dude: i personally visited the ducati showroom @ atria mall in mumbai..was chatting up with the showroom manager for 30 mins...848 is 15,50,000 ON ROAD ALL INCLUSIVE!!! So..i guess delhi prices should be 75K to a lakh lesser than mumbai..correct me if i'm wrong.

the price in delhi is actually more by about rs60000, because of dealer margins.

Too bad I canT afford buying and maintaining it!

Ducatis or for that matter any Italian bike has always been more expensive than their Japanese counterparts not just in India but everywhere in the world!

Why is it bad if u 'can' afford it ?!

And why do u want to sue them if they've lowered the price ??!!

U're right about me being the doc, I've not been visiting / posting here of late.
                    BTW where r u these days and what r u riding ?

848 price falls further. Saw an ad a couple of days back with an ex showroom price of 13,10,xxx/- !!!
Am thinking of the new monster 796 with the single sided swing arm, which is for 10,40,xxx/- OTR(thane)

                            the differences are

ridabily wise :- a lot less power than the liter japs. and its not any thing like any other ducati cant even compare, but defenity better than the 700s the ducattis made

styling wise :- ducs are the best looking bikes on the planet, but 848 is not the case though, well i would say have a look at it urself and decide if its a looker or not

ergonomics :- smaller than most of the 600s.

you know wht we can all go on and on about difference, but the fact of the matter is, its a bike with a lot of oomph , just cuz its a duke. and its the entry level duke at that.

but in case u got for it, be prepared to spend a lot.... anything close to 300 to 400 $ for every servicing.
every bolt and nut u buy for the bike will be atleast 5 times more than the jap bikes.
if u ever have an engine problem...... then u are in deep poo

so , dont consider buying a ducatti if you are worried about the duke checking what ur bank balance cant cash.. period !!!

used 848s go at the cost of pea nuts.
there is a 2010 model done just 2500km going for 5 lacks odd ( when i convert into rupees )
its an indication of how quickly it depretiates and how not many people wanna lay their hands on a ducatti.
the only other bike in its league is the gsx 750. u will never find a pre owned 750 for that kind of price...... so take ur guess, there is a reason for all this

I have ridden a 848 in Mumbai. I do not want to comment on how does it compare with the mentioned motor cycles.
The 848 is light, very manageable and user friendly sports bike. I rode it while it was damp and it still stuck to the road like dry. Its very torquey from very low down in the rev range and will be very exclusive on indian roads.
