Do not go for a 2S unless you really cannot live without one. See, most 2S owners here would stop having their meals, if something major happens to their steed. Unless they get it fixed. You need to have that sheer love and passion to own one.

As Sriram said, buying is easy, maintenance is easy, plenty of mechs BUT spares are like hunting treasures. I have interacted with many 2S owners in this forum over the last 2 years and everyone loves their steed like an extension of their body. They will never settle for a cheap aftermarket spare. They would wonder over a small hitch on the bike and make calls to another 2S guy residing at another part of the country and would settle only after the issue is resolved.

So that is the way to have a 2S. Most of us here, who have 2S, either had them from the showroom or missed them so much in our life, that we bought second hand ones and made them new with all love and passion poured into it.

At the end of the day remember this, you do not own a 2S. It owns you.

If you are thinking abt a bike to have thrills at low cost, avoid RX/Shogin/Shaolin(i guess this one is already a exotic ownership now?)

If you are a real 2-stroke fan, then my suggestion is, go for the RX & you will cherish this for a long long time.

Yes, spares are a serious issue, but if you have the money power, then everything can be purchased. Money can definately buy you happiness. What you can do is, hunt for the essential spares (Viz., Bore kit, Crank Shaft, Clutch bell assembly, Ignition etc etc) first & once you have collected them, then you can think on purchasing a decent RX.

On the other hand, if you are just wanting to get cheap pleasure, then i am sorry, 2-strokes are not for you. At the end of the day, it is your call.

              All the best.

Money can NEVER buy happiness in life Karthik, unless you meant the happiness of owning only a Rx & nothing more, nothing less.

                    Pros 2 stroke:

                    Own the road!
                    Maneuverability like an extended hand/leg
Stunts, drag race, street race - Bring it on!

                    Cons:

You love it, it will be your ride!
Almost any mechanic can fix it
                    Spares - Endangered.... Extint

RXs are getting bloody expensive these days! Not really a low-budget affair anymore. Parts are quite expensive themselves.

Have owned a 135 4 speed before. Maintenance for me was never a problem. It was reliable enough and very sturdy. Good on the road, even better off it. Comfort wasn't all that great but quite manageable for city and long rides.

If you are getting a low-budget RX135/135 5 speed do let me know. I'd be glad to pick it up for myself :P

I don't know about the 135s, but 100 defnitely struggles beyond 100. Speedo indicated 100 is all what my 86' model 100 is capable of. But the good thing is it just doesn't feel stressed at those speeds. I ride Bangalore-Mysore (300kms round trip in one day) pretty much at 90kmph. So thats about 2.5hrs of contnuous cruising

                          EDIT: My bike is stock.
