Can anybody make a rough estimate at least?
My gun's engine blew up at 46K due to my stupidity and it was in excellent condition apart from the slight piston slapping noise
so dont worry just ride on.
But if you can find Suzuki spares i would suggest you to grab and stock them.

^^^May I ask what you did that blew up your engine?

There are some noises from the engine... bearings perhaps... dunno if its piston slap. But then noise(s) have been there since the begining... and the service guys said its normal... and its a noisy engine... so I'm guessing and hoping its ok.

Do you mean Suzuki spares or TVS spares? And which parts do you think are worth stocking up? Which ones are likely to fail 1st?

Did about 100 kmph today... 1st time in all these years! The new tyres gave me the confidence!

Well my engine blew up as accelerator cable got stuck and engine revved all the way upto redline at 12K+ RPM while bike was standing and piston was shredded to bits.

Well if you can find SGP then nothing like it.
may be you can try and contact Atul for this.

After watching this thread i really miss my shogun, which i had restored from battered condition to showroom condition

^^^ Sad to hear about that. Didn't know revving upto 12 k RPM can shred the piston?? Why didn't you restore your bike once again?

            Errr... whats SGP?

just today saw one guy near the petrol station.. friend and i were standing aroun 50M away, you hear the bike reving in neutral
wondered what was happening.. started walking towards him and then knew something was wrong so ended up running.. the guy had the bike on main stand and the acc cable had got stuck. he didn't know what to do.. tried to switch off the bike but the key was of no use.. switched off the fuel, and both my friend and i yanked out the spark cable.. the bike was redlining for close to two minutes, the engine was smoking away to glory

the bike was a pulsar dtsi 180

two plugs.. got a considerable shock

So the RX redlined for 2 mins and yet did not ruin the piston or anything else? Wonder what happened to Akshays. Shogun...

I'v seen people revving up bikes... esp. mechanics. My Shogun was also revved up big... possibly to the redline, but cant recall in detail now. This was by a TVS mechanic, when I was pointing out his shoddy work to him... I didn't stop him immediately, as I was just a schoolboy or something that time.

I know this might wear out the engine faster... but dunno if this can actually destroy an engine on the spot!? Does it?

Racoon it got stuck for more than a minute and the bike was restored completely after that, engine and cosmetics both along with a front disc brake.
I had to sell off the bike as it was not being used anymore
now I am feeling really bad for doing that

Well regarding RX not blowing out and my shogun not, well all i can say is that a Shoguns engine is quite stressed at redline.

                  SGP-Suzuki Genuine Part.

Here is a pic of my shogun just before it was sold-Miss her

Seems great! But the mods make it seem like a dirt bike! The tyres seem to be for the same purpose too... didn't you have a problem with them on good roads?

Even I almost sold my gun... as I was hardly using it. There were times when it wasn't touched for 3-4 weeks at a stretch. Had trouble keep the battery charged. Nearly sold it actually, but did'nt actually happen as I had to go out of town, etc. And now I don't feel like selling...

I'm a li'l fuzzy there - shouldn't it be TVS genuine part I should be concerned with?

Haha..Been long time since I updated

For now, the engine is completely rebuilt, and ready, and the chassis and tank panels gone for paint. Getting the right shade of desired paint was a pain, took a bit of running about. The bike is gonna get new rubber as well. The rims are ready with the new spokes, and a new wiring harness is gonna make way after the cycle bits are back from painting

Just 3-4 days more for the finished outcome.
