  • Another exotic joins the stable...

This one just landed in my lap. I've been passively looking around for a Jawa, Roadking or Yezdi for a while now and a friend of mine from work just sort of stopped by my desk, completely out of the blue, and told me to come and pick up a Yezdi from his home for Rs.1

As you can imagine the state of my mind...and my trousers because this seemed like an act of God in his spare time. He spends the rest of his time sprinkling us with unnecessary thunderstorms so I can see how this might have been something that piqued his interest. Thank you God!

So I own a Yezdi now and I can't even tell what it is. For all I know about these bikes, this could very well be a 250D Classic. I'll post more a little while later (heading out to get sozzled...) but these pics should help you get started with your comments.

I know I am a lucky s.o.b but what can I say...most of it is probably down to my personality

It is not right to keep fellow 2-stroke enthusiasts, sadly a dying breed, in the dark about such developments. To that effect let me outline on the minutiae of this acquisition.

This particular Yezdi was with only it's second owner who happens to be a coworker with whom I have occasional interaction. He also knows I am a bike nut because I ride to work as often as I can on the RD, MT etc. He came forward totally out of the blue one day and told me "I have a Yezdi...do you want it?".

At this point I was busy picking up my lower jaw off the ground!!

"Are you kidding me? Of course I want it!!"

This was on Friday and on Sunday I went and picked up the bike. It was given to me for the token amount and this is the story of how I acquired this bike. Enough talk...time to see some pictures!

Ok, Rs 1 was token advance is it? Lol; Congratulations on your buy. Now you've a challenging job in front of you to restore it. But this one looks in a very good condiiton.

BTW, what car is that? You've modded the car to transport motorcycles is it? And you'd to remove the front wheel isn't it?

I met Arun and his tasty RXZ at Mahesh Bhai's garage. I've been working with Mahesh Bhai for the last 3 years and I've never seen Arun there before so it was a nice surprise to meet him and his ride.

Ha ha...it was comical getting it in and out of the Gypsy but this is why I LOVE my Gypsy...apart from the fact that I go offroading in it almost every week.

Please PM me your number because I definitely need help with Sriku's (my cousin) RX135 4-speed. The rear shocks for one are an immediate requirement.

Also do drop by to give suggestions on how to take the Yezdi through to finished stages. I'll be there tuesday evening if the bike is running by then.

Rs.1 for the Yezdi = buying price Just a token amount because nothing in this world should be given/taken for free.

I was surprised by the condition seeing how the owner just gave it away. I have no doubt that there is nothing WRONG with the bike because he is a good friend and co-worker and anyway...for Rs.1 I shouldn't be complaining. This looks like a perfectly serviceable bike worth restoring. Right now I just want to get it running and fix the major issues, ride it for a month and then decide on the restoration.

The car is a Gypsy King...no modifications. Yes I removed the front wheel because I had 3 people in the car along with the bike and I needed to give the rear passenger space to sit.

oh! surprisingly my friend Amit who is currently 80% done with his Lotus 7 replica was also told to take a Yezdi for free in his building and he said only if you let me pay you a Rupee. Of course he never bought it though. Uncanny though that another Yezdi should go for the same amount!

Would be amazing to see all of your steeds together!
