CBR speedos are integrated into the engine somehow. theres a video on youtube on how a CBR600 on a paddock stand with no chain running at rev limit in top gear doing 178MPH.

Indeed a masterstroke...infact a master-slap for people who complain of traffic This is a frequent scene in US and UK

Down to reality...my 2 cents on why such a thing cannot/should not be attempted in this part of the world
            • The only person who was not following traffic rules was the rider
            • There were no rickshaws seen
            • Road shoulder were of decent size so that he could overtake from left with ease
            • No random people/animals crossing the road

            Any more points???

Awesome stuff man.. Great skills and balls of steel too...But not recommendable . But the speed is not very high considering that most of the time he is in 120-170. But when combined with the traffic on the road its a deadly high to watch this video.
I think its the Ghost rider considering the camera placements and editing. No lone shark would be capable of doing this stuff except for Patrick Fuerstenhoff whom many believe to be the GhostRider!

On the eve of installing the Racefit Exhuast onto the Blade, I also decided to pen down a few more facts about the bike. Precious rides have been undertaken on the Blade untill now...a set of twisties at the Mumbai-Pune xBHP mega G2G at Ambey Valley...Sunday morning 5:15 am NH4 Highway Blast, Random Weekday midnight quickblasts at the Highway, 3am rides at the highways etc etc. This Saturday I would also be heading out for Lavasa !
Enough kms have now been piled for me to be doing justice to the first ride report of this magnificient firearm called CBR1000RR. The blade will be almost due for its first servicing in about a half a week now and I feel like I have just bought her yesterday. You tend to believe that the Blade will feel "new" for quite a long time. I think its got to do somthing with the excitment one experiences when swinging a leg over a 1000cc for the first time in life. The blade flashes those memories and makes you re-live them, the same overdose of excitement everytime you swing a leg over her. Maybe thats why it feels new...all the time.

Yadda yadda yadda...We all know that the Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade is a 1000cc four cylinder inline four configuration superbike which overdoes the mass centralization bug to perfection and weighs just under 200kgs with fuel. Right ? Wrong ! After riding a bike I try and understand why it rides the way it does. When the blade doesnt engine brake much I wondered what mechanism it were that was responsible for that. Questions like these and the answers to which is what I am going to try and decipher below..

The ‘Blade’s speed is all engine.
Its not just like any other normal inline four.
The bikes got individual fuel maps for each injector in the dual-bank setup (remember each cylinder has got two injectors..the second one showers fuel into the cylinder above a particular rpm resulting in explosive dual stage fuel injection). Then again it has separate ignition maps for the inner and outer pairs of cylinders.

Engine braking which feels like that of a two stroke !
If you have ridden other superbikes or even the Kawasaki Ninja 250R you will know that the Blade has very little engine braking. Even the 250R has not just more but considerably more engine braking than the blade. I would say the 250R engine brakes more than twice as much as the blade. So does the 600RR. It baffled me in the beginning. Untill I found the answer for it. The engine features an air-bleed valve downstream of the throttle butterflies which kicks in, along with a burp of extra fuel, to keep the engine braking from coming on too strong when you shut off the throttle.

Throttle the bike when riding it. You will initially think the engine is going crazy. The engine spins up in revs so fast and so soon. But the wierdness doesnt end there. The Engine spins back down again equally fast. You will notice asking yourself two things when you go off the throttle..

                            1. Wheres my engine braking ?
                            2. Why are the revs dropping so freakin fast ?

Again the rev dropping was understood when I understood what it meant that the Firblade has a very light crank.
All these charachteristics make the engine feel spectacularly direct at the twistgrip.
At a standstill, the vibes from the engine don’t make it through to the mirrors or the lip of the screen; the most prominent sound is the rattle of the camchain...to me it sounds like its detuned. But thats just the idling. Everything after that feels like tuned to the max.
Give throttle and the engine only whirrs tensely as it fires but with refinement and a dash of explosive power gets dialled in at 4k rpm ( on a stock bike).

Compared to the 600 what is the biggest difference I notice (other than the power ofcourse) ?
Theres no one big difference but there are plenty...

                            1. Windblast...its a ***** on the Fireblade. One certainly needs an aftermarket bubble screen if one wishes not to be bothered by the blast at any speeds above 190kmph. To be honest the same magnitude of windblast is not felt on the 600RR untill about 220kmph.
                            2. The cockpit is short, I sit are very close to the lip of the front fairing, with my knees ending up a full third of the way up my forearms if I crouched down. (Thats actually the technical reason why the windblast on the Blade is a lot more than on the 600RR. On many other bikes and on the 600RR you strecth your arms quite a bit to reach for the bars.)
                            3. Quoted at 820mm, the seat height is not overly amenable to short riders. I am 6 ft though so I aint worried about that.
                            4. The overall seating position is more aggressive than that of the 600RR, the short cockpit however keeps your weight on the inner thighs rather than the arse, which makes for less fatigue on an extended ride.

I have now plonked Racefit exhaust onto the bike and have gotten it tuned. The surge of power now starts at 3k RPM. Its so mad that while shooting the fly bys I was leaving a long line of rubber on the road everytime I launched myself from standstill.
Crank up the volume !!! Hope you like the fly bys !
If possible stick some headphones/earplugs to listen to the throaty exhaust !
