08 was a significantly redesigned R6. 09 had a ECU change for a claimed better mid range.....but apparently lost some top end. Strict emission norms have been blamed for that. The emission norms are also to blame for the ugly exhausts the current gixxers carry.
2010 R6 again has an ECU which has been remapped to provide more mid range and maintain its monster top end. There have been some changes to the Air box as well. And then there is the longer exhaust.
Hopefully the claimed bumped up mid range is noticeable this time.
To be frank, it doesnt really matter. Its still the most potent track bike. Its lack of street friendlyness hasnt bothered people from buying it and making it a best seller.

Brothers it aint what you have made it out to be! My gixxer 1000 k8 was the open streetbike award winner and the k9 Gixxer 1000 is the AMA Superbike Championship series winner — for an incredible sixth straight year.
Also I have ridden a few bikes around and the seating position coupled with the handling of the gixxer is without a shadow of a doubt numero uno. So at the end of the day is down to personal preference and choice but there aint no taking away from Suzuki what it commands!

Are you saying this only based on the Busa? You know how long the Busa was'nt touched prior to the launch of the 08. Hey bro. Wasnt trying to discredit Gixxers at all. Every Jap liter bike is wining some championship or the other. Fireblades have been winning the British championships. R1s are on top in World SBK. Yamaha and Honda again in MotoGp. And like u mentioned...Suzuki in AMA.
Majority of publications in the world have written abt the fireblade stealing the crown in street riding from the Suzuki in 08.
The gixxer 600 was never a front runner in any comparo. Always good..but never best. That was the only point i was trying to make.
If Suzuki gets their styling right..like it had for the 07s....i'd love to own one.
