simplest mod , get mota and design a low to mod range expansion chamber , fix it to your bike rejet it and hope it works , also if possible get a uni filter and rejet accordingly , its nearly impossible to port a shoguns cylinder as there is not much left in it to grind out , if you get it wrong its game over...... if you succeed you get a powerband which is as wide as as razors edge (remember the rx135 that you rode)..... as for the bikes like cr500 and the husky , what you felt is low end torque allowing you to accelerate out from slow speeds smoothly ,.........there was a rumour that during the nineties there was rally kit specially developed for the shogun which could be bought off the shelf from tvs and fitted to the shoguns and take them racing also you have a pm

ps: where are all the seniors when you need them

dont remember the whole thing but it definitely had an expansion chamber and a performance ignition kit from nippon ( not sure whether it was programmable though

Do a complete service and post a picture of your Shogun

I think you can take the 5 Speed Gear from Shaolin.Very hard to get though.Go for RTR 180 Swingarm,Rear Shocks,Full Front Suspension and Forks,Petal Discs front and Back.Paint the Rims in Glossy Black and Chrome Plate the Spokes and the Bike will Shine man !

You would need a complete shaolin bottom end for a 5 speed conversion. However, according to people who have done it, its not worth it as the top gear ratio remains simillar.

About the front disc, you can opt for either a used fiero set up, a bit hard to find beyond the shogun circles, but is a direct fit, or go for a gladiator set up and adjust the rear shox height to match. Other options are not a direct fit on the t stem and would require some major work.

Rear disc is not required in my opinion. The drum is enough. If you want you can install any rear set up from a bike which has a rear disc. It would require a complete swap of swing arm, wheel and brake parts.

I too feel the rear disk brakes are not required and would be an over kill but to each his own.

The options are to weld the stays in the present hub where the drum goes, get a spacer made for the hub to rotate freeily in the swing arm, Get R15 rear disk plate and weld the stays accordingly, install a metal plate to hold the caliper on the drum and you can install the slave cylinder to work with the present brake leaver. It usually get locked up so someone who knows his stuff well can only set it up for you
