa or Blade, meet the company chaps(dealer are usless)..intrestingly both require 95 octane plus for the 09 legal model , busa increase the compression ratio to 12.3 thus requiring 95..althoug the company chap said that in a pinch you can use 91(priemum) but will harm the engin if used regularly.

    • Just get the best fuel possible bro. You are already paying a fortune to get one of these SBKs.
In the states...the best available fuel is 91 octane. Some call it premium some call it supreme. And every bike is recommended to run on premium fuel.
I wonder y manufacturers are confusing people with diff recommendations for 08 and 09 models. No one here has heard of such a change. Seems to me like a marketing ploy by the manufacturers to favor their partnering fuel company .

HP only has 87 octane. Your best bets are Speed 97 whenever possible. In a pinch you can run regular Speed or Xtrapremium (I prefer Xtrapremium). Don't use HP Power - it is simply 87 octane with additives...knocks badly even on my low compression MT01.

am having no problems as yet with regular petrol (from a good pump)in my k9 busa, though last week when i put in petrol from SHELL i felt my bike giving better throttle response. so maybe the octane rating makes a difference.
probably SUZUKI recommends 97 octane due to the high compression ratio of the BUSA 13:1. But then again i was told it matters in speeds above 220kmph+..

          • K9 busa need RON 95 (a sticker on the tank says so) lower octain fuel might cause pinging

@Doktor - do check for pinging with reguler fuel - (it is a discting metalic sound link a ping during sudden accelration9on normal bikes) in case it is occuring then it could cause damage to the pistons i.e if the pinging continues for a long duration.
Suzuki guys said that once in a way if one uses regulare fuel (insted of seep97) it will have no damage but regulare use of low octen fuel could reduce the life on the pistons.

            • I am late to wish you..but nevertheless..Hearty Congratulations. Now you have also become a big celebrity in Pune
I was just going to ask you why don't you use Shell Petrol. Even I have seen smooth engine response from my One after refueling from Shell.

I am shifting to Pune for sometime. Hope to ride with you soon.

                • Hey Doc - check your private messages and give me a buzz/sms. Have a few queries regarding Suzuki's service/post-sales support. Thinking of getting me a Busa as well.

will check and let you know...the manual says to ride under 5500rpm for the first 800 km when first service is done. and under 8500 rpm till second sevice is done at 4000 km.
first service has been done at 600 km and now i have done 1600 km. before the first service (riding under 5500 rpm) and now (riding under 8500 rpm) there is a lot of diffrence.
also the BUSA has 3 modes and the bhp is vastly different in all three modes...

                          • Modes will not make any difference in speed at a particular gear and RPM. Just how fast you reach it
May the torque be with you..
