    Sweet choices.
    I'd go for the Gixxer.
But yeah...ride them both and decide.
848 = hole in your pockets. Motorcycle Royalty, High Maintenance, Eye Candy. V twin grunt, Undertail Heat

Gixxer = Smaller hole in your pocket. Jap Reliability, Lower Maintenance, Sweet styling, Awesome Motor, Lots of left over cash for modding.

If I'm remebering it correctly, the last time I visited Ducati Gurgaon (about 3-4 months back) it was 17.5 lakhs on road (down payement was being encouraged!! )

            wtf?!?!?!

that's the kinda difference one has to pay for something soooo beautiful and definitely high maintenace?!?

now it has made me think that ducati has to be like your high profile hot model mistress. super expensive to acquire, super hot, super cranky most of the time, super sexy, super expensive to maintain, super gorgeous to look at, horrible noise when you ride her at low speeds, superb music when you hit the higher speeds while riding..

            gosh i am confused!!

OT:: do forgive me for this ducati695, but i am still eagerly waiting for you to move on...so that my dream of owning a 695 can atleast become real!! I m not suggesting that u sell it, i am suggesting that u go for an upgrade and sell this one to me ;-)

and tht V twin is as good as the inline fours...

but japs can never make bike as sexy and exotic as these italians do...
but they cost almost thrice as the japs in INDIA....
Guys: The price of the 848 been quoted by some of you is incorrect.
Ducati has revised the prices & the they have come down by 20%. I visited the Ducati showroom at atria mall in mumbai. The cost of the 848 in Mumbai on road with all taxes paid is 15,50000/=

All the jap litre classes cost between 11.5 lakhs & 13.5 lakhs ...so just 2 more lakhs for the Ducati.

Well Ducati was bound to do that owing to the price range of the Japs with much bigger Engine Capacities. The price that I quoted was 3-4 months back and I've also mentioned that.... So, I was not entire incorrect on that part.

So, I'm guessing if in Mumbai it's comming upto 15,50000, then in Gurgaon, it should be a tad cheaper!!

I have had a Ducati for 3.5 years, @11000 KM, with 4500KM in India, the only maintainance I have needed is yearly oil changes, and tires.

The bike is going strong just like when I bought it with 3 miles on the clock!

The newer Ducati's are not high-maintainance, and Ducati service intervals are at par with the Jap bikes........

In India they are expensive than the Japs, but hey WTH, isn't that a justified premium for their bikes? what would you rather have a CBR1000 at 14.5 or a 848 at 18.5?

Go to your Duc dealer, check your facts about the Ducati maintainance costs. Also compare your GSXr's maintainance chart with a Ducati, the service intervals are the same or better.

I think the maintenance being expensive is true, at least for india....
Some one from Kolkata inquired about the service they will provide in Kolkata, and they quoted Rs 15 K just as outstation charges !
I think Ducati in India have got an attitude which they need to work on...
May the torque be with you..

a very very very rich mans superbike hehehe

15k just as outstation charges.... the mechanic travels in kingfisher first.....

i wouldnt be surprised if they ask tht he would require a 5star accom.

although the bike looks awsome.... it truly is a ferrari of bikes..... hands down

Totally agree with Fireblah on this. And if what invincible2110 said is true, that the Ducati prices have come down by 20% (which, the Ducati Gurgaon didn't confirm) then I think it's a move in the correct direction.

first service 1000 kms; you can do it yourself. 2nd service is after an insanely long duration. Someone spending 20 lacs on a bike doesn't care much about 15k outstation charges.

But.... if you don't have the service centre in your hometown it could be a problem.
