    Re: Dream...Passion...and Restoration (RX 135, 5 speed)

    Hi,

Run in 300 kms done. So far not much ride since restore. Only about 10-15 km daily. Today I planned to take some pictures. I thought of going to Porur Bypass road to get the lengthy road view. When i reached there suddenly my long time plan of visit came to my mind. World war II Air strip. So extended my ride. Up and down about 60kms. I have not crossed 40kmph. speed. But unfortunately there was some army people there and the entry is restricted. I thought it's an abandoned air strip. So just roaming there. Found one redsoil land hence the name RED HILLS. Went there and took some snaps finally.
Took one more snap in Puzhal lake too.

    Here is the pictures...

The main entrance to the air strip is closed, but you can enter the air strip at the back side through a street close to the ORR Construction site, i have attached the map for your reference too, its better to go there by 8 am, mostly early mornings and evenings are occupied by air force people for their driving classes.

Nice thread, I will give A for your efforts, 2 things which jump at me, the rear sissy bar and the rear shocks, I am glad that you invested in a paint setup, people usually don't do that, I waned to buy a sandblasting gun but refrained from doing that since it would be a dead investment

I know this thread lacks interesting elements like other restoration threads for the readers.

But, I would like to share the expenses. This may help someone. Thanks.

            Thanks Pramod,

The sissy bar thing and the rear shocks were changed long back. The stock shocks put some pressure on my spinal chord ( I have spinal chord disc issue..), I have changed that to Platina. Thanks for the rating.

Why do you say that? your thread has a lot of information.

What you have created is a bible for people who are looking to restore their bikes. Trust me I felt a lot of pennywise decisions could have been avoided in my recent build, I was able to realize that just cause you have shared tons of information on the cost of spares

Thanks buddy, but I too have back issues, I realized its not just the shocks that add to the woes, its the seat as well, In my RD I had reused the old sponge, which had lost its action but in my RX I got new sponge and trust me it was the wisest decision in a long while, Try getting Gel pads those improve the situation a lot. I am assuming its a tail bone pain and not a hip pain, if the case is later then I suggest you stop riding for sometime.
