  • Yezdi - Auction

    hallo all,

There was a grand auction held bythe Ideal Jawa Motor Company in the factory premises at Mysore (guys from bangalore must be aware), it seems they have sent out all the stock of spares for all models from yezdi clan, a guy from bangalore took the best deal, he has taken spares worth for 7 lakhs, and is selling around to people who require, and to top it all the auction had 3 new bikes, Yezdi CLII, Deluxe and 175cc i guess, these bikes were taken by the Yezdi family members. . . . the best company of all times coming to an end slowly, makes us especially feel very bad and sorry. . . . . but anyway the bike has no end. Yezdi had great exhaust note. It is very sad to see that the company is selling off doods from their factory. They should have tried to start the production of the bike again. Yezdi is a great bike

Guy from blore picked up spares worth 7 lakhs??? I know one dealer in Mysore who did... I didnt know they had enough spares to supply ANOTHER guy from blore too!!! Oh, and do ya ppl know what the bastids, who were in charge of clearing the factory did to all the stuff they couldn't sell??? They BROKE everything into tiny bits and sold it to teh scrap metal yard!!! LOADS of engine cases, 350 bores, all kinds of plastic parts were among those destroyed!!!

The bikes which the family kept, actually they were a couple motocross bikes from CZ, a monster 1000cc bike, some of the, I believe, first production models of their bikes, the jawa, the model B, the classic, etc... Harris, the younger guy of the two 'marketing chaps' there, kept a couple 350s for himself... and of course, the mechanic who did all the assembly work for them, he got his pick of the loot too!!!

I found some unfinished bores inside the factory, still on the machines... Thought of picking up a couple, and getting it finished elsewhere, but the greedy bastids wanted me to pay them 500 bucks!!! These bores still had about three to four operations left on them, and there were many more pieces where the ports had still not been machined!!!

oh yeah, for those who think 500 bucks was still worth paying, I must mention that I had already picked up a bore-piston SET for round 800 bucks!!! So, an unfinished bore, without the piston, for 500 bucks didnt seem worthwhile to me, especially since I wouldnt really be needing it at all...

Jawa 350s went for 20k to the unsuspecting... 17k to the slightly wary and 13k to the smart ones, who bought it in 'bulk' ... All 250s went for bout 15-18k apiece, I believe, but they were mainly bought by brokers or something, so I could be wrong... And it wasn't an 'auction' as such... Just a kind of clearance sale... There was no bidding, no auctioneer, nothing... atleast not for the bikes... The spares, when dealers bought for 7 lakhs and stuff, yes, there might have been some informal bidding...

350 is a great bike, agreed, but it has a good number of problems, and at the end of the day, it can NOT be registered, and it is truly a 'use-and-throw' bike... Coz spares are impossible to find ANYWHERE in India, even at the factory!!! So, instead of spending 17k on THAT bike, I'd rather spend the same amount on restoring a 250 to mint/near-mint condition...

Opinions are subjective karthik, and you are entitled to your own opinions.
Jawa is all about smoothness and elegance, roadking is all about being the *bad boy* in the roads. But, 350 is of a different class altogether. I prefer to say, it is the silent killer. I have 7 yezdis(3 Jawas-1967, 70 and 73; 1 classic-1976; and 2 roadkings-both 1995 model. One of the roadkings is heavily powered up.) I have rode almost all the models of yezdi, but the 350 is really class apart.
The 350 is NOT a use and throw bike, it is a bike worth preserving for your kids and grand kids. You can pat your grand kids' back and say, hey kiddo... this was the 2nd most powerful bike produced in India.!
I myself picked up a 350 twin from the factory, and enuf spares to serve me life long.
                              I don't have papers for the bike, but then I don't have a 2WH lisence, I don't have a passport, I don't have a Ration Card, I don't have Voters ID... So what??
                              ---------
For a change, I was cursing my father for not being rich, stinkingly rich.
Those SOBs (Harry and Kapil)... the way they were plundering the whole factory.. it was really heart wrenching.
People who love yezdis should have been there in the factory. Stuffs worth lakhs of rupees were sold at scrap rates. Only if I had money!!!

                              .............
                              Cheers Guys
I do not need a $ex partner, my bike screws me enuf!
