  • Atul - I caught your first practice run on video. Clean launch but you are fortunate they are not measuring reaction time because it appeared to be quite delayed after the lights went green. You seemed quite tentative with the throttle initially...probably getting an idea of what kind of grip was there but after that you went pretty well. My suggestion is to tuck down much faster and to NOT have your elbows sticking out.

Isn't it a lot of fun though?

Next year you can try a bigger rear sprocket just for the drags. Also in the heat of the afternoon you could have dropped 4-5 psi from the rear tire for a bit more traction off the line.

Hey Guru, it was so so much fun I cant tell you. I had seen drag races only in Fast & furious and discovery turbo. It was an awesome feeling. I thought about the elbow bit, but couldnt do it in the first 3 seconds. Will keep that in mind.
I did drop 4 psi from rear tyre and there was ample action. I had gone prepared to come last but even there I was pleasantly surprised. You should bring your thor along and we should race together and give these crotch rockets a run for their money Nothing is as much fun as taking an inappropriate equipment to places not suited for it.The icing of the cake was the result. Next time lets see if i can be in 11s.

Just one request, can you post the video here?

I need louder pipes and a higher pay packet .

Just came back after attending Level 1 and 2 of California Superbike School, I realised that what ever I had learnt about riding bikes in the last 15 years was just the tip of the iceberg and a lot of things that I did with bikes are absolutely wrong and very dangerous.

Amazing experience. I recommend this for all bike riders regardless of the type of bikes that they have and the level of experience.

                • 2nd servicing -- where????

                  Dear fellow bikers,

I am now close to 6000 km on my beloved beast and now its time for the second servicing. For the first servicing i stuck to my dealer in Pune, but I was not happy with it.

Any recommendations in Mumbai and more importantly for the first few servicing do I need to stick to Suzuki authorised service station or can I go to any guy (from a warranty perspective and other wise)

                  Please advice.

                  • Good stuff dude, congratulations on the 6K kms. I am still just under 1K, need to get the first servicing done
Have just done a couple of 200 km rides, nothing longer yet.

Any particular reasons for not being happy with the Suzuki servicing? Did they not do the standard checks properly?

                      Hey Sammy,Long time man.

Just 1k on the Ninja - Not Fair not fair at all. Please get the servicing done and go an a thousand km ride to repent.

The suzuki guys came home with a small suitcase and oil. They changed the oil, oil filter and left. No checks were conducted at all. Then this guy calls me a couple of month later saying that I have to get the bike serviced every 3 months or 2500 km. I told him that this is not right since the manual says second servicing at 6K. The suzuki guy then goes on to tell me that my warranty would be void if i did that, at that I blasted him and slammed the phone down. I have lost trust on these guys.

                        • Hey Atul, good plan but are you planning to do it now? I would suggest you do it after September, will be extremely hot and will be totally energy sapping.

I think this is the Mumbai to Delhi route that you are looking at, have heard its a lovely road and a pleasure to ride/drive on.

                            Thanks mate.

Actually the idea is to test the endurance of my bike and me as well. It will be interesting to see if the engine heats up at 45 degrees with the desert sun shining overhead. Also to check how do I cope in full gear with this heat as well as the additional heat from the massive engine below.

It definitely would be energy sapping, I have just bought truckloads of Electrol and plan to drink a litre every 2 hours whether thirsty or not.

It is the BOM DEL route only till Ahmedabad. Then I will go to Mehsana and onward to Barmer. Jaisalmer is the westernmost point and shares a border with pakistan.

Lets hope both the man and the machine survive this, we are both Ok with tanning.

That is going to be one heck of an endurance test for the both of you bro. I know this route (some friends have done this), one of the issues that you will face will be sand on the road. Be very careful as you have a very torquey bike. Take a balaclava and keep wetting it, will keep the sand out and keep you cool as well. Try to cover most of your distances early and avoid riding during the 12 - 4 times, unless you are comfortable.

Keep some hard boiled sweets with you for energy as well. 2 Visors, tinted and plain will be there anyways I guess.
U have a GPS? SHould be helpful.

All the best bro, ride safe.

                              • The Royal Rajasthan Desert Heat Tour Begins

The bags are packed, the tour begins early tomorrow morning.
Key survival gear against the heat:
                                1. Rehydration salts (electral)
                                2. Cold water in a flask
                                3. Topped up coolant in the bike
                                4. Cotton balaclava (wet one - thanks sammy)

From now on its just me an the enddless burning sand.

                                The endurance test begins nowwwwwww!!!!!
